Abstract: Presented are thermal management systems using coolant flow distribution plates for immersion cooling of battery cells, methods for making/using such systems, and vehicles equipped with such systems for cooling the vehicles' battery packs. A battery assembly includes multiple battery cells arranged in adjacent, mutually parallel cell rows. The battery cells are stored inside a protective battery housing that includes inlet and outlet fluid ports for receiving and evacuating therethrough dielectric coolant fluid. A pair of (first and second) separator plates is located between each neighboring pair of cell rows. Each plate includes coolant channels that are arranged in mutually parallel channel bands. The separator plates are in face-to-face contact with each other such that each channel band of the first separator plate is aligned with a respective channel band of the second plate so the coolant channels cooperatively distribute coolant fluid onto and vertically upward between the battery cells.

Abstract: An apparatus for use in placing an implant into a patient is disclosed. The apparatus features an outer assembly having an outer shaft with an expandable driving member at its distal end and an inner cannulated shaft that fits within and cooperates with the outer shaft to affect the driving member. The inner shaft includes an actuation knob attached to the proximal end of the inner shaft. A locking or driving thread is included on the outer surface of the inner shaft, proximal to the adjustment knob. The outer shaft includes a housing with the threaded interior such that when the inner shaft is mounted within the outer shaft, the driving thread operates with the threaded interior of the housing to allow for the inner shaft to be advanced along the inside of the outer shaft as the knob is turned. Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for ingesting task-related data and providing task recommendations or generating tasks based on the ingested data. In certain embodiments, task-related data is obtained by a task facilitation service from third-party applications using a suitable interface, such as an application program interface (API), and the third-party applications may include plug-ins or extensions that facilitate communication between the applications and the task facilitation service. For example, task facilitation service may be configured to obtain and process data from websites and generate task recommendations based on the website data.
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to controlling a vehicle having an autonomous driving mode. For instance, a current state of a traffic light may be determined. One of a plurality of yellow light durations may be selected based on the current state of the traffic light. When the traffic light will turn red may be predicted based on the selected one. The prediction may be used to control the vehicle in the autonomous driving mode.

Abstract: Orientations of a vehicle with an attached trailer can be specified for obtaining respective images of the trailer. Respective images of the trailer captured by a vehicle camera at the specified orientations can then be received. The images can be input to a machine learning program trained to output trailer size metrics. The vehicle can then be controlled according to the trailer size metrics output from the machine learning program.

Abstract: In various embodiments there is a method for camera localization within a scene. An image of a scene captured by the camera is input to a machine learning model, which has been trained for the particular scene to detect a plurality of 3D scene landmarks. The 3D scene landmarks are pre-specified in a pre-built map of the scene. The machine learning model outputs a plurality of predictions, each prediction comprising: either a 2D location in the image which is predicted to depict one of the 3D scene landmarks, or a 3D bearing vector, being a vector originating at the camera and pointing towards a predicted 3D location of one of the 3D scene landmarks. Using the predictions, an estimate of a position and orientation of the camera in the pre-built map of the scene is computed.

Abstract: A non-invasive thermal dispersion flow meter with chronometric monitor for fluid leak detection includes a heater, an ambient temperature sensor and a flow rate sensor which are configured to sense the temperature of a fluid in a conduit, and then monitor the flow of that fluid through the conduit. Based upon the ambient temperature sensor readings, the flow rate sensor and heater may be adjusted to optimize the operation of the system to detect leaks. Based on the sensor readings, the flow may be adjusted to prevent damage and leaks by relieving the system of excess pressure. Geographic location, occupancy sensors and occupant identifiers are used to control the system to facilitate operation and minimize leak damage when occupants are away.

Abstract: The subject invention provides microbe-based products, as well as their use to improve oil production and oil transmission and refining by, for example, remediating the disposable layers in oil tanks and other oil storage units. The subject invention can be used to remediate a sludge layer and/or other dissolved solid layers that form in oil storage tanks. Advantageously, the subject invention can decrease the cost of mechanical remediation of disposable layers, and aid in the recovery of more pure hydrocarbons from crude fluids.

Abstract: Machine classifiers in accordance with embodiments of the invention capture long-term temporal dependencies in the dialogue data better than the existing recurrent neural network-based architectures. Additionally, machine classifiers may model the joint distribution of the context and response as opposed to the conditional distribution of the response given the context as employed in sequence-to-sequence frameworks. Further, input data may be bidirectionally encoded using both forward and backward separators. The forward and backward representations of the input data may be used to train the machine classifiers using a single generative model and/or shared parameters between the encoder and decoder of the machine classifier. During inference, the backward model may be used to reevaluate previously generated output sequences and the forward model may be used to generate an output sequence based on the previously generated output sequences.

Abstract: In examples, a first Anycast advertisement is received from a first server identifying the first server as a primary address for a service. In addition, a second Anycast advertisement is received from the first server identifying the first server as a secondary address for the service. Further, a third Anycast advertisement is received from a second server identifying the second server as the secondary address for the service. A first community advertisement is also from the first server identifying the first server as a member of a first community. Thereafter, a first request is received from a client including the primary address, and the request is routed to the first server. When a second request from the client is received including the secondary address, based at least on the community advertisement, the first server is ignored, and the second request is routed to the second server.
Abstract: Methods and systems for automated construction of an anonymized facial recognition library are disclosed. A camera of a client device may capture a first plurality of images of faces of members of a panel of viewers of media content presented on a content presentation device collocated with the client device during viewing sessions. A first machine learning (ML) model may be applied to the first plurality to generate a second plurality of feature vectors, each associated with a different one of the images. One or more clusters of feature vectors of the second plurality may be computationally determined within a vector space of the feature vectors. A respective centroid feature vector may be determined for each respective cluster, and assigned a unique ID. A respective association between each cluster ID and a respective name ID may be determined based on panel-member information received at the client device.
