Abstract: An aerobic method for in situ treatment of water and soil which has been contaminated with chlorinated hydrocarbons. The aerobic method involves feeding an aqueous solution of an oxygen source and nutrients without the addition of a flammable carbon source such as propane or methane gas to a contaminated area to cause the indigenous microorganisms to grow consuming the contaminants.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## are disclosed. These compounds intervene in the conversion of angiotensinogen to angiotensin II by inhibiting renin and thus are useful as antihypertensive agents.
Abstract: A multilayer membrane for performing reverse osmosis is disclosed. The membrane comprises a porous support and interfacially polymerized thereon a superposed layer of poly meta-phenylene tetrahydrofuran-2,3,4,5-tetracarboxamide in which up to 50 mole % of the tetrahydrofuran-2,3,4,5-tetracarboxamide units have been replaced with isophthalamide or terephthalamide units. The preferred material for forming the support is a polysulfone.
Abstract: Rapid-setting compositions based on MgO and Al(H.sub.2 PO.sub.4).sub.3 and having at least a ten-minute working time, and thus suitable for mortars and road patching, form concrete-like products having increased compressive strength when fly ash is present. Fly ash reacts with aluminum phosphate to form a cementitous composition whose compressive strength is the cause of the strength increase observed in the MgO/Al(H.sub.2 PO.sub.4).sub.3 reaction product.
Abstract: 5-Alkyl-2,3-diarylthiophenes, such as 5-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-2,3-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)thiophene, 5-(1-methylpropyl)-2,3-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)thiophene and 5-cyclohexyl-2,3-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)thiophene, are useful in the treatment of inflammation and/or pain.
Abstract: The present invention relates to new compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenyl, benzyl, cinnamoyl, thiophene, furan, pyrrole, imidazole, pyrazole oxazole or thiazole; W is hydrogen or hydroxy; (Y).sub.A is positioned ortho to W and is an aminoloweralkyl having the formula --CH.sub.2 NR.sub.2 R.sub.3 where R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are the same or different and may be lower alkyl or R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 may together with N form a pyrrolidine, piperidine or azepine ring, and A is 2; n and m are independently from 0 to 5; and R is straight or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, straight or branched C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 cycloalkyl, straight or branched C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkenyl or straight or branched C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkynyl, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. These compounds are useful in the treatment of various cardiac arrhythmias.

Abstract: A closed, cell culture device constructed using a first and second sheet of gas permeable, liquid-impermeable material. A third sheet of a material selectively permeable to a class of molecules sandwiched between the first and second sheets, all of the sheets being formed such that the first and third sheets define a first closed compartment and the second and third sheets define a second closed compartment, each compartment having an access port.
Abstract: This invention relates to certain pyrazole sulfonylurea herbicidal compounds, agriculturally suitable compositions thereof and a method of their use.
Abstract: A flame resistant and noxious chemical adsorbent, flexible, creped fabric suited for use as a protective garment is disclosed. The fabric is spunlaced and nonwoven and is impregnated with adsorbent carbonized particles.

Abstract: A heat exchanger for cooling liquid food products includes an elongated shell through which a refrigerant can be recirculated and hollow tubes extending within the shell interior in parallel spaced relation between its opposite ends for carrying the liquid food product. A pair of electropolished stainless steel tube sheets are attached to opposite ends of the shell and have openings defined therethrough. The tube sheets support the hollow tubes at their opposite ends in communication with the openings. Also, a pair of electropolished stainless steel end bonnets are releasably attached to the tube sheets and mounted for pivotal movement between opened and closed positions relative thereto. The end bonnets have flow return pockets defined therein which communicate pairs of openings with one another independently of others of the openings.
Abstract: A pre-filled syringe is provided with a retractile needle. The needle end of a syringe is enclosed in a sterile chamber within a casing sealed by a cap with a break-off tip. The barrel of the syringe is movable within the casing from a remote pre-injection position to a forward injection position and back again. When the barrel is moved forward a first end of the needle passes through the opening of the cap and then the opposite end comes in contact with the injectant. When the barrel is withdrawn to a pre-injection position, the needle is retracted within the casing and is prevented from re-entering the opening in the cap.
