  • Patent number: 10948081
Abstract: A continuously variable transmission, a vehicular powertrain that includes a continuously variable transmission and a method of limiting belt slippage in a continuously variable transmission in a vehicle. The continuously variable transmission includes a pulley assembly, shafts, a clutch and hydraulic system. The hydraulic system is cooperative with both the clutch and the pulley assembly so that hydraulic pressures and associated clamping forces sent to both allow the clutch to preferentially absorb any driving load coming from the axle and wheels that is in excess of the normal load experienced at the continuously variable transmission. This in turn means that any additional load that would ordinarily cause slippage in the belt is instead experienced by the clutch.

  • Patent number: 10947631
Abstract: The present invention relates to nonferrous metallurgy, in particular to the process equipment for electrolytic production of primary aluminum, namely to methods for lining cathode assemblies of reduction cells. A method for lining a cathode of a reduction cell for production of aluminum includes filling a cathode device shell with a thermal insulation layer and leveling said layer; filling, leveling and compacting a refractory layer; installing bottom and side blocks followed by sealing joints therebetween with a cold ramming paste. Prior to filling a shell bottom with the thermal insulation layer, a layer of fine carbonized particles is formed. The inventive method for lining a cathode assembly of a reduction cell for production of primary aluminum allows to reduce the cost of lining materials and energy consumption for reduction cell operation by means of improved heat resistance of a base and to increase the service life of reduction cells.

  • Patent number: 10946535
Abstract: The soft bodied structures and systems for controlling such devices are described herein. The soft bodied structures can move from a first position to a second position by an earthworm-like motion. The system can include connecting to a first contact point of the surface using a surface attachment. The medial region can include one or more spacer regions. The medial actuators can be actuated to expand the exterior medial surface at the spacer regions, thus moving the unattached end portion forward. The device can then attach to a second contact point using the surface attachment and the end portion actuator of the unattached end portion. Then, the surface attachment of the first attached end portion can detach. The medial actuators and the spacer regions can then relax, followed by detaching the surface attachment of the second attached end portion.

  • Patent number: 10946705
Abstract: A flight module includes a rotor and a rotor carrier. The rotor carrier includes an elongate, upstanding carriage rail, a carriage supported for movement along the carriage rail, an elongate rotor arm carrying the rotor and supported atop the carriage rail for pivotation, and an elongate strut pivotally mounted between the carriage and the rotor arm. The pivotation includes pivotation between alongside the carriage rail, where the rotor arm retentively carries the rotor in a stowage position, and overhanging the carriage rail, where the rotor arm retentively carries the rotor with a skyward-facing orientation in a flight position. With movement of the carriage along the carriage rail, the strut transfers loading between the carriage and the rotor arm for pivoting the rotor arm between alongside the carriage rail and overhanging the carriage rail, and thereby carrying the rotor on the rotor arm between its stowage position and its flight position.
