  • Patent number: 7412989
Abstract: In a solenoid valve 10, an annular oil groove 66 is formed at a portion corresponding to a spring chamber 56 on the external surface of a sleeve 19, a drain passage 68 is formed to make an upper part of the annular oil groove 66 communicate with the outside of an insertion bore 61, and a throttle hole 67 is provided at a lower part of the annular oil groove 66 for making the annular oil groove 66 communicate with the spring chamber 56. Since the annular oil groove 66 communicates with the outside of the insertion bore 61 at its upper part through the drain passage 68, it can be realized to store the operating oil to the height of the upper part of the annular oil groove 66, so that the operating oil can be reserved in the spring chamber 56 which communicates with the annular oil groove through the throttle hole 67. Further, the operating oil is supplied from a feedback port 48 next to the spring chamber 56 through a clearance between the spool valve 19 and a valve hole 18.

  • Publication number: 20080191655
Abstract: An angle computing section determines an angle of a rotor, and an angular velocity computing section determines angular velocity of the rotor. A command current computing section determines, from a steering torque and vehicle velocity, command currents and taken along d-q axes. An open loop control section determines, from command currents and angular velocity, command voltages taken along the d-q axes in accordance with motor circuit equations. A d-q axis/three-phase conversion section converts the command voltages into command voltages of three phases. A ? computing section determines the number of armature winding flux linkages included in a motor circuit equation from a q-axis command voltage, the current value detected by a current sensor, and the angular velocity. Circuit resistance including armature winding resistance R included in the motor circuit equation may also be determined by means of the same configuration.

  • Publication number: 20080187264
Abstract: Crowing is applied to a side surface of an inner ring which abuts against a side surface of a drive shaft in a radial direction. With this construction, when the two side surfaces abut against each other by a pressing operation of a threadedly-engaged nut at the time of connecting the drive shaft and an inner shaft, a contact pressure distribution of abutting surfaces is made generally uniform, thereby suppressing the occurrence of an edge load. By thus preventing a contact pressure from increasing at part of the abutting surfaces, energy released by a stick-slip phenomenon is reduced, and a sound pressure level of an abnormal sound generated at this time is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20080185983
Abstract: A microcomputer (an electric current command value calculating section) carries out field weakening control in which a d-axis electric current command value Id* is set to a negative value in correspondence with rotation angular velocity ? of a motor. The microcomputer determines whether an anomaly has occurred in an EPS. If it is determined that an anomaly is in a power supply system (step 202: YES), the microcomputer determines whether the anomaly in the power supply system is failure of electric current flow in any phase (step 203). If it is determined that electric current flow has failed in a certain phase, the microcomputer prohibits the field weakening control and outputs a motor control signal instructing to use two other phases free from the failure of electric current flow as electric current flowing phases (two phase drive mode, step 204).

  • Publication number: 20080183354
Abstract: There is provided a steering apparatus to ease an uncomfortable feeling given to an operator when a steering wheel is connected to a steering mechanism, on a fail. The apparatus includes a unit that varies an angular ratio of a steering angle of front wheels with respect to an operational angle of a steering wheel. The apparatus also includes a connection unit such as a electromagnetic clutch for connecting the steering wheel to the steering mechanism in order to fix the angular ratio, on a fail such as a failure of a steering motor. The apparatus also includes a rotational body which relatively rotates with respect to the steering wheel by an angular deviation upon this connection. Accordingly, since a real neutral position of the steering mechanism coincides with a neutral position recognized by a pattern on the rotational body being seen, it eases the uncomfortable feeling onto the operator.

  • Patent number: 7406375
Abstract: When it is determined that the torque output from the electric motor abnormally fluctuates or the torque output from the electric motor varies between clockwise and counterclockwise turning operations of the driver's steering wheel, the steering assist control is continued if the vehicle speed v is equal to or lower than the reference speed v0. In this case, the width of the dead band of the steering torque in the assist map used to calculate the target assist torque is increased. Thus, only in a case where the vehicle is moving at a low speed and the driver's steering wheel is operated with a great force, the steering assist torque is produced to alleviate the burden on the driver. In the other cases, the electric motor is stopped to minimize a sense of discomfort in the steering operation.
