  • Publication number: 20160231489
Abstract: A phase converting device capable of use over a broad wavelength range, which may be used for optical beam transformations and combining, conversion of resonator and waveguide modes, correction of aberrations in optical systems, and selection of photons with specific phase profile. This provides significant advantages in high power laser systems. Large-mode-area fibers can be used to provide higher incident powers than can be achieved by single-mode fibers, reducing the number of elements in a system necessary to achieve the desired output. The profiles of these LMA fiber modes can then be converted from the undesired modes into the desired mode while combing their total power into a single beam.

  • Patent number: 9413495
Abstract: A delayed acknowledgement transmission method and an apparatus are provided for improving communication performance of a system and a terminal by delaying an ACKnowledgement (ACK) transmission of the terminal in a handover procedure. The method includes transmitting an acknowledgement corresponding to a segment immediately upon receipt of the segment, detecting a delay condition event which is triggered when a difference between a signal strength of the source base station and a neighboring base station is equal to or greater than a predefined offset, calculating a delay value for delaying acknowledgement transmission corresponding to the segment received after detecting the delay condition event, and transmitting the segment received after the detection of the delay condition event by delaying by as much as a time corresponding to the delay value. The apparatus is capable of avoiding a router's performance degradation and reducing a packet transmission delay and packet loss.

  • Patent number: 9408614
Abstract: An olecranon fracture fixation system includes an intramedullary core that is dimensioned for insertion in an intramedullary canal of the bone, and a hollow shell that is dimensioned for insertion in the intramedullary canal. The shell includes fixation elements that extend outwardly away from a proximal end of the shell. A fastener is provided for attaching the shell to the core in the intramedullary canal. When the core and shell are inserted in the intramedullary canal, the fixation elements extend away from the fracture line of the bone, and when the core and shell are attached in the intramedullary canal, the fixation elements engage an end surface of the end section of the bone. In one example version of the invention, the system is an olecranon fracture fixation system wherein the fixation elements are dimensioned to engage the triceps tendon and an end surface of the olecranon when the core and shell are attached in the intramedullary canal of the proximal ulna.
