Abstract: A cyclonic de-sander for a fluid stream. The cyclonic de-sander includes a pressure vessel, with a fluid inlet configured to deliver the fluid stream into the interior volume of the pressure vessel. The fluid inlet delivers the fluid stream in an eccentric manner, thereby forming a cyclone within the interior volume. The de-sander also includes a vortex tube residing vertically within the pressure vessel. The vortex tube comprises an upper end in fluid communication with the upper end of the pressure vessel, and a lower end in fluid communication with the interior volume. Additionally, the cyclonic de-sander includes a funnel. The funnel resides within the interior volume below the fluid inlet and below the lower end of the vortex tube. The funnel comprises a frusto-conical body configured to gravitationally receive solid particles from the fluid stream and inhibit the travel of solid particles back up the pressure vessel.
Abstract: Alignment between closed caption and audio/video content may be improved by determining text associated with a portion of the audio or a portion of the video and comparing the determined text to a portion of closed caption text. Based on the comparison, a delay may be determined and the audio/video content may be buffered based on the determined delay.
Abstract: Innovations in syntax and semantics of coded picture buffer removal delay (“CPBRD”) values potentially simplify splicing operations. For example, a video encoder sets a CPBRD value for a current picture that indicates an increment value relative to a nominal coded picture buffer removal time of a preceding picture in decoding order, regardless of whether the preceding picture has a buffering period SEI message. The encoder can signal the CPBRD value according to a single-value approach in which a flag indicates how to interpret the CPBRD value, according to a two-value approach in which another CPBRD value (having a different interpretation) is also signaled, or according to a two-value approach that uses a flag and a delta value. A corresponding video decoder receives and parses the CPBRD value for the current picture. A splicing tool can perform simple concatenation operations to splice bitstreams using CPBRD value for the current picture.
Abstract: Data characterizing a fuel storage facility can be received from one or more of a plurality of sensors disposed in the fuel storage facility. A fuel leak prediction for the fuel storage facility can be determined by a server, based on the received data, and further based on at least one predictive model that predicts whether a fuel leak exists in the fuel storage facility. The fuel leak prediction can be provided by the server. Related apparatus, systems, methods, techniques, and articles are also described.

Abstract: A touch sensor device (TSD) includes a panel that includes electrodes and drive-sense circuits (DSCs). Different electrodes may be implemented in different directions. A first DSC is operably coupled via a first single line to a first electrode, and a second DSC is operably coupled via a second single line to the panel. The DSCs operate by providing respective signals via the respective single lines and simultaneously sensing the signals. For example, sensing of a first signal of a first DSC includes detection of a first electrical characteristic of the first electrode and/or a first change of the first signal. Sensing of a second signal of the second DSC includes detection of coupling of another signal into the panel in accordance with digital data communication from another device to the TSD. The DSCs also generate respective digital signals based upon what they sense.
Abstract: A method to access a device may include obtaining, at a first device, data over a short-range wireless network from a second device. The data may originate at a remote system that sends the data to the second device through a network connection over a wide area network. The method may also include in response to a fault at the second device, obtaining, at the first device from the remote system, a maintenance command for the second device. The maintenance command may be obtained by the first device over an analog voice network. The method may also include directing, from the first device to the second device, the maintenance command over the short-range wireless network to enable the second device to perform the maintenance command.

Abstract: A satellite Automatic Identification System (AIS) is for tracking a plurality of maritime vessels. The AIS may include a ground AIS server and a constellation of Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites in communication with the ground AIS server. Each LEO satellite may include an AIS payload configured to receive AIS messages from the plurality of maritime vessels and determine therefrom reported vessel position data, determine actual signal arrival measurements for the AIS messages, and determine a potential spoofing maritime vessel based upon the reported vessel position data and actual signal arrival measurements and send a potential spoof alert to the ground AIS server. The ground AIS server may be configured to perform time sequenced pairwise differential calculations of the actual signal arrival measurements from at least one of the AIS payloads and for the potential spoofing maritime vessel to estimate a position of the potential spoofing maritime vessel.

Abstract: A vehicle assembly includes a mid-gate assembly disposed between a passenger compartment and a cargo bed of a vehicle. The mid-gate assembly has a pass-through opening and a hatch that is pivotably coupled to the mid-gate assembly at a position vertically above a floor of the cargo bed. Abstract: Reinforcing filaments or fibers, such as aromatic polyamide (aramid) fibers, can be reliably measured and consistently mixed into asphalt cement concrete by soaking the fibers in a wetting agent, then severing them to a desired length, and mixing the segments with other ACC ingredients. The wetting agent holds the fibers together loosely, so they can be distributed more uniformly throughout the ACC without clumping. The wetting agent soaks into the ACC mixture and/or evaporates, leaving the reinforcing fibers behind.

Abstract: A blood pressure monitoring device includes a wrist strap, a case, and a display. The strap portion is adapted to fasten the device to the wrist without occluding blood flow. At least one sensor modality is arranged within the case for obtaining sensor data from an artery in the wrist. In a preferred embodiment photoplethysmography sensors are incorporated in the case to generate PPG waveform data. A processor within the case is operable to compute mean arterial pressure, and optionally diastolic and systolic blood pressure based on extracted and computed features of the sensor data. Related methods and systems are also described.
