  • Patent number: 4444377
Abstract: The improved crucible of the present invention both filters molten metal during the transfer of the molten metal from a supply receptacle such as a melting furnace to a receiving receptacle such as a mold. The transfer crucible of the present invention may be either portable or permanently mounted. The present invention relates to both the design of the improved transfer crucible and to the method for using the improved transfer crucible. The transfer crucible of the present invention is fitted with one or more removable blades, each of which contains a filter element. Molten metal can be filtered while the crucible is being filled with molten metal, during transfer of molten metal, or if desired molten metal can be filtered both on entry into and on exit from the transfer crucible.

  • Patent number: 4442823
Abstract: A pitching machine and control system which will pitch any baseball pitch desired on command with all parameters of each pitch chosen before the pitch of the ball. The system measures and counteracts the effects of the prevailing weather upon the ball then delivers the ball to the chosen point in the target zone. The parameters of the pitch are: orientation of the seams of the ball with respect to the access of spin, orientation of the access of spin with respect to the direction of travel, location of the release point with respect to the center of the machine (including both height and width), velocity of the ball, magnitude of the spin of the ball, and initial direction of the ball. The target parameters which are also selected before pitch are the target location with respect to the release point of the ball. Internal settings of the machine are adjusted to satisfy the pitch, and target parameters and the prevailing weather. Pitch and target parameters can be stored and played back to control the system.

  • Patent number: 4443296
Abstract: A process is provided for the removal from paper pulp of impurities, the pulp being contained in a pulping machine. Some of the pulp is periodically transferred into an enclosed chamber annexed to the pulping machine, the chamber having a volume which is small compared to the volume of the pulping machine. The pulp in the chamber is stirred and separated by a rotor, and fibre suspension is returned to the pulping machine, dilution water being introduced into this chamber. The chamber is emptied and impurities thereafter discharged.

  • Patent number: 4443191
Abstract: An apparatus for the production of maxillar models through cephalometric analysis with auxiliary graduated occlusal plane by simplifying the construction of maxillar models and its anatomic relation, obtaining greater exactness in the correction of the dentomaxillofacial anomalies and reducing the time of confection of the models. The apparatus is formed of a single base having two towers set with condylar elements that support an upper section that holds the condylar movables. The base and the upper section support both the mandibular and the palatal plates with their platforms. The occlusal plate is placed between these two plates resting over two leading rods.
