Abstract: A replaceable signal cable for connection of a specific type of cellular phone to a sound controlled or externally dialed hand-free system enables the hand-free system to be adapted for universal use on all types of cellular phones by simple selection of a proper signal cable in use. In other words, it relates more particularly to a signal cable for a hand-free system, which can be selectively replaced with ease so as to make all types of cellular phones universally adapted to one single hand-free system. The signal cable is equipped with a first connecting plug coupled with a cellular phone and a second connecting plug connected to a hand-free system. A dial-decoding IC or circuitry housed in either the first connecting plug for a cellular phone or the second connecting plug for a hand-free system is adopted according to codes set by a standard communication protocol for each type of cellular phone.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid, substantially anhydrous eutectic mixture comprising a principal acid component, such as a hydroxy acid, and at least one other component selected from the group consisting of a carbohydrate, a polyol, an amino acid, and a carboxylic acid. The mixtures remain liquid at room temperature, are relatively non-irritating, and can be used to deliver higher levels of the principal acid than would ordinarily be possible. The invention also provides a method of making such a mixture comprising heating the component having the lowest melting point to the temperature at which it melts, dissolving the remaining component or components in the melted component, and allowing the mixture to cool.
Abstract: Mixtures of different polyolefins may be made by direct, preferably simultaneous, polymerization of one or more polymerizable olefins using two or more transition metal containing active polymerization catalyst systems, one of which contains nickel complexed to selected ligands. The polyolefin products may have polymers that vary in molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, crystallinity, or other factors, and are useful as molding resins and for films.
Abstract: Methods of pouring liquids from bottles have the steps of providing a pouring head with at least two functionally different modes of pouring, i.e. electronically timed pouring with automatic shut-off, and free pouring either with or without an annunciator signal, and the step of selecting one of the modes at the time of dispensing. Further, the steps of providing a normally open magnetically latched valve, and momentarily de-magnetizing to drop the valve and terminate pouring, and the steps of shaking the valve back on to magnetic and electrically sensing the presence of the valve and electrically starting a subsequent pour while the bottle remains inverted. A further step has free pouring with sensory annunciation of the completion of pouring, with the preferred annunciation being a blinking light signal.
Abstract: A process for increasing the pill resistance of a polyester polymer wherein the polyester polymer is produced by polymerizing a polymerization mixture comprising (a) a carbonyl compound or an oligomer of the carbonyl compound and (b) a glycol. The process comprises contacting the polymerization mixture with a cross-linker comprising (RO)mSi(X)nZp, wherein: R is hydrogen, a hydrocarbon, or a hydrocarbon oxygen; X is a hydrocarbon or a hydrocarbon oxygen; Z is a hydrophilic group; m is 1 to 3; n is 1 to 3; and p is 1 to 30.
Abstract: This invention concerns a process for the manufacture of anhydro- and dianhydro-hexitols, pentitols, and tetritols by the dehydration of sugar alcohols (alditols) in the presence of a dehydration catalyst.
Abstract: A computer based browsing computer program product, system and method arranges a set of information hosted on a computer into a book or a set of books, where each book includes a subset of the set of information, labels each book with a respective portion of the subset of the set of information, and selects a book from the set of books. Selecting the book from the set of books includes steps of displaying the respective portions of the books as a book document image that includes pages which correspond to the respective portions of the books, generating a command for moving through the pages, displaying an animated image of the pages of the book document being at least one of flipped, scrolled, slid and flashed images, and selecting the book when a selected one of the pages containing a selection portion of the book is earlier displayed.
Abstract: Process for the production of powder finishes on metallic or non-metallic surfaces, characterized in that powder coating compositions are used which contain resins which may be crosslinked by means of functional groups capable of forming hydrogen bonds, wherein the functional groups are present at a concentration of greater than 100 mmol/kg of powder coating composition, the powder coating compositions are applied to the substrate and are melted and cured by NIR irradiation.

Abstract: A stop and method for anchoring a floor covering stretching system and in particular, a power stretcher system. The stop is invertible and has a sufficient beam structure to act as an anchor for a power stretcher for a floor covering whether used as a tail stop against a vertical surface, with the gripper protrusions facing upward and out of contact with the floor covering, or by inverting the stop such that the gripper protrusions are in contact with the floor covering is operable as an anchor at intermediate points, in the room where a vertical surface is unable to be used as a tail stop anchor support.
Abstract: A receiver element for use in a thermal imaging process, wherein a surface of a pigment-image receiving layer of the receiver element has a roughness, and the surface is brought into contact with a thermally imageable element, wherein the pigment-image receiving layer provided on the receiver element has an average roughness (Ra) of less than about 1&mgr; and has surface irregularities having a plurality of peaks, at least about 50 of the peaks having a height of at least about 200 nm and a diameter of about 100 pixels over a surface area of about 458&mgr; by about 602&mgr;. These roughened receiver elements substantially reduce the micro-dropouts.

Abstract: A branched polyolefin, preferably a polyethylene, and containing branches with even and odd numbers of carbon atoms, may be made by oligomerizing ethylene to an &agr;-olefin using a selected iron containing catalyst, and then copolymerizing that &agr;-olefin with ethylene and one or more other added &agr;-olefins which have odd numbers of carbon atoms. The polymers are useful, for example, as molding resins.
Abstract: A composition suitable for thermoforming which demonstrates good grain retention at thin gauges, low gloss and whose cost is competitive for many applications, particularly in the automotive industry, is described. This composition contains (a) 10-35 wt. % of polypropylene or an ethylene/propylene copolymer, (b) 0-30 wt. % uncrosslinked ethylene propylene copolymer rubber having an ethylene content 60-80 wt. %, (c) 10-25 wt. % of an ionomeric copolymer of ethylene and an &agr;, &bgr;-unsaturated C3-C8 carboxylic acid, (d) 2-6 wt. % of a copolymer of ethylene and glycidyl acrylate or glycidyl methacrylate, (e) 5-20 wt. % polyethylene, and (f) 0-25 wt. % of an ethylene alpha-olefin copolymer elastomer.
Abstract: A valve capable of controlling fluid flow at high temperatures and high-pressures. The valve can shut off or regulate flow and combines a small compact shape with the ability to be remotely operated and the ability to process a diverse variety of fluids including polymer melts at extreme temperatures and pressures including two phase fluids. The valve includes a process diaphragm that deflects to seat against a valve seat, a control diaphragm that deflects to contact against a stop surface, and a cylindrical actuating button therebetween. The actuating button has respective end surfaces that contact against the process diaphragm and the control diaphragm. The button end surfaces on the button are spaced apart by a button length. When assembled, the distance between the valve seat and the stop surface is greater than the button length by about the sum of the deflections of the diaphragms.
