Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions comprising an aptamer and an amino acid ester or amide or an aptamer; a divalent metal cation; and a carboxylic acid, a phospholipid, a phosphatidyl choline, or a sphingomyelin. Methods of treating or preventing a condition in an animal comprising administering to the animal the pharmaceutical compositions.
Abstract: Methods, devices, kits and compositions for detecting the presence or absence of roundworm in a fecal sample are disclosed herein. The methods, devices, kits and compositions of the present invention may be used to confirm the presence or absence of roundworm in a fecal sample from a mammal that may also be infected with one or more of hookworm, whipworm, and heartworm. Confirmation of the presence or absence of roundworm in the mammal may be made, for example, for the purpose of selecting an optimal course of treating the mammal and/or for the purpose of determining whether the mammal has been rid of the infection after treatment has been initiated.

Abstract: A composition, device, kit and method for detecting the presence or absence of roundworm in a fecal sample. Abstract: A method to track stability and performance of diagnostic instrumentation, especially for veterinary automated hematology analyzers, applies a weighted moving averages algorithm to the diagnostic results of patient samples calculated by the analyzer. Control chart rules are used to set limits or ranges in order to determine if weighted averaged diagnostic results are within or outside of such limits or ranges. If the weighted average diagnostic results are outside of such control chart rule limits, then fuzzy logic and a gradient descent algorithm are applied to the weighted averaged diagnostic results.
Abstract: An anticoagulant-coated dipstick is selectively receivable by the central fill port of a rotor of a blood centrifuge. The dipstick includes an elongated, rod-like member having a first axial end and an opposite second axial end, and a cap affixed to the second axial end. At least a portion of a surface of the rod-like member is coated with an anticoagulant. The elongated rod-like member of the dipstick is dimensioned in length and diameter to be receivable through the central fill port of the rotor to contact a blood sample contained therein. The cap is circular in shape, with a diameter that is greater than that of the rotor fill port to entirely cover and seal the fill port to prevent leakage therethrough of a blood sample contained in the rotor, especially when the rotor is gently agitated or inverted.
Abstract: The present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions in the form of a gel for controlled- or sustained-release of an aptamer and to methods for treating or preventing a condition in an animal by administering to an animal in need thereof the pharmaceutical compositions.
Abstract: A spinnable rotor for a high speed centrifuge includes a housing which defines a chamber interiorly thereof for receiving a whole blood sample and for containing a predetermined amount of red blood cell absorbent gel. The housing includes an upper portion and a bottom portion, the upper portion having a port formed through the thickness thereof. The upper portion has at least a portion thereof formed from a light transmissible material. A light pipe is joined to the upper portion and light transmissively communicates with the light transmissive portion of the upper portion. The light pipe extends at least partially into the chamber and has an open, lower free end. When whole blood filling the rotor chamber contacts the lower free end of the light pipe, the red color of the blood is transmissively communicated to the upper portion of the rotor housing where it is viewable by the user of the centrifuge.
Abstract: Methods, devices, kits and compositions for detecting the presence or absence of whipworm in a fecal sample are disclosed herein. The methods, devices, kits and compositions of the present invention may be used to confirm the presence or absence of whipworm in a fecal sample from a mammal that may also be infected with one or more of hookworm, roundworm, and heartworm. Confirmation of the presence or absence of whipworm in the mammal may be made, for example, for the purpose of selecting an optimal course of treating the mammal and/or for the purpose of determining whether the mammal has been rid of the infection after treatment has been initiated.

Abstract: A method and device for determining a feline immunodeficiency virus infection or vaccination in an animal. The method includes contacting a biological sample from a felid with various FIV polypeptides and determining the binding of antibodies in the sample to the polypeptides. The determination of whether an animal is infected with FIV or has been vaccinated against FIV can be determined by measuring the animal's immune response to an FIV env polypeptide. A device for detecting FIV antibodies is provided.
Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions comprising (i) a dibasic amino acid ester or dibasic amino acid amide; (ii) a dicarboxylic acid; (iii) a pharmaceutically active compound or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; and (iv) a pharmaceutically acceptable organic solvent. The pharmaceutical compositions form a depot when administered to an animal by injection that releases the pharmaceutically active compound over time.
Abstract: The invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions that are a solution of a salt formed between a fluoroquinolone and a carboxylic acid, a cyclodextrin, and a pharmaceutically acceptable organic solvent and to methods of treating a condition in an animal by administering to an animal in need thereof the pharmaceutical composition of the invention.
Abstract: Methods, devices, kits and compositions for detecting the presence or absence of one or more helminthic coproantigens in a sample are disclosed herein. The methods, devices, kits and compositions of the present invention may be used to confirm the presence or absence of roundworm, whipworm and/or hookworm in a fecal sample from a mammal and may also be able to distinguish between one or more helminth infections. Confirmation of the presence or absence of roundworm, whipworm and/or hookworm in the mammal may be made, for example, for the purpose of selecting an optimal course of treating the mammal and/or for the purpose of determining whether the mammal has been rid of the infection after treatment has been initiated.

Abstract: An animal tracking system integrated with a computerized animal management system operated by a microprocessor that maintains an animal information database of a plurality of animals within the custody of an animal handing facility, veterinary, pet kennel, or other pet care facility, includes an animal label driver that selectively generates an animal identification band having information associated with a selected one of the animals printed by a printer on a first surface with an attacher such as an opposing adhesive surface for attaching to the band in association with the animal. A method for generating an animal identification band by an animal management system is disclosed.
