Abstract: Provided herein is a resonance-enabled drill, comprising a housing; one or more force generators chosen from one or more voice coil actuators, one or more eccentrics driven by one or more electric motors, or combinations thereof; one or more sonic heads coupled to the one or more force generators; a plurality of springs coupling the housing to the one or more sonic heads; and a drill rod disposed on its proximal end to the one or more sonic heads. Also provided is a gauge for a sonic drill configured to display information to an operator, for example indicating to the operator when the drill is on or near resonance. Further provided are methods for selecting a resonance frequency in a sonic drill.

Abstract: An acoustic resonance diagnostic method for detecting structural degradation is provided. The method includes steps as follows: Firstly, a training model is built using a deep neural network. At least two training acoustic signals are inputted to the training model to carry a training. A diagnostic model is built according to a result of the training using a CNN. A plurality of under-test sound wave signals are captured from an under-test section of an under-test structure. An AI is used to filter data invalid for detecting structural degradation from the under-test sound wave signals. A structural degradation state of the under-test section is determined according to a remaining portion of the under-test sound wave signals through the diagnostic model.

Abstract: This disclosure provides novel broadly neutralizing anti-HIV antibodies and antigen-binding fragments thereof. Abstract: A nonlinear optical crystal of barium cesium borate, a preparation method and use thereof are provided. The nonlinear optical crystal has a chemical formula of CsBa3B11O20 and a molecular weight of 983.84. The nonlinear optical crystal belongs to an orthorhombic crystal system; a space group of the nonlinear optical crystal is Cmc21; lattice parameters of the nonlinear optical crystal are a=19.011(7) ?, b=10.837(4) ?, c=8.578(3) ?, Z=4, V=1767.4(11) ?3; and a Mohs hardness of the nonlinear optical crystal is 4-5. The nonlinear optical crystal is grown by a flux method. The nonlinear optical crystal of the barium cesium borate obtained is used for a manufacture of non-linear optical devices. The nonlinear optical crystal has a large size of centimeter-scale at least and is prepared by fast, simple and low-cost operations. The nonlinear optical crystal prepared has a large size, a wide light transmission band and good mechanical properties.

Abstract: When lactate dehydrogenase gene and/or malate/lactate dehydrogenase gene is/are introduced into a Hydrogenophilus bacterium as well as one or more of the three lactic acid-utilizing enzyme genes on the genome of the Hydrogenophilus bacterium is/are disrupted, lactic acid-producing ability is remarkably increased. The inventors of the present invention have identified the three lactic acid-utilizing enzyme genes of the Hydrogenophilus bacterium. When lactate permease gene is further introduced into the recombinant, lactic acid-producing ability is further increased. The recombinant of the present invention effectively produces lactic acid using carbon dioxide as a sole carbon source, and therefore, it is able to efficiently produce the material of biodegradable plastics, while solving global warming caused by increased emissions of carbon dioxide.

Abstract: A construction system for mechanical metamaterials based on discrete assembly of a finite set of modular, mass-produced parts. A modular construction scheme enables a range of mechanical metamaterial properties to be achieved, including rigid, compliant, auxetic and chiral, all of which are assembled with a consistent process across part types, thereby expanding the functionality and accessibility of this approach. The incremental nature of discrete assembly enables mechanical metamaterials to be produced efficiently and at low cost, beyond the scale of the 3D printer. Additionally, a lattice structure constructed of two or more rigid, compliant, auxetic and chiral part types enable the creation of heterogenous macroscopic metamaterial structures.
