  • Patent number: 4599039
Abstract: Stacks of superimposed paper sheets are formed from a succession of layers each of which contains a given number of groups of sheets. One or more layers which contain a first number of groups can be followed by one or more layers containing a different second number of groups so that a stack can contain layers which, in turn, contain different numbers of groups and hence different numbers of sheets. The number of sheets in each stack and in each layer is a whole multiple of the number of sheets in a group. If the average number of sheets in a series of successive stacks is to deviate from a whole multiple of the number of sheets in a group, successive stacks contain different numbers of sheets; each such number is a whole multiple of the number of sheets in a group but the total number of sheets in the series of stacks divided by the number of stacks which form the series can deviate from such whole multiple.

  • Patent number: 4597920
Abstract: A shrink film having high optical clarity, good shrink properties, and good mechanical properties is obtained by stretching biaxially, without prior crosslinking, a film made of a copolymer of ethylene with at least one C.sub.8 -C.sub.18 .alpha.-olefin, which copolymer has two distinct crystallite melting points below 128.degree. C., the difference between these melting points being at least 10.degree. C., and stretching being carried at a temperature within the range defined by these melting points. The above copolymer may be blended with a homopolymer of an .alpha.-olefin or copolymer with another .alpha.-olefin or another ethylenically unsaturated comonomer, which may constitute up to about 95 weight % of the blend. The shrink film of this invention is particularly suitable for wrapping consumer goods which have to maintain good sales appeal.

  • Patent number: 4597227
Abstract: A device for attaching a tool in portable angled grinders, allowing the connection to be released without special accessories. The device consists essentially of a hollow driveshaft, of a spindle that slides inside it, and of a tool-securing point consisting of a mating flange and nut. The nut is loosened by activating the displacing mechanism, which displaces the spindle toward the tool-securing point, lifting the nut, which is connected to the spindle by means of a threaded pin, off of the tool. The nut can then be screwed off by hand.

  • Patent number: 4597088
Abstract: An equalizer with two parallel branches for precursor and postcursor correction, receiving periodically incoming binary pulse samples, generates for each sample two purged symbols f, b at the outputs of these branches along with two decided symbols f and b, all of which are transmitted to a logic network checking whether or not the two decided symbols are identical. In the event of a disparity, the network produces an estimated signal s, calculates the absolute differences d.sub.sf, d.sub.sb between signals s and f, b, supplements them with further signals d.sub.f, d.sub.b representing the contributions of postcursors and precursors from one or more preceding and following samples, and compares resulting discriminatory signals D.sub.f and D.sub.b to determine which of the two decided symbols should be emitted as an output signal of the equalizer.
