  • Patent number: 4400790
Abstract: A segmented, transversal correlator for use in a spread spectrum communications system accurately synchronizes to an incoming spread signal by passively searching for a particular section of a known reference PN code sequence. To achieve correlator lengths of greater than one data bit long, the correlator may comprise a plurality of correlation subsections, each including a loading register for storing a different section of the overall reference PN code sequence. A section of the PN code sequence is transferred into a circulating register in each subsection through a parallel transfer. The dynamic, circulating PN code sequence is then correlated against statically stored analog samples of the incoming spread signal. When the dynamic PN reference code sequence is aligned with the corresponding PN sequence in the analog samples, a correlation signal is produced and magnitude detected to form a signal which is applied to a summation circuit.

  • Patent number: 4400187
Abstract: A tubular container mounted in series with a compressed air line. The container includes a hollow cylindrical body, a hollow cylindrical screen member mounted inside the body and means supporting the hollow cylindrical screen in communication with an entry end of the body. A plug of porous water absorbent material surrounds the screen member. The plug of porous material absorbs droplets of water in the stream of compressed air passing through the tubular container and provides a surface from which the water evaporates as the compressed air passes through the plug.

  • Patent number: 4399224
Abstract: It has been discovered that phosphatides contain certain carbohydrates which adversely affect their functional properties. By hydrolyzing such carbohydrates with an effective amount of carbohydrase, the physical and functional properties of such phosphatides are significantly improved. In the manufacture of lecithin, wet gums enzymatically treated with carbohydrases dehydrate more rapidly into a low moisture lecithin product. The enzymatic treatment also fluidizes phosphatide compositions and stabilizes the compositions against solidification.

  • Patent number: 4399264
Abstract: Perfluoro-1,3-dioxole is a useful monomer, which polymerizes to either amorphous or liquid homopolymers and copolymerizes with tetrafluoroethylene as well as with other monomers to both crystalline and amorphous copolymers having one or more such comonomers incorporated therein. Amorphous homopolymers and copolymers of perfluoro-1,3-dioxole are useful in such applications as glazing for reactors for hydrogen fluoride reactions. Amorphous homopolymers and amorphous or crystalline copolymers form self-supporting films and can be used for coatings and linings which are inert to most chemicals and are stain and weather resistant and as dielectrics for electrical and electronic equipment. Liquid homopolymers can be used as hydraulic fluids and heat exchange media.

  • Patent number: 4399290
Abstract: Optically active tert-alkyl 7-2(oxo-5-carbonyloxypyrrolidinyl)heptanoates and their preparation by reaction of racemic tert-alkyl 7-(2-oxo-5-carboxypyrrolidinyl)heptanoate with an optically active amine to form resolved d or l amine salts which are then reacted with acid to form resolved acid intermediates. Esterification of these acid intermediates produces resolved d or l esters which are useful to make optically active 8-azaprostanoids having biological activity.

  • Patent number: 4399222
Abstract: Acidophilic and acidoduric streptomycetes strains have been found to produce carbohydrases. These Streptomyces effectively elaborate glucose isomerase under acid conditions typically unfavorable for growth of conventional glucose isomerase producing Streptomyces. Sterilization of the culture and production media may be avoided by selectively propagating newly discovered Streptomyces acidodurans under acidic conditions which will effectively eliminate contaminating microorganisms. The Streptomyces acidodurans herein also have the ability to undergo cultivation and elaborate glucose isomerase over a relatively broad pH range. Constitutive streptomycetes strains have also been isolated. Glucose isomerases derived from these Streptomyces strains are particularly effective for isomerizing glucose syrups to fructose-containing syrups.
