Abstract: A toughened polyacetal resin composition, and a process for making same, is provided by mixing a polyacetal masterbatch component, prepared from polyacetal and a relatively large amount of polyurethane, with a polyacetal dilution component so as to generate a blended composition in which the content of the thermoplastic polyurethane is about 1 to about 15 wt % of the total weight of the blended composition.

The polyamine is provided on an average with at least two amine functionalities per polymer chain and the polyketimine is provided on an average with at least two ketimine functionalities per polymer chain. A reactive diluent in the binder component includes a macromolecule substantially free from acrylate functionalities and having at least two acetoacetate functionalities per the macromolecule. If desired, the coating composition includes a binder polymer. The coating composition of the invention is particularly suited in automotive refinish coatings.

Abstract: A hot cup apparatus including a locking device for locking a hot cup into the hot cup apparatus, and comprising a mounting bracket for being mounted to a support surface. The mounting bracket includes a mechanical interface for receiving and holding the hot cup in a stationary position adjacent the mounting bracket. A glide block is mounted on said mounting bracket and extends outwardly therefrom in partially-surrounding relation to the hot cup. Abstract: An antistatic composition for treating a substrate such as paper for use in a photocopier or the like, in rolls, or bundles in which sheets of the substrate are individually fed from a bundle of sheets of the substrate, comprises a single phase hydrocarbon oil composition. The hydrocarbon oil may optionally include additional antistatic additives. The composition reduces static between the individual sheets in the bundle, thus reducing paper misfeeds and jams when individual sheets in the bundle are fed into the photocopier. Also disclosed is a method of treating a substrate for use in a photocopier in which sheets of the substrate are individually fed from a bundle of sheets of the substrate, or rolls of a substrate, with an antistatic composition to reduce static between the individual sheets of the substrate. The method includes applying an antistatic composition including a hydrocarbon oil to at least one lateral margin of the bundle of sheets of the substrate.

Abstract: A cable, in particular a cable for electric power transmission or distribution, having an inner layer comprising a self-repairing material with a predetermined cohesiveness and a controlled flowability, so as to re-establish, upon creation of a discontinuity in at least one of the cable coating layers, the continuity in the coating. The discontinuity in the coating can be caused by mechanical abuses of various types, for example accidental impact with cutting tools. Infiltration of moisture and generation of leakage currents, leading to a rapid corrosion of the conductor, are in this way avoided.

Abstract: A light transmitting device comprising or incorporating a broadband Bragg grating that is formed in the direction of light propagation with grating regions of alternatingly high and low refractive index. The grating regions are formed with periodicity P and are structured as to amplitude, periodicity and/or phase in a manner which varies periodically with a modulation period L>P.
