Abstract: A multi-axis imaging system comprising an imaging gantry with an imaging axis extending through a bore of the imaging gantry, a support column that supports the imaging gantry on one side of the gantry in a cantilevered manner, and a base that supports the imaging gantry and the support column. The imaging system including a first drive mechanism that translates the gantry in a vertical direction relative to the support column and the base, a second drive mechanism that rotates the gantry with respect to the support column between a first orientation where the imaging axis of the imaging gantry extends in a vertical direction parallel to the support column and a second orientation where the imaging axis of the gantry extends in a horizontal direction parallel with the base, and a third drive mechanism that translates the support column and the gantry in a horizontal direction along the base.

Abstract: A privacy display comprises a polarised output spatial light modulator, reflective polariser, plural polar control retarders and a polariser. In a privacy mode of operation, on-axis light from the spatial light modulator is directed without loss, whereas off-axis light has reduced luminance. Further, display reflectivity is reduced for on-axis reflections of ambient light, while reflectivity is increased for off-axis light. The visibility of the display to off-axis snoopers is reduced by means of luminance reduction and increased frontal reflectivity to ambient light. In a public mode of operation, the liquid crystal retardance is adjusted so that off-axis luminance and reflectivity are unmodified.

Abstract: Apparatuses and techniques are provided for programming memory cells while reducing widening of a threshold voltage distribution due to changes in the temperature between the time of programming and the time of a subsequent read operation. One technique is based on a correlation between program speed and temperature coefficient (Tco). A different verify test is used for different memory cells which have a common assigned data state according to the program loop number and the temperature. Another technique is based on sensing the memory cells to measure their subthreshold slope and classifying the memory cells into groups. The sensing can occur as a separate operation before programming or as part of the programming of user data. The subsequent programming of the memory cells involves adjusting the verify test of each memory cell based on its group and the temperature.

Abstract: This disclosure covers systems and methods that administer a digital survey to respondents who interact with a biometric sensor to collect and convert biometric data into behavioral and physical characteristics of the respondents. In certain embodiments, by converting biometric data into respondent characteristics, the disclosed systems and methods identify various unwritten or nonverbal responses of survey respondents who respond to a digital survey or who interact with a display medium that captures survey data. Abstract: Methods of encoding and decoding video in a low-fidelity mode are described. A coding unit level low-fidelity flag is present in the bitstream to signal whether low-fidelity mode is enabled for a particular coding unit or not. If enabled, then, for that coding unit, the chroma quantization parameter is determined using the luma quantization parameter adjusted by a low-fidelity-mode offset. If not enabled, then, for that coding unit, the chroma quantization parameter is determined using the luma quantization parameter without adjustment by the low-fidelity-mode offset. The chroma quantization parameter is then used in the scaling of quantized chroma transform domain coefficients. Use with luma or other video components is also proposed.
Abstract: A system reduces power consumption by optimizing a selection of acoustic sensors of a sensor array based on environmental parameters of a local area. The system includes the sensor array including the acoustic sensors configured to detect sound in a local area, and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to: determine an environmental parameter of the local area; determine a performance metric for the sensor array; determine a selection of a subset of acoustic sensors from the acoustic sensors of the sensor array that satisfies the performance metric based on the environmental parameter of the local area; and process audio data from the subset of the acoustic sensors of the sensor array.
Abstract: A docking station for supporting an electronic device includes a body having a cradle portion. A latching mechanism is coupled with the body and movable between a first position configured to permit insertion of the electronic device into the docking station, and a second position configured to secure the electronic device in the docking station. The latching mechanism includes an activation portion configured to contact a first surface of the electronic device and to automatically move, via the contact during insertion of the electronic device into the docking station, from an activation portion first position extending from the body, to an activation portion second position. The latching mechanism further includes a latch portion configured to engage a second surface of the electronic device when the latching mechanism is in the second position. The latch portion is movable in response to movement of the activation portion.
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for controlling invertebrate pest infestations, particularly in plants; compositions and insecticidal polynucleotides useful in such methods; and plants having improved resistance to the invertebrate pests. A core includes a stator coil, forward and reverse coils, a railed shaft, and a transfer shaft. The stator coil generates a first EM field, and the forward and reverse coils generate second and third EM fields which interact with the first EM field to accelerate the armature in forward and reverse directions, respectively. The railed shaft is elongated along a central axis through the armature and includes multiple rails arranged helically around a central shaft. The armature remains in contact with the rails during acceleration so as to impart a turning motion. The transfer shaft is physically coupled with and projects forwardly from the armature and transfers to the projectile the acceleration and the turning motion of the armature in the forward direction.

In one technique, resource split data is received that indicates a split of a total resource amount that is associated with a content delivery campaign. In response, based on the split, a first resource amount and a second resource amount is determined, each a subset of the total resource amount. The first resource amount is associated with a first utilization strategy and a first mapping function and the second resource amount is associated with a second utilization strategy and a second mapping function. In response to receiving a request from a client device, an entity of the client device is determined and associated with the first mapping function. A quality score of the entity is determined and, based on the first mapping function and the quality score, an adjustment factor is determined. A content item selection event is conducted based on the adjustment factor.
