Abstract: An athletic monitoring device for attachment to a portion of an athlete'body or to athletic equipment. The device measures a predetermined parameter of the motion of the device while in use and compares the measured parameter to a predetermined range. Intensity of acceleration is measured by taking the square root of the sum of the squares of acceleration data for each of the three axes of motion. This value is compared to a threshold value. If greater than the threshold value, the square root value is stored and added to a second measured intensity value. In this manner, a sum of intensity values throughout a stroke is calculated. If the sum of intensities is above or below a predetermined range, appropriate signalling will so indicate.
Abstract: A positive displacement device capable of performing the typical positive displacement device functions such as pump, generator, flow meter, etc. is presented. The device comprises a housing having interior surfaces defining an inlet and an outlet separated by two generally circular cylindrical fluid flow chambers. A fulcrum is near the center of the device. A positive displacement barrier separates the inlet from the outlet. The barrier which is the only moving part comprises two circular cylindrical pistons coupled by a generally planar plenum barrier. The plenum barrier slides back and forth and teeter totters on a fulcrum so that each piston is always sealing the inlet from the outlet along the inside of its associated cylinder while each piston orbits its cylinder in a different direction. Fluid is caused to move around the piston by the piston and its sealing point.

Abstract: A solvent-based thermosetting coating composition comprising a hydroxy functional epoxy resin, linear polycaprolactone diol, and blocked polyisocyanate crosslinking agent. The coating composition may be formulated as hot sprayable, high solids coating composition suitable for use as chip resistant automotive vehicle primer adapted for use on body panel areas subject to chipping by stones, gravel and other road debris. Alternatively, the composition may be formulated as a high solids composition sprayable with conventional spraying equipment. The hydroxy functional epoxy resin is formed by reaction of diepoxide, previously chain extended with diphenol, with hydroxy functional secondary amine in chain terminating reaction.

Abstract: A touch sensitive electronic musical or sound generating instrument is disclosed. The invention utilizes digital techniques to sense how hard any one of a plurality of push buttons on a keyboard is depressed or actuated. The instrument generates a desired or particular sound (such as a musical note) at a desired parameter such as volume, corresponding to how hard a specific button was depressed.
Abstract: A process for preparing a defect-free dry coated flexible web, e.g., plastic film, paper, comprising transporting a web freshly coated on one side, in floating and substantially flutter-free condition through a setting/drying zone having a series of sections each section having at least one push-type and one draw-type gas discharge device, e.g., air bar and air foil, respectively, impinging the web on the side opposite to the freshly coated side at an angle, respectively, of substantially 90.degree. and 0.5.degree. to 5.degree. relative to the transport direction of the moving web whereby a wave form, e.g., a single wave form such as a sinusoidal wave, having a repeating cycle of about 10 to 60 inches (25.4 to 152.4 cm) is produced in the web. The set web coating can be subsequently dried in a web drying zone, if required. The defect-free film is useful as an x-ray film, industrial testing film, graphic arts film, photosensitive element, plastic coated film or paper.
