Abstract: Various embodiments provide a method of simulating a leak in a pipeline. The method includes: receiving a fluid stream from a fluid supply; and outputting the received fluid stream through an outlet such that the received fluid stream hits an outer surface of the pipeline at a location opposite the outlet such that a vibration is caused in the pipeline. Some other embodiments provide a corresponding system for simulating a leak in a pipeline, and a corresponding outlet for coupling a conduit to a pipeline.

Abstract: Systems and methods of chemical process simulation providing improved methods and systems for expressing the composition of a stream in a chemical process model in a manner that is not immediately indicative of the underlying composition, providing for improved accuracy of allocation of a process output stream to the appropriate source(s), avoiding duplication of components or other inaccurate component representations in relation to critical calculations, and improving the operation of a computer or other computing system for performing chemical process modeling and simulation. Abstract: A semiconductor substrate and a method of manufacturing the same are provided. The semiconductor substrate includes a dielectric layer, at least one first conductive trace, and a conductive via. The dielectric layer has a first dielectric surface and a second dielectric surface opposite to the first dielectric surface. The first conductive trace is disposed adjacent to the first dielectric surface of the dielectric layer. The conductive via is disposed adjacent to the second dielectric surface of the dielectric layer and connected to the first conductive trace, where the conductive via and the first conductive trace are connected at a first interface leveled with about a half thickness of the dielectric layer.

Abstract: The invention relates to a roof rack roof rack for a motor vehicle, having a roof rail profile. Abstract: A reflectometer system for use with a non-contact actinic system includes a primary lens, and an illumination source and a detector positioned on an observation side of the primary lens opposite a goods production area and sample region. The illumination source emits an illumination beam through an illumination beam void between the primary lens and the housing, which is directed into the goods production area and sample region, and onto a flow or static sample of material to be tested. The material being tested then create a reflected beam, which shines back to the observation side of the primary lens through the primary lens to the detector. The general alignment of the illumination beam and the reflected beam create an extended sample region within the goods production area, as well as a compact reflectometer system structure.

Abstract: A two-part fastener with an insert and a compression sleeve. The insert is an internally-threaded fastener intended to be installed into a hole of a very hard panel. The insert itself is relatively hard with a knurled outer barrel portion and a flange at the bottom. A compression sleeve is made of relatively soft material and is preassembled around the barrel of the insert by friction fit. Upon installation into a panel with a blind hole having parallel sides, the compression sleeve is pressed into the panel and deforms outwardly between the insert and the side wall of the hole. Friction between the compression sleeve and the wall of the hole prevents torque out and pull out of the fastener from the panel.

The material (15) is applied using a method and apparatus (100) in which the spacing of the apparatus nib (14) from which the material (15) is applied, from the garment (2) and/or contact of the nib (14) with the garment (2) is controlled by support members (112, 114) such that the material (15) is applied onto the garment (2) and adheres thereto in a manner in which the desired effect of the material (15) is achieved without the material subsequently causing discolouration and/or passing through the garment (2).

Abstract: An insert for sealing a hole having a diameter. The insert includes a plug having a maximum outer diameter that is equal to or less than the diameter of the hole. The plug also has a sleeve, a core, and a pin. The sleeve has a length and a void. The core and the pin are both press-fit into the void at opposite ends of the void. The core has a first length, a first tapered outer wall, and a threaded hole extending partly through the core. The pin has a second length, a second tapered outer wall, and a passage extending there-through. The plug also has protrusions located on an outer surface of the sleeve.
Abstract: An apparatus and a system is provided that may be utilized to determine air flow through an air filter and/or a plurality of air filters. The present invention utilizes a demonstration apparatus to illustrate the differences in air flow and air restriction between a plurality of different air filters and filtration media. The apparatus and system utilizes a common plenum which subjects the plurality of air filters to the same differential pressure. The air flows through a first side of the air filter and is measured on the second side of the air filter by utilizing a wind meter or similar device to gauge the amount of air flow velocity of the second side of the filter. Additionally, the apparatus and system utilizes a display means to illustrate the differing air velocity through the second side of the air filter.
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to detection of a broken conductor in an electric power system. In one embodiment, a broken conductor detector may be configured to be mounted to an electrical conductor and may comprise a communication subsystem configured to transmit a signal configured to indicate that the conductor is broken. A sensor may determine an operating vector. A processing subsystem may be configured to receive the operating vector from the sensor and to identify when the operating vector is outside of a range defined by a rest vector and a threshold value. In certain embodiments, the threshold may comprise a three-dimensional sphere. The processing subsystem may determine that the conductor is broken based on the operating vector remaining outside of the range for a period of time determined by the timer subsystem. A signal may be transmitted by the communication subsystem to indicate that the conductor is broken.

Abstract: A method for establishing downlink telemetry communication to a downhole system involves placing into a drillstring a telemetry transcoder, and advancing the drillstring so the telemetry transcoder is below the surface. The method then transmits downlink EM telemetry signals from surface equipment. These signals are received at the telemetry transcoder which retransmits the signals as mud pulse signals. The mud pulse signals are received at the downhole system.
