Abstract: Energy consumption of cellular interfaces on multihomed mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets and laptops can be improved by adjusting the inactivity timer of the cellular interface of the mobile devices based on the on/off status of non-cellular interface(s) on the mobile devices. Possible near-future data packets can be transmitted or received on the non-cellular interfaces that co-exist on the mobile devices and thus the inactivity timer of the cellular interface may be dynamically and more efficiently adjusted, based on the on/off status of non-cellular interface(s). If the non-cellular interface is available on the mobile device, then the inactivity timer can be set to be shorter than if only the cellular interface is available.

Abstract: A voice coding rate is selected for a voice call involving a user equipment (UE) device based on an air interface efficiency of the base station serving the UE device. The air interface efficiency of the base station is determined based on at least one of (i) a beamforming capability of the base station, (ii) a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) capability of the base station, or (iii) an antenna configuration of the base station. The voice coding rate could be selected by either the UE device or by the base station. The UE device transmits to the base station during the voice call one or more voice frames that convey voice data coded at the selected voice coding rate. During the voice call, a new air interface efficiency may be determined, and a new voice coding rate may be selected based on the new air interface efficiency.
Abstract: An interlock system is provided that limits the ability of a user or seismic event to dislodge or partially remove more than one chassis from a rack at any one time. Thus, embodiments reduce the potential for the rack to be toppled by the weight of too many chassis extending from the rack at the same time. The interlock system includes a dynamic rail with locking blocks that move to engage hooks on the rear of the chassis. A trigger at each chassis slot is depressed with installation of a chassis. Upon the removal of any chassis, the associated trigger extends and causes the dynamic rail to be pulled down into a locking position in which the locking blocks engage the hooks on the remaining chassis, which prevents their removal.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a brown-out protection circuit includes: a monitoring terminal; a threshold generator supplying a threshold voltage; a comparator to compare a monitoring voltage at the monitoring terminal and the threshold voltage; and a logic module supplying an enable signal having a brown-in logic value and a brown-out logic value. When the enable signal is at the brown-out logic value, the logic module checks transition conditions, relating to a number of usable transitions of the monitoring voltage from lower to greater than the threshold voltage, and time conditions, relating to permanence of the monitoring voltage above the threshold voltage after a usable transition or in an aggregated manner after a plurality of consecutive usable transitions. The logic module sets the enable signal to the brown-in logic value when the transition conditions or the time conditions are met.

Also included are means for locating the position of the boom tip comprising light emitters, placed on the boom tip, along with the vision subsystem arranged on the tanker, and processing means constructed to use the images obtained from the locating means to allow their positions and inclinations to be exactly determined with respect to a common coordinate system.
Abstract: Operational information in a storage system is collected regarding storage media storage tiers, devices, drives, tracks on drives, and logical storage layers, to determine an estimated amount of time it will take to write data from cache to the intended drive when a new write operation arrives at the storage system. This information is then used to decide which type of cache is most optimal to store the data for the write operation, based on the estimated amount of time it will take to write data out from the cache. By allocating cache slots from a faster cache to write operations that are expected to quickly be written out to memory, and allocating cache slots from the slower cache to write operations that are expected to take more time to be written out to memory, it is possible to increase the availability of the cache slots in the faster cache.
Abstract: A method for securing data in a data cluster is performed by a data manager of a data cluster. The method includes receiving, by a data cluster, a write request for a user to write data to the data cluster, wherein the write request comprises an object identifier (OID) associated with data and a user identifier (UID) associated with the user; sending, to a key manager, an intermediate key request, wherein the intermediate key request comprises the UID; receiving, by the data cluster from the key manager, an intermediate key; processing the data to obtain a plurality of chunks and metadata associated with the plurality of chunks; generating an encryption key using the intermediate key and the OID; encrypting the metadata using the encryption key to generate encrypted metadata; deleting, after generating the encrypted metadata, the encryption key; and storing the encrypted metadata and the plurality of chunks in the data cluster.

Abstract: According to examples, an apparatus may include a processor and a memory on which are stored machine-readable instructions that when executed by the processor, may cause the processor to identify an orientation of a surface of a three-dimensional (3D) model. The instructions may also cause the processor to, based on the identified orientation of the surface, determine an agent formulation to be employed in fabricating a section of a 3D printed part corresponding to the surface, in which each of a plurality of different orientations of surfaces of the 3D model corresponds to a respective different agent formulation.

Abstract: An anchor for self-climbing structure of the type used on vertical or near-vertical concrete surfaces that uses metal inserts in the precast concrete tower and interlocking spikes in the self-climbing structure that are provided with rotary and rocking movement is disclosed. The anchor affords the main advantage of minimising tensile and shear loads on the concrete of the tower with maximum contact and optimum load distribution, while also achieving self-correction of possible coupling positioning and alignment errors. All of this results in improved delivery and distribution of the loads from the climbing device to the concrete wall and general structure that allows larger sized loads to be lifted and withstood than existing devices.

Abstract: A portable information handling system housing rotationally couples housing portions with a dual axis synchronized gear to rotate about parallel spaced axes that define a radius to support folding of a flexible display. Each axis of the synchronized gear couples to a housing portion with a sliding bracket that adjusts length during rotation. Plural pivot arms couple to a main body of the hinge at the first and second axes and to the housing portions to manage spacing of the housing portions during rotation. A sliding member coupled to the main body engages with the plural pivot arms to synchronize rotation of the plural pivot arms and regulate torsional forces related to rotation of the housing portions that can damage a display film folding at the hinge.
Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for performing clamping force adjustment on a virtual reality (VR) headset. User preferences as to clamping force at one or more positions, such as rest position on top of the user's head and VR mode position on user's face, are determined. The preferences are stored in a user profile. When a user places the VR headset, clamping force at a position is measures and clamping force is adjusted at that position.
