  • Patent number: 7504786
Abstract: A motor controller judges whether or not a duty cycle of a PWM control signal, which is used to open and close a switching element on a power supply line to a motor, is in a current detection permission region. When the duty cycle is in the current detection permission region, an impedance is determined in time series via a calculation based on a predetermined relationship between a current, a terminal voltage, a speed electromotive force, and an impedance of a coil constituting an armature winding, and the output of the motor is controlled so as to reduce the deviation between a current target value and a value corresponding to a detected current. When the duty cycle is not in the current detection permission region, the output of the motor is controlled so as to reduce the deviation between the current target value and a value corresponding to a current determined via a calculation based on the latest determined impedance.

  • Patent number: 7503421
Abstract: In an electric power steering apparatus, a steering torque is detected by a torque sensor, and a motor which generates steering assist power is controlled so that steering assist power is generated in accordance with basic assist torque which corresponds to the detected steering torque. The phase of the output signal of the torque sensor is caused to vary by a phase control element. The phase control characteristic of the phase control element is altered in accordance with the judgment results of a steering state judgment element as to whether the steering state is a return steering state or positive steering state, so that, in the frequency response characteristic of the output to input of the torque sensor, the gain at the higher frequency band where the frequency is greater than a set value is reduced in the return steering state in comparison to the positive steering state.

  • Publication number: 20090058060
Abstract: A steering shock absorbing apparatus for motor vehicle according to the invention comprises a first universal joint for interconnecting a first end of an intermediate shaft and a steering shaft, and a second universal joint for interconnecting a second end of the intermediate shaft and an input shaft of a steering gear. The intermediate shaft includes a hollow bellows portion having slant convexes and slant concaves alternating with each other. A line interconnecting the joint centers of the first and second universal joints is tilted to the center axis of the intermediate shaft at a predetermined angle.
