Abstract: A bicycle cable locking system in which a double length cable stowed in one of the frame tubes automatically surrounds the head as it is withdrawn from a stowed position to an extended position, and a double or single length cable stowed in one of the frame tubes that automatically retracts back into the stowed position when it is released from an extended position. The ends of the cable may be secured with an in-line lock integral to the cable or with a pad lock by constructing the ends the cable as a loop.
Abstract: Disclosed are ternary azeotropic, azeotrope-like, and zeotropic compositions of ammonia, pentafluoroethane and difluoromethane. These compositions are useful as refrigerants, and particularly as high capacity and efficiency alternatives to binary mixtures of difluoromethane and pentafluoroethane.

Abstract: A process for increasing the relative viscosity (RV) of a reactant polyamide and to products produced by the process. The process includes contacting the reactant polyamide and a chain extender compound, forming the product, and quenching the product when its RV is near its maximum calculated RV value.
Abstract: Novel addressing schemes for controlling electronically addressable displays include the use of addressing signals with additional signals having opposite polarity and equal integrated signal strength and addressing schemes that minimize the number of state changes that a display element undergoes. In one embodiment, pre-pulses are employed to apply a pre-stress to an display element that is equal and opposite to the electrical stress applied in addressing the element. In another embodiment, the addressing signal is followed by a post-stressing pulse. Methods for minimizing the number of display elements that must change state to change the image displayed include the determination of a set of elements that must be deactivated and a set of elements that must be activated to change the image depicted by a display.

Abstract: Multilayer articles, particularly multilayer articles having electrical or ionic conductivity, are made using an improved melt extrusion process. The process includes a combination step in which a macroscopically homogeneous mass is formed prior to introduction into an extruder. The multilayer article may include an electrode layer and a separator layer that are extruded onto a metal current collector. Such structures are particularly useful in lithium-ion batteries.

Abstract: An apparatus for inflating a tire mounted on a rim can include a conveyor for transporting a tire mounted on a rim to a predetermined position at a tire inflating work station. The conveyor can include carrier surfaces spaced laterally with respect to one another along a path of travel for engaging the tire and rim for transport. The carrier surfaces are moveable along the path of travel and moveable vertically between a raised transport position and a lowered transfer position. A support surface at the tire inflating workstation has at least two portions. The portions include at least one interlocking joint for holding the portions of the support surface in sealing engagement with respect to one another during an inflation process. An apparatus for inflating a tire mounted on a rim can include a reciprocal inflation head moveable from a first position spaced from the tire to a second position engagable with the side wall of the tire for communicating pressurized fluid to inflate the tire on the rim.

Abstract: Nitrile/fluoroalcohol-containing photoresists and associated processes for microlithography are described. These photoresists are comprised of a fluoroalcohol functional group and a nitrile-containing compound which together simultaneously impart high ultraviolet (UV) transparency and developability in basic media to these materials. The materials of this invention have high UV transparency, particularly at short wavelengths, e.g., 157 nm, which makes them highly useful for lithography at these short wavelengths.

Abstract: A universal conduit connector. The universal conduit connector has a flexible conduit with an intermediate portion of a predetermined length with identical connector ends affixed to ends of the flexible conduit. Each connector end has a stem extending therefrom and has a through hole formed therethrough. The stems have intermediate portions with a smaller diameter and a beveled barb on a tip of the stem with a larger diameter. A plurality of threaded nut cups are provided, each having an aperture formed therein that is sized larger than the diameter of the barb tip. A plurality of resilient washers dimensioned to fit within a matched threaded nut cup and having a through hole sized to fit tightly around the intermediate portion of the stem are provided. The resilient washers are adapted to be engaged with the engagement means to retain the threaded nut cup with the connector ends.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an evaporation device 1 for volatile substances, in particular insecticides and/or aromatics, which includes a housing 2 and a heating unit 10 located therein. Heating Unit 10 comprises a heating block 11 in which an electric resistance element 15 is contained for heating. In addition device 1 includes a container 3 that can be connected to housing 2 for a substance to be evaporated.
