Abstract: The method is directed to a method of forming a hermetic flux-sintered ceramic multilayer structure with internal copper conductor comprising:(a) forming at least one green ceramic layer comprised of a thermoplastic organic binder having dispersed therein a finely divided ceramic powder and a low melting flux;(b) forming on the surface of a first green ceramic layer a pattern of copper-based conductor paste comprised of fine copper powder, a non-cellulosic binder, and a solvent for the non-cellulosic binder which is a nonsolvent for the thermoplastic organic binder in the green ceramic layer;(c) laminating a second green ceramic layer on the surface of the first ceramic layer to sandwich the pattern therebetween;(d) heating the composite structure in an ambient gas comprising a dry buffered gas mixture whereby maintaining an oxygen partial pressure sufficient to remove the organics but not to oxidize the copper.
Abstract: An improved gas-phase process for the manufacture of 1,1-difluoro-1,2-dichloroethane and 1-fluoro-1,1,2-trichloroethane by contacting a suitable trihaloethylene and/or a tetrahaloethane with hydrogen fluoride in the presence of a metal in combination with a high fluorine content alumina, the reaction being preferably conducted under controlled conditions whereby the production of 1,1,1-trifluorochloroethane is minimized.
Abstract: .beta.-Substituted polyfluoroethyl compounds, process for the preparation thereof, copolymers thereof, compound intermediates, and process therefor. The copolymers are useful as ion exchange resins or structural foams.
Abstract: A thickness control system for controlling the thickness of an extrudate includes a nested temperature control loop for controlling the temperature of a heat responsive element based upon a predetermined temperature set point. The temperature set point for the temperature control loop is computed based upon the measured thickness of the extrudate.

Abstract: Melt-processible blends of aluminum ionomers of ethylene/unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymers and thermoplastic resins or elastomers are obtained by mixing the ethylene/acid copolymer and the thermoplastic resin or elastomer and simultaneously or subsequently neutralizing from about 1 to about 100% of the carboxylic acid groups of the ethylene copolymer with aluminum ions.
Abstract: Incorporation of 0.1-10 weight percent of certain hydroxy containing polymers and/or oligomers into polyacetal molding compositions results in improved thermal stability of such compositions.
Abstract: Two conveyors for stacks of paper sheets are coupled to each other for movement back and forth between a first position in which one of the conveyors receives one or more stacks and the other conveyor is relieved of the stack or stacks thereon, and a second position in which the one conveyor is relieved of the stack or stacks thereon and the other conveyor receives one or more stacks. In order to expel air from the stacks on the conveyors the foremost portions of the stacks are clamped by reciprocable rams to the respective conveyors and the thus clamped stacks are caused to move along stationary squeegees which bear against successive increments of the stacks behind the respective rams while the stacks, the respective rams and the respective conveyors move away from the stack-receiving positions.
Abstract: Novel melt-spinnable anisotropic-melt-forming polyesters from certain disubstituted hydroquinones and terephthalic acid have high glass transition temperatures.
Abstract: The back emf voltage of a motor is extracted from the applied motor voltage and motor current by means of a control system including a back emf sensor, an adaptive motor resistance circuit, and a position integrator. In the back emf sensor a corrected motor resistance signal, iR, a motor inductance signal, L di/dt, and applied motor voltage, V.sub.m, are input to a summing junction. The summing junction subtracts the motor resistance signal and the motor inductance signal from the applied motor voltage to compute the back emf voltage. To correct for variations in motor resistance, the adaptive motor resistance circuits demodulates and integrates the back emf voltage from the summing junction and the motor position signal input to the system. By integrating the back emf voltage from the back emf sensor in the position integrator a motor position output is obtained as a signal for servo position loop closure.
Abstract: A removable seal assembly for a centrifuge door includes a seal support plate slidably received in guide rails mounted to the undersurface of the door. The plate has a central opening lined with an annular seal support element. A flange secures the plate to the edge of the door. The support plate is slidably removable from the guide rails.
Abstract: Lubricating equipment for wheel flanges of a railroad vehicle has a compressed air supply, and a generator (3) generating an air-oil mixture. Tubing extends from the generator to application nozzles (15) which have a profile that increases density of the air-oil mixture as well as the speed of the flow. The equipment releases oil in a micro-pulverized form onto the surface so that it is unaffected by air turbulence in the vicinity of the moving wheels.
Abstract: This invention relates to herbicidal benzene sulfonamides containing a five or six membered heterocyclic ring consisting of 2-3 heteroatoms and 1-2 carbonyl groups as a substituent on benzene.
Abstract: System of detection of a shed closed to passage of a shuttle in a multi-phase weaving textile loom. This invention is comprised of the following: sensitive control bars made elastically movable along the vertical direction, with a stroke at least equalling the vertical shift necessary for the shuttle roller to disengage from the corresponding thrust roller of the dragging chain of the same shuttle; two adjoining sensitive control blades, both are on the rotary-reed facing divergent side wall of each shuttle; the outward blade is fixed and rigid while the longer inward blade is rotatable around a vertical axis; and upon detection of a persistent entanglement by the control blades, a lever pin, kept in a retracted position by a retainer hook, is freed by movement of the retainer hook such that the lever pin springs outwards to protrude from the shuttle plane, pressing upon a sensitive control bar, generating a stop loom signal.

Abstract: This invention relates to novel N-(heterocyclicaminocarbonyl) indole sulfonamides which are useful as agricultural chemicals and, in particular, as herbicides.
Abstract: A process for the preparation of N,N'-bis-trialkylsilyl carbodiimide, according to the following schematic diagram: ##STR1## where R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each independently hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.15 aralkyl, unsubstituted or substituted aryl or heteroaryl or alternatively, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together with the silicon atom form a 3 to 12 member heterocyclic group, optionally including oxygen, sulfur, or phosphorus as a second heteroatom, the process comprising: reacting a trialkylsilyl cyanide with cyanamide as a neat mixture to prepare the desired N,N'-bis-trialkylsilyl carbodiimide. The reaction is practically complete in one minute. The compounds so prepared are intermediates in the preparation of polymers and precursors of carbodiimide.
Abstract: This invention relates to certain sulfonylurea compounds having a ring structure, which is attached ortho to the sulfonyl bridge through a double bond, agricultural compositions thereof and a method of their use as general preemergence and/or postemergence herbicides or plant growth regulants.
