  • Patent number: 4357865
Abstract: Apparatus for recovering oil, especially edible oils, from oil-containing fruit and seed in which immediately upon cleaning the fruit and seed, this oil-bearing material is subjected to cold pressing without prior heat treatment to recover a portion of the oil and the residue is thereupon extracted. The apparatus comprises a worm press formed with a perforated cylinder and a worm rotatable in said cylinder, said worm and said cylinder are subdivided along their lengths into a plurality of sections by respective shear gaps and throttles. The depth of the helical groove between flights progressively decreases toward the shear gaps and, in general, along the worm. The thread depth can range between 2 and 12% of the outer diameter of the worm which is preferably constant over the entire length thereof. Each flight may have a progressively decreasing pitch angle toward the outlet side and can be between 7.5 and 15.

  • Patent number: 4355431
Abstract: A floatable bridge element for briding obstacles, especially bodies of water. Automatically latching coupling elements are provided along one longitudinal side and along both end faces in such a way that the bridge element can be widened with a further, identically or correspondingly embodied bridge element into a bridge, or with further bridge elements can be extended into a "single-track" or "dual-track" floating bridge. The bridge element includes a flat hollow compartment panel filled with foam and simultaneously serving as a roadway, and below which extends a buoyancy body likewise filled with foam and rigidly connected therewith. The buoyancy body, for reducing the impact pressure in flowing waters, is inclined or angled-off along the lower edge of that longitudinal side of the bridge element not provided with coupling elements.

  • Patent number: 4321976
Abstract: A machine stepper has a machine-supporting platform that normally stands on the floor by means of fixed support posts. A substantially rectangular frame is provided underneath this platform and can shift relative to it. This frame is constituted by a pair of generally parallel longitudinal members and a pair of generally parallel transverse members pivoted together at corners at each of which is provided a respective upright and vertically extensible leg. Two of the diagonally opposite legs pivot about respective longitudinally extending horizontal pivot axes and the other two legs pivot about respective transverse horizontal pivot axes. Cylinders are provided for horizontally shifting the frame relative to the platform so that when the legs have been extended to lift the posts of the platform off the ground these cylinders can step the platform horizontally and when the expansible legs are shortened it is set back down on the floor.

  • Patent number: 4313356
Abstract: A method of removing the front and rear segments of a rolled wire fed in winding packages subdivided into good stock and into scrap windings separated by cutting movements corresponding substantially to the transporting movement of the winding packages. The windings spirally or helically surround a guidepipe element. Several cutting wheels rotate in the region of the upper surface of the guide-pipe element. The cutting wheels, together with counter knives, which stand still during the cutting procedure, form a separating device. The peripheral speed of the cutting wheel and cutters corresponds at least substantially to the transporting speed of the winding packages.

  • Patent number: 4295938
Abstract: A coke-oven door assembly has a doorjamb having an outwardly facing annular doorjamb surface. A rigid door body has an annular outer edge aligned with and generally perpendicular to the doorjamb surface and is provided with an annular and hollow rigid frame juxtaposed with this edge and limitedly displaceable relative to the door body. An annular seal strip engages the door edge and bears inwardly on the doorjamb surface. A rail is movable inside the frame toward and away from the doorjamb surface and a plurality of elastically compressible biasing devices are engaged between the rail and the seal strip to urge the latter toward the doorjamb surface. A plurality of spacers extending from the doorjamb are engaged with this rail, normally via respective plungers, so that the biasing force effective on the seal strip remains the same even if the door body is distorted by the effects of heat.

  • Patent number: 4274888
Abstract: The invention herein disclosed is directed to novel magnetic cores, particularly magnetic tape-wound cores, and to a new, novel and less expensive method of manufacture. The alloys employed in the manufacture of these cores employ smaller quantities of expensive metals such as nickel and, accordingly, result in substantial savings. The cores are exceptionally useful because of their high available flux-density change and high pulse permeability. Generally, the alloys employed contain nickel contents of from about 49 to 56 percent by weight of the alloy, and the remainder is substantially iron and small quantities of additives. The magnetic core is heat treated in a hydrogen atmosphere for several hours, cooled to room temperature, then reheated above the Curie Point and then cooled in a transverse magnetic field. Alternatively, it is possible to cool to just above the Curie Point, and omit the room temperature cooling and subsequent reheating.

  • Patent number: 4250948
Abstract: A device for handling semi-continuously vertically cast rectangular strands, especially of aluminum and aluminum alloys. The strands are simultaneously adjacent to each other lowered by means of a downwardly movable casting table, brought into engagement with a supporting member, and by a pivoting movement of the dummy bars and of the supporting member which are operatively connected to the casting table are moved into an at least nearly horizontal positon with regard to the casting table. The above mentioned pivoting movement is coupled to the upward movement of the casting table. The strands are cast in such a way that one of their narrow sides is located opposite the supporting member. During the upward movement of the casting table, the supporting member with the strands one narrow side of which engages the supporting member are pivoted about a pivot axis which is eccentrically located with regard to the longitudinal plane of symmetry of the casting table.
