Abstract: Intelligent wireless dispatch systems are provided. In one embodiment, the system includes a dispatch computer and mobile data terminals positioned on a vehicle and in wireless communication with the dispatch computer. The system displays a plurality of drivers arranged in a driver stack, receives exception information from each mobile data terminal, displays a formatted driver icon corresponding to each driver in the driver stack, and sorts the drivers in the driver stack by prioritized exception information. The system is configured to display a driver assignment list for each driver including one or more assignments and to wirelessly transmit an assignment message to the mobile data terminals according to an update to a driver assignment list. The mobile data terminals are configured to display the assignment message for acceptance or rejection. Additional embodiments may also include voice-over-IP capability for two-way communication between the dispatcher and driver.

Abstract: In a device (10) for modulating Cartesian base band signals (I, Q) a first and second mapping unit (12, 14) each map signal samples of a corresponding Cartesian signal (I, Q) to intermediary signal sections having only two non-zero levels provided symmetrically around zero for forming two intermediary signals (S1, S2). A first and second processing unit (16, 18) each map each intermediary sections of an intermediary signal (S1, S2) to segments of a corresponding pulse train (S3, S4) through providing a positive pulse in one half of a segment if the corresponding signal section has a positive signal level and a positive pulse in another half of the segment if the corresponding signal section has a negative signal level. A delay unit (20) delays the pulses of one train in relation to the other and a combining unit (22) combines the trains for provision to a power amplifier (24).

Abstract: A method of controlling the allocation of transmission resources to wireless terminals within a radio access network, which resources are required for the provision of an IP Multimedia service to the terminals. The method comprises, in the event of a requirement to change the allocation of transmission resources to a given wireless terminal, sending a resource allocation request from a control node of the IP Multimedia Subsystem to the radio access network, the request causing a resource control node of the radio access network to change the allocation of access network resources to the wireless terminal.

Abstract: To perform an electromagnetic (EM) surveying of a subterranean structure, a signal generator produces a signal having an analog continuous waveform without steps in the waveform. Producing the signal is in response to an indication specifying a characteristic of the signal. An antenna is responsive to the signal having the analog continuous waveform to emit an EM field to produce the EM surveying of the subterranean structure.

Abstract: Process for controlling the energy performance of an industrial unit, in which process: the value of a set (V) of variables relating to the industrial unit and to the environment are measured, as is the value of a quantity representing the energy performance (W), an estimate (We) of the quantity representing the energy performance is calculated, the value of an energy performance indicator (TE, TE+) is determined and the value of this indicator is compared with at least one threshold value (S) determined so as to detect a drift in the energy performance. The invention proposes the learning of a model based on the best energy performance (W) observed for each value of a set (V) of input variables and in the proposing in real time to the operator of a best configuration and of best settings (CR) of the equipment based on those associated with this best energy performance (W) observed in the past for the current value of the set (V) of input variables.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method in a first communication device of receiving control information over a radio channel from a second communication device. The first communication device receives a subframe over the radio channel, and determines whether the subframe is a downlink subframe with downlink assignment intended for the first communication device by reading data in the subframe. That being the case, the first communication device decodes data within the subframe, and determines whether any data packet being sent from the second communication device before the subframe has been missed by analyzing an indicator associated to the subframe in the data. The indicator provides knowledge about previous downlink subframes with downlink assignment intended for the first communication device.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a composite amplifier and a method for controlling the amplitude of a composite amplifier in a node of a wireless communication system. The composite amplifier comprises a first amplifier and a second amplifier that are arranged to be connected via an output combiner network to a load. The method comprises decomposing an input signal into a first signal component and a second signal component. Further, the method comprises differentiating the amplitude on the first signal component from the amplitude on the second signal component. the differentiation is made such that the aggregated efficiency of the composite amplifier is increased. The present invention also concerns a radio transmission device comprising a composite amplifier.
Abstract: A first transceiver is operated in a first frequency band in the presence of a second transceiver operating in a second frequency band. Operation includes ascertaining an interference level at the first transceiver due to the second transceiver. A coexistence strategy for the second transceiver is dynamically selected by selecting a frequency division strategy if the ascertained interference level is less than a threshold level and selecting a time division strategy if the ascertained interference level is above the threshold level. The second transceiver is then caused to operate in accordance with the dynamically selected coexistence strategy.
Abstract: A drive unit to control the peak pressure of air for the inflation of a left ventricular assist system is disclosed. The control of the peak pressure can address the problem of the “kick” experienced by patients when the peak inflation pressure reaches approximately 200 mm Hg. The peak pressure of the air released for the inflation cycle of the system is reduced either by the reduction of the inner diameter of the interconnect line running from the compression tank to the valve manifold or the use of a multi-valve manifold with independently controlled valves and an electronic controller to selectively open and close the valves of the manifold. Either technique, whether used alone or in combination, reduces the peak pressure of the air released for the inflation cycle to below the levels associated with the “kick,” while still meeting the operating specifications to properly inflate and deflate the system's blood pump.
