Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for generating a foam from a preheated dye solution and subsequently applying the foam to continuous strands of yarn wherein the foam is driven by a pressure differential. The apparatus has a foaming pan for producing the foam from the dye solution and a gas. The pan opens into a foam transmission chamber at or near ambient pressure which fluid communicates with an evacuated spent foam discharge chamber across an open interface. The yarn is dyed by conveying it through the open interface and contacting it with the foam which is drawn across the open interface in a flow path perpendicular to the yarn by the pressure differential between the foam transmission and discharge chambers.
Abstract: Pyridazinones endowed with insecticidal and acaricidal activity are discld, which have the general formula: ##STR1## wherein the symbols have the meaning as defined in claim 1.

Abstract: A coax connector module comprising a housing accommodating electrically conducting coax contact elements. Each contact element having a contact side in the form of a coaxial inner and outer contact part, and a connecting side in the form of an electrical terminal and an electrically conducting casing surrounding the terminal in an electrically insulating manner. The electrical terminal being connected to the inner contact part and having a connecting end, and the casing being connected to the outer contact part and having at least one connecting end, for mounting on a printed circuit board. The casing being constructed from walls of sheet metal or a machined block of metal. To reduce the pitch distance between the respective connecting ends of adjacent casings, one or more of the walls of adjacently situated casings can be of integral or partially common construction.
Abstract: Small diameter high strength carbon fibers are produced in a process in which the spinneret has a small diameter, the spinneret capillary temperature is at least 10.degree. C. higher than the predicted spin temperature of the pitch and the pitch flows through a high aspect ratio opening upstream of the spinneret.
Abstract: Improved radiation-sensitive elements comprise a support; a radiation-sensitive layer; and an auxiliary layer comprising an absorbing amount of an anionic dye, and a synthetic amphoteric polymer comprising: acrylic acid and N,N-dialkylaminoethyl methacrylate; wherein alkyl=methyl or ethyl, the molar ratio of (a):(b).ltoreq.1:1; said polymer has an isoelectric point of 7.0-11.2; and said polymer is present in said auxiliary layer in an amount sufficient to mordant said anionic dye.
Abstract: A food and/or beverage holder for mounting on a card table includes a food or beverage platform or a beverage container receptacle mounted radially to a base sized to separate the holder far enough from a hook extension, for sanitary reasons, the base being mounted radially from its other end to a table receptacle for providing vertical stability, and from the base or table leg receptacle, a hook which extends axially upwardly therefrom for removable attachment to one or more of the table leg lateral projections. The beverage holder may be removably constructed for separating a major horizontal member from the remainder of the apparatus, to enhance portability.
Abstract: Novel cementitious contaminant barriers are formed by positioning a hydraulic cement composition into a predetermined configuration and then hydrating the cement composition. The contaminant barriers of the present invention include at least one liquid, gas, or ion getter capable of binding with or absorbing liquids, ions, or gases which may penetrate the barrier. The contaminant barriers of the present invention may be engineered to include mixtures of different getters, single and multiple layers of different getters, multiple layers of cement and getters, and a host of different getter, cement, mixture, and layer combinations.Novel waste containers are advantageously prepared utilizing contaminant barriers within the scope of the present invention. The waste containers may be prepared by surrounding waste material with at least one getter and with a powdered hydraulic cement composition and then compressing the cement and getter around the waste material.

Abstract: A batch process and apparatus are provided for molding fiberballs, comprising load-bearing fibers and binder fibers, into shaped articles, preferably using hot air within a perforated mold to allow circulation of the air through the fiberballs. The techniques are particularly adapted to molding cushions of varying shapes and sizes, without excessive wastage of material, using relatively simple flexible equipment.
Abstract: High thermal conductivity mesophase pitch based carbon fibers are made using a spinneret which has a sharply angled tapered region at the inlet to the spinneret capillary.
Abstract: An improved dynamic digital IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) audio filter and method provides a remedy for the major problems in state of the art digital IIR filtering and dynamic digital filtering for audio. In particular, the required multiplier coefficient size is reduced, such that 16 bit coefficients are adequate for good frequency resolution. In addition, the data size of the multiplier is also reduced, to be similar to the input and output data resolution without inferior noise performance. Furthermore, the structure is easily modified to allow the fixing of the DC (Direct Current) gain of the IIR filter to unity regardless of coefficient choice, eliminating any problems with filter dynamic range at low frequency passbands. Additionally, a dynamic filter structure allows logarithmic filter sweeps and compresses the coefficients further down to as few as 8 bits with adequate resolution for audio throughout the band.
Abstract: A high resolution radiography system is presented utilizing a an intensifying screen incorporating a UV emitting phosphor. The photographic element exhibits enhanced sensitivity to the emission of the phosphor and further comprises at least one compound selected from the group comprising: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 =substituted or unsubstituted aromatic ring; R.sub.2 =H, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted aryl; R.sub.3 =an alkyl group, an aryl group, a COOR group wherein R is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl or an alkali metal cation, HNR4+ wherein R.sub.4 is alkyl, substituted alkyl or alkyaryl.
