  • Patent number: 5642777
Abstract: A fin tube heat exchanger for use in an air conditioner includes a plurality of fin plates spaced at regular intervals, disposed in parallel with one another. A plurality of heat exchange tubes extend through the fin plates in a direction perpendicular to planes in which the fin plates lie. A plurality of raised strips formed in a lower row have a height lower than those on the highest row, which causes water drops to readily drop along the fin plate. A plurality of embossed projection parts may be formed instead of or in addition to the raised strips.

  • Patent number: 5644360
Abstract: In a projection television system, a blue phosphor roll-off compensation network is included in the emitter circuit of a common emitter configured transistor comprising the driver amplifier for the blue cathode ray tube. The roll-off compensation network includes a voltage divider connected between the emitter of the common emitter configured transistor and a source of a bias voltage, and a second transistor having its base connected to a point within the voltage divider and its collector-emitter path connected in series with a gain changing resistor between the emitter of the common emitter configured transistor and the source of the variable bias voltage. The voltage divider determines the level of drive current at which the second transistor is rendered conductive and thereby the point at which roll-off compensation is applied. The gain changing resistor determines the amount of compensation.

  • Patent number: 5644196
Abstract: A differentiation network differentiates a retrace pulse signal to produce a narrower pulse during the first half of retrace that is coupled to an input of a convergence amplifier. The convergence amplifier is coupled to a convergence winding to produce a convergence current. The narrower pulse produces an overshoot at the amplifier input and, thereby, speeds up the response time to the convergence amplifier.

  • Patent number: 5644198
Abstract: A flyback transformer (FBT) driving apparatus for video display appliances which can prevent deterioration of the FBT efficiency caused by excessive horizontal frequency input. The FBT driving apparatus employs a PWM-type circuit to evenly maintain the Vcc power supply provided to the primary winding of the FBT irrespective of the excessive horizontal frequency input. The FBT driving apparatus makes use of the horizontal frequency per se in the low frequency band, while dividing the horizontal frequency by a half in the high frequency band to enable operation of the FBT by means of ordinary rectifying diodes even in the input of the high horizontal frequency and to prevent deterioration of the FBT efficiency caused by input of the high horizontal frequency.

  • Patent number: 5642172
Abstract: An image compensation system and methods for video appliances to reproduce an optimum image, by the judged exterior environment and by compensating for an original image by judging exterior environment. According to the system and methods, a color sensor senses color of exterior lighting of an appliance, and provides electrical signals corresponding to color components of the sensed color. The signals are converted into a digital value by an analog-to-digital converter. A microprocessor judges the type of exterior lighting, by the digitized values, and searches for image compensation data according to the judged exterior lighting. It thereby makes a video processor compensate for an original image signal.

  • Patent number: 5642337
Abstract: A storage system in which a plurality of optical or magneto-optical disk jukeboxes which operate on SCSI commands are intercoupled on a network so as to provide a virtually limitless mass storage system. A network server receives SCSI format commands, encodes them to the network format and places the commands on the network bus. A firmware interface unit at the jukebox containing the requested information receives the network format data and converts it back into SCSI format for processing at the jukebox. The jukebox retrieves the data, sends it back to the interface unit which encodes it into network format and sends it back onto the bus to the network server. The network server receives the data, decodes the data and forwards it to the client which requested the data.

  • Patent number: 5641946
Abstract: Method and circuit board structure for leveling the tops of solder balls of a BGA semiconductor package is disclosed. In order to level the solder balls, the sizes of solder ball lands used for welding the solder balls to the circuit board are controlled in accordance with portions of the circuit board. The invention thus achieves the coplanarity of the solder balls regardless of thermal bending of the plastic body and circuit board of the BGA semiconductor package. In an embodiment, a plurality of solder ball lands having different sizes are formed on the circuit board prior to forming the solder balls on the lands. In another embodiment, a plurality of solder ball lands having the same size are formed on the circuit board prior to forming an insulating mask on the circuit board in order to form differently-sized exposed inside portions of solder ball lands.

  • Patent number: 5641953
Abstract: AC power at 15 amps and a radio frequency signal are transmitted in a coaxial cable to a telecommunications amplifier. The AC signal is separated from the RF signal by a radio frequency module. The AC signal is converted to a regulated DC voltage for supplying power to condition and amplify the radio frequency signal transmitted from the amplifier. A power supply module in the amplifier is connected through a bank of fuses and a power switch to the RF module. A cover plate overlies the fuses and the electrical connection between the power supply module and the RF module. The power switch includes a toggle lever movable between power on and power off positions to transmit power between the modules. To prevent exposure of operating personnel and the electrical equipment to the hazards of high voltage and electric shock, the toggle switch obstructs movement of the cover plate exposing the fuses in a power on position.
