Abstract: A system and associated methodology for controlling block duplicates when deduplicating data (Dedup Blocks) to a storage space. The system includes a persistent database of known duplicates stored in the storage space (KD Table), and a non-persistent database of possible duplicates stored in the storage space (PD Table). Computer logic executes programming instructions stored in memory that are configured to index the KD Table according to a value derived from bits of a Dedup Block's hash signature, to index the PD Table according to another value derived by other bits of the Dedup Block's hash signature, to demote known duplicates from the KD Table to the PD Table, and to promote possible duplicates from the PD Table to the KD Table.

Abstract: A light-emitting disclosure (LED) and an LED array are disclosed. The LED includes a semiconductor junction for emitting light and an optical surface coupled to the semiconductor junction for outputting at least a portion of the light. The optical surface can include a grating structure configured to increase the portion of the light outputted by the optical surface, and/or a redirecting structure configured to redirect the portion of the light to form an output optical beam.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a rail vehicle having a track stabilization unit for use in stabilizing rails into ballast. The rail vehicle comprises a frame and a track stabilization unit coupled to the frame. The track stabilization unit includes a base and a plurality of wheels disposed about the base. The wheels are configured to bias against rails of a railroad track. At least one of the wheels is coupled to a motor through a drive shaft such that rotation of the drive shaft drives rotation of the wheel. Related methods are described.

Abstract: A computing device receives a response comprising one or more data sets corresponding to an identifier. The computing device identifies a first data set identifier in the response that signals the beginning of a first data set and edits the first data set to comprise a first keyboard stroke entry prefix understood by a second computing device as defining the first data set as a first particular type of data and a keyboard stroke entry suffix understood by the second computing device as defining an end of the first data set. The computing device identifies and edits a second data set. The edited first and second data sets are transmitted to the second computing device, where it processes the data sets based on the keyboard stroke entry prefixes and recognizes the end of the data sets based on the keyboard stroke entry suffix.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to LED based lighting systems, such as surface mounted lighting systems and lighting systems that can connected to an existing grid structure. These lighting systems can be utilized in many settings, for example, as primary lighting systems for a commercial building and for retrofit lighting improvement purposes. Devices according to the present disclosure provide lighting systems capable of mounting to an existing surface, such as a T-bar ceiling structure. These devices can further comprise modular elements which facilitate connections of multiple lighting body components, allowing for multiple lighting arrangements and providing a cost effective and easily configurable lighting design. In some embodiments, multiple lighting components can be attached together by movable joints, allowing further user control over light distribution from the lighting systems.

Abstract: A molded component assembly includes a printed circuit board with a first face and an oppositely facing second face. Multiple light emitting diodes are mounted on a first portion of the first face. Multiple electronics components are mounted on a second portion of the first face. A light guide of a light translucent polymeric material has a contact surface directly contacting the first portion of the first face and multiple light outlets defining cavities in the light guide. The light guide is seated over the light emitting diodes and directly receives visible light from the light emitting diodes and transmits the visible light to the light outlets. A reflector plate directly contacts the light guide and extends over the second portion including the electronics components, and includes filler members extending into the light guide. The reflector plate reflects visible light back into the light guide.

Contents in which a contents ID applicable to the generation of viewing information and viewing information-compatible data such as viewing information destination information or the like are recorded in an electronic watermark (WaterMark) or a sound data file are sent from a transmitting apparatus to a receiving apparatus. The receiving apparatus acquires the contents ID and the viewing information destination information, etc. from the electronic watermark (WM) or the sound data file, generates viewing information using the acquired data, and sends the generated viewing information to a designated address.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to storing energy in a form that is carbon neutral, storable and transportable, so that it can be used on demand. The present invention provides a process and system for using energy as available to produce carbon from carbon oxide, and then oxidizing the carbon to generate useful energy on demand, while effectively recycling the carbon, oxidant, and carbon oxide used in the process or system. In one embodiment, the present invention effectively stores renewable energy as carbon, transports the carbon, oxidizes the carbon to generate useful energy on demand and recycles the carbon as carbon dioxide. This invention may increase the utilization of renewable energy, especially for electrical power generation, while producing no net carbon dioxide or other air pollutants.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to notify an author that suggested content is available. An author-assistance tool is instantiated with a document processor to perform research to suggest content for a document being edited at the document processor. A user interaction relating to a document is received via the document processor, and the author-assistance tool generates suggested content for the document when the author has intent for content suggestion or the document has a document type that is on a list of document types for which a content suggestion should be made. The author-assistance tool then determines that the suggested content meets a pre-determined quality threshold, and generates, via the user interface of the document processor, a notification to the author that the suggested content is available.

Abstract: A system represents data as visual distributed data frames (VDDFs) that comprise a dataset, metadata describing the data, and metadata describing visualization of the dataset. A VDDF may be extracted from charts displayed in markup language documents. A VDDF may be generated from different data sources including big data analysis systems. A VDDF workspace allows interaction with multiple VDDF objects extracted from multiple data sources and stored locally within the storage of the device. The VDDF workspace allows the user to interact with the VDDF objects, for example, by inspecting the metadata, modifying the data, adding new columns, changing the visualization, joining data from multiple charts, and sharing the VDDF objects with other documents. The processing of data of a VDDF is performed locally within a computing device, for example, in a client device.

Abstract: The various embodiments described herein include methods, devices, and systems for repurposing IR transmitters. In one aspect, a method is performed at a first electronic device with a camera, one or more IR transmitters, one or more processors, and memory coupled to the one or more processors. The method includes operating the first electronic device in a first mode, the first mode including illuminating an environment proximate the first electronic device via at least one of the one or more IR transmitters to generate an image, via the camera, of at least a portion of the environment. The method further includes operating the first electronic device in a second mode, the second mode including communicating information to a second electronic device via at least one of the one or more IR transmitters.

Abstract: Examples provide customized augmented reality item filtering. An item filter analyzes item data using selection criteria and user preferences to identify high-interest item(s) and/or low-interest item(s) within a field of view (FOV) of a user device associated with a user. A high-interest item can include an item physically present within a portion of an item selection area or an un-stocked item not physically present within the portion of the item selection area. An augmented reality (AR) generator creates an AR image including a real-world image of the portion of the item selection area overlaid with graphical elements, including positive item indicators associated with high-interest items, negative item indicators associated with low-interest items, and/or un-stocked virtual items. The AR image is updated in real-time in response to user input, promotional data associated with one or more filtered item(s), and/or changes associated with the items within the FOV of the user device.

Abstract: An ear-plug assembly is implemented as part of an audio system to present a user with improved audio content. The audio system uses an acoustic conduction system to provide audio content to the user using tissue (e.g., bone and/or cartilage) born acoustic pressure waves. The ear-plug assembly mitigates leakage of low frequency components of airborne acoustic waves generated within the ear canal from the ear. The acoustic conduction system adjusts how content is presented based in part on the presence of the ear-plug assembly within the ear. In some embodiments, the ear-plug assembly may include one or more microphones (external and/or internal), and the acoustic conduction system adjusts how content is presented based on the signals detected by the one or more microphones.

Abstract: A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium may be executable by a processor to receive a designation of a message bus producer, a set of business logic to be stored in a set of containers, a designation of a message bus consumer, and a designation of a set of message-handling functions. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium may generate a serverless application stack, based upon the message bus producer, the set of business logic, the message bus consumer, and the set of message-handling functions. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium may cause the serverless application stack to receive a message stream from the message bus producer as streaming data, process the message stream according to at least one function, stored in the set of containers, perform at least one message-handling function of the set of message-handling functions on the message stream, and transport the set of messages to the message bus consumer.
