    Abstract: For the prevention of parasite infestation of animals, an isoxazoline can be administered by drinking water route. However the inventors have found that when the drinking water is sanitized, for instance by using hypochlorite, the isoxazoline becomes degraded. Surprisingly, the isoxazoline can be protected from degradation by the use of a vitamin E. A pharmaceutical composition can now be prepared containing a concentrated solution of the isoxazoline in a solvent and co-solvent, with vitamin E. The composition can be diluted in drinking water, even when sanitized, to prepare medicated drinking water for animals. This way an anti-parasitic treatment can be mass-administered, leading to a highly effective reduction of the parasite infestation of an animal, and its surroundings.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to the fields of veterinary parasitology and -vaccinology; more specifically the invention relates to a composition comprising live Eimeria oocysts and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The composition is characterised in that it comprises a TLR3 agonist. The composition can be used to prepare a vaccine for poultry against Coccidiosis. The vaccine can be applied for example as a coarse spray on day-old chicks. The TLR3 agonist in the vaccine allows for a reduction of the dose of Eimeria oocysts up to 4 fold, while obtaining the same level of protection against challenge as from a vaccine without the TLR3 agonist. Alternatively, when employing a conventional dose of Eimeria oocysts in the vaccine, the TLR3 agonist causes an earlier onset of immunity, resulting in a significant reduction of the intestinal lesion score upon challenge, already at 2 instead of at 3 weeks after vaccination.

    Abstract: The invention relates to particles suitable for oral administration of a composition to an animal. The particles comprise a substantially indigestible polymer matrix. In one embodiment, the matrix contains the composition and a lipid that is dissoluble in the animal. In another embodiment, the matrix is mixed with the composition and contained in a dissoluble coating. The lipid and coating can be ones which are preferentially dissoluble in one compartment of an animal than in another. For example, the particles can be made to preferentially release the composition in the intestines, rather than the stomach, of a mammal, a fish, or a crustacean. Examples of compounds which can be administered in such compositions include vitamins, fatty acids, oils, carotenoids, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, live or dormant probiotic bacteria, hormones, nucleic acids, and proteins.
