Abstract: A security paper is provided in which identifying material is contained as an intercalary layer within the thickness of a bonded, nonwoven, polyethylene-film-fibril sheet having an opacity of at least 70% and a delamination resistance of at least 60 grams per centimeter. A process for making such paper includes forming an assembly of two unbonded, lightly consolidated, nonwoven, polyethylene film-fibril sheets containing identifying material between them, compressing the assembly in an unheated nip at 17 to 85 kilograms per centimeter of assembly width and then self-bonding the compressed assembly while under restraint by contact with a heated drum. Such security paper is useful for bank notes, stock certificates, paper currency and the like.

Abstract: Postformable solar selective coatings are disclosed for use on substrates such as aluminum. The coatings use a finely divided black inherently selective spinel pigment such as Co.sub.3 O.sub.4, CuCr.sub.2 O.sub.4 or Cu.sub.x Co.sub.3-x O.sub.4 where x is 0.03 to 0.3 and preferably 0.10 to 0.30. The binders are soluble copolymers of vinylidene fluoride or blends thereof or vinylidene fluoride with a copolymer of methyl methacrylate.
Abstract: To convert a sample of an amplitude-modulated voltage wave into binary pulses, the sample is simultaneously compared in two coders with two sets of threshold voltages of positive and negative polarity, respectively. Either one of the two coders yields in unbroken succession of pulses, having the same polarity as the sample, whereas the other coder produces a combination of both positive and negative pulses. Following inversion of the pulses issuing from one coder, and upon suppression of the pulses of one polarity (e.g. negative), the two pulse trains are combined into a series of bit groups each representing the absolute amplitude value of a respective sample. The final step in the processing of any sample is the generation of a sign bit in accordance with the polarity of the unipolar pulse train emitted by one of the coders; this sign bit is then transposed to the beginning of the corresponding group of amplitude bits.

Abstract: An improved process for preparing a dialkyl propanediimidate dihydrohalide by reacting malononitrile, an alkyl alcohol, and hydrogen halide, wherein the improvement comprises conducting the reaction in an alkyl acetate as a solvent.
Abstract: Fructose productivity and isomerase activity in immobilized beds or column operations employing isomerases obtained from Bacillus organisms are significantly improved by isomerizing a high solids feed syrup at pH 7.0-7.5 and 55.degree. C. to 60.degree. C. Without adding cobalt to the feed streams, continuous column operation in excess of 4,000 hours and yielding greater than 3,500 pounds of a 42% fructose syrup for each pound of isomerase can be achieved.
Abstract: A process and apparatus for packaging products such as dusty powders are provided. The apparatus is an enclosed housing (e.g., a glove box) with an open lower end and having two glove openings with gloves attached, an opening for attaching a waste disposal bag thereto, and an optional opening for attaching a bag for product samples. The glove box has means for securing a bag in a filling position around the lower end and has the discharge end of a product fill pipe extending into the open lower end. There are vacuum means for applying a vacuum to the inside of the glove box and for applying a vacuum from the inside through apertures circumferentially arranged around the lower edge of the glove box. The described process involves attaching a bag, e.g., polyethylene bag, around the open lower end of an enclosed filling chamber (e.g.

Abstract: Disclosed is a presently preferred embodiment of an electronic competitive player response game apparatus having at least three and preferably four player stations. Each of the disclosed stations is provided with a lamp for designating which one of the stations is "active," and with a set of push button switches for permitting a player, when his station is active, to select the next active station by the timely actuation of the proper switch. The disclosed apparatus is also provided with a game start switch for causing the commencement of a game round, and with electronic circuitry for controlling the game's progress.
Abstract: Thermally coalescible acrylic resin dispersions comprising particles of single-phase, surfactant-free, random acrylic polymers or copolymers, containing at least 80% by weight of acrylic units, dispersed in a surfactant-free medium that comprises a compatible liquid plasticizer that is nonvolatile at room temperature and is not a monomer of any of the polymeric components. Incorporation of a photopolymerizable, ethylenically unsaturated compound provides photosensitive dispersions useful for making relief and planographic printing plates, photoresists, and the like.
