Abstract: A multinodal data communication network permits the sharing of remote resources by a wide variety of computing devices. Data or messages generated at one device may be sent to any or all the other devices sharing a common transmission medium. Message handling capability of the network is increased by the use of a plurality of transmission media connected to the computing devices through interface stages. Both priority message transmission and improved acknowledgement protocols are implemented.

Abstract: Incorrect pairing of subsidiary printed circuit boards on opposite sides of a main circuit board is prevented by providing a key or orientation insert on each subsidiary circuit board which projects more than half way through an aperture in the main circuit board. Only subsidiary circuit boards with orientation inserts that complement one another in the main circuit board aperture can be mounted opposite one another on the main circuit board.
Abstract: Mounting for ignition module in which a ferromagnetic flux carrying core includes a plurality of spaced, parallel leg portions. An ignition coil module has a generally central opening which is adapted to receive one of the core legs. One recess is provided on the outer surface of the module, and a second recess is provided in the core leg adjacent the one on which the module is disposed. The two recesses are oriented and dimensioned to form complementary portions of an opening adapted to receive a resiliently flexible retaining pin therein to fasten the module and core in assembled relation.
Abstract: Packing apparatus for packing layers of cylindrical articles in a container. The apparatus includes means for accumulating a layer of alternately staggered lines of cylindrical articles arranged end-to-end at a pickup position. The apparatus also includes means for making vacuum contact with each article and transferring the entire layer to the container where it is released and forms a tightly packed flat layer. The packing apparatus also includes means for folding back the top flaps of each empty container as it is conveyed to the loading station.

Abstract: There is disclosed a solution of at least one fluoroxy compound, wherein said solution has a fluoroxy compound concentration of at least 0.5 meq/liter; said concentration containing about 35 to 100% of an acyl hypofluorite, based on the total number of equivalents of fluoroxy compounds present. The acyl hypofluorite has the formula X(CF.sub.2).sub.n COOF wherein X is H or F and n is 5 to 16. The solution is prepared by treating a suspension of a corresponding specified alkali salt with excess F.sub.2, and is useful as a selective fluorinating agent.
Abstract: New X-ray contrast agents are provided which are esters of diatrizoic acid having the structure ##STR1## wherein R is an alkyl group of 10 to 22 carbons or a group of the structure ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl group of 2 to 15 carbons. X-ray contrast medium containing the above X-ray contrast agent and a carrier therefor such as a liposome carrier, and a method for the X-ray visualization of body cavities and organs are also provided.
Abstract: Alkyl esters of CF.sub.2 .dbd.CFCOOH can be prepared from CF.sub.2 .dbd.CFCF.sub.2 OSO.sub.2 F by addition of bromine, reaction with F.sup.- to give CF.sub.2 BrCFBrCOF, esterification, and removal of bromine with zinc dust.
Abstract: Process for preparing multilayer printed circuits comprising laminating simultaneously or sequentially to a substrate bearing a circuit pattern two photopolymerizable layers, the lower layer formulated for bulk response as defined and the upper layer formulated for surface response as defined; exposing the laminate to actinic radiation through a circuit image related to the circuit pattern on the substrate; embedding finely divided metal, e.g., copper, to the tacky image areas; exposing the toned laminate to actinic radiation through an image of at least one overlying segment of the conductive circuit pattern; removing unexposed photopolymer from the two layers to form vias; embedding finely divided metal, e.g., copper, or catalyst to the side walls of the vias; optionally, curing the image by exposing to actinic radiation and/or by heating; plating to form an interconnected electrically conductive circuit.
Abstract: An improved method is provided for extruding a starch containing gel confection such as jelly bean centers, imitation fruit slices, and the like. The confection is prepared from a mixture of (a) a starch having a cold-water-solubility of greater than 25 percent, hydratable and functioning as a gelling colloid and (b) saccharides. The starch is heated at a temperature below the boiling point of the mixture to fully gelatinize the starch, and the mixture is extruded to provide the gel confection.
Abstract: Process for preparation of dot-etched photopolymerizable lithographic film which comprises (a) exposing imagewise a photopolymerizable element consisting essentially of a support and two layers of caustic soluble photopolymer, the upper layer being clear and the lower layer having dispersed therein a chemically soluble pigment, e.g., iron oxide; and optionally an overcoat layer; (b) developing the exposed element with caustic solution; and (c) treating the developed element with a chemical solubilizing agent for the pigment thereby reducing the size of the pigmented area by diffusion etching. A dot-etched lithographic film is prepared.
Abstract: A vapor inhalation device includes a container for medicated liquid to be vaporized and a cover situated over the container which communicates with a breathing mask which is positionable over the mouth and/or nose of the user. An insert having discharge openings and an atomizing device is arranged such that the vaporization rate of the medicated liquid in the container is enhanced through the introduction of a gaseous medium under pressure.
