Abstract: Implementations of the subject matter described herein provide a solution for rate control based on reinforcement learning. In this solution, an encoding state of a video encoder is determined, the encoding state being associated with encoding of a first video unit by the video encoder. An encoding parameter associated with rate control in the video encoder is determining by a reinforcement learning model and based on the encoding state of the video encoder. A second video unit different from the first video unit is encoded based on the encoding parameter. In this way, it is possible to achieve a better quality of experience (QOE) for real time communication with computation overhead being reduced.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to providing information about a vehicle dispatched to pick up the user. In one example, a request for the vehicle to stop at a particular location is sent. In response, information identifying a current location of the vehicle is received. A map is generated. The map includes a first marker identifying the received location of the vehicle, a second marker identifying the particular location, and a shape defining an area around the second marker at which the vehicle may stop. The shape has an edge at least a minimum distance greater than zero from the second area. A route is displayed on the map between the first marker and the shape such that the route ends at the shape and does not reach the second marker. Progress of the vehicle towards the area along the route is displayed based on received updated location information for the vehicle.

Abstract: Large language models (LLMs) and visual-language models (VLMs) are able to provide robust results based on specified formatting and organization. Although LLMs and VLMs are designed to receive natural language input, users often lack the skill, knowledge, or patience to utilize LLMs and VLMs to their full potential. By leveraging screen understanding, AI prompts (or “pills”) may automatically be generated for artificial-intelligence (AI) assistance and query resolution in a VLM/LLM environment. Using an image encoder, a current screenshot is processed into an image embedding and compared to text embeddings representing screenshot activities. By identifying the text embedding having the closest similarity to the image embedding, a screen activity being performed by the user may be determined. Suggested AI prompts (or “pills”) may then be generated in real-time to assist the user in performing the screen activity.

Abstract: Free-space optical (FSO) wireless transmission, including optical communications, remote-sensing, power beaming, etc., can be enhanced by replacing conventional laser sources that operate in the infrared portion of the optical spectrum with ultra-short pulsed laser (USPL) sources having peak pulse powers of one kWatt or greater and pulse lengths of less than one picosecond. Specifically, it has been observed that under these conditions the attenuation of an USPL beam having the same average optical power as a conventional laser in a lossy medium, such as the atmosphere, is substantially less than the attenuation of a conventional laser beam having a lower peak pulse power and/or a longer pulse width. The superior system performance when using an USPL can be translated into an increased distance between a laser source in a transmitter and a photodetector in receiver and/or a higher reliability of system operation in inclement weather conditions.
