  • Publication number: 20080232732
Abstract: A step portion is formed at an outer peripheral surface of an axially-central portion of an outer ring, and is smaller in diameter than outer peripheral surfaces of axial opposite end portions of the outer ring. The step portion is continuously formed over an entire periphery of the outer ring, and has a predetermined width over the entire periphery. The outer peripheral surface and inner peripheral surface of the outer ring are pressed radially inwardly, and therefore are bulged radially inwardly into a step-like shape to form the step portion having an axis coinciding with a axis of the outer ring. A pedestal of a cylinder block and a cap member retain the outer peripheral surface of the step portion, thereby positioning the outer ring in the axial direction and also preventing a movement of the outer ring in the axial direction.

  • Publication number: 20080233851
Abstract: A grinding wheel having a convex grinding surface is attached to a wheel spindle that is contactlessly supported by a casing through a controlled type axial magnetic bearing and controlled type radial magnetic bearings and that is rotated by an electric motor. A groove of a workpiece is ground by causing relative displacement of the casing. After the axial positioning of the casing is performed, the casing is radially displaced. Then, the groove is ground. The stiffness value of the axial magnetic bearing 6 is set to be lower than a normal value before the casing is radially displaced. After it is detected that the grinding surface of the grinding wheel touches the entire groove of the workpiece and that the grinding of the entire surface of the workpiece is started, the stiffness value is set back to the normal value.

  • Publication number: 20080224559
Abstract: A permanent magnet included in a rotor of a brush-less motor is a radial anisotropic magnet in which multi-poles are magnetized in the circumferential direction and is skew magnetized along the axial direction in such a manner that a surface to one end part of an upper side from a central part in the axial direction and a surface to an end part of a lower side from the central part are axially shifted by a predetermined angle in the circumferential direction from each other. In accordance with this skew-magnetization, coggings including irregularly varying components generated in the rotor owing to the three-dimensional shapes of coil ends provided at opposite ends of a tooth 611a for fixing a winding have opposite phases to each other, so that the coggings are cancelled with each other. Accordingly, the coggings can be reduced or cancelled.
