Abstract: An electronic device includes a display and one or more processors operable with the display and a calendaring application. The one or more processors detect a mismatch in starting or ending times occurring between a calendaring event notification and an agenda associated with the calendaring event notification, and present a prompt upon the display identifying the mismatch when the mismatch is detected. The prompt can include at least one remediating option for correcting the mismatch.

Abstract: A transmitter may include a digital signal processor (DSP) to generate an electrical signal associated with a beacon and a data signal. The transmitter may include an electro-optical component to convert the electrical signal to an optical signal to be transmitted by the transmitter. The beacon and the data signal may be on a common wavelength in the optical signal. A power of the beacon within the optical signal may be based on a value of an amplitude modulation factor applied to the beacon by the DSP in association with generating the electrical signal.

Abstract: An animation system includes an animated figure, multiple sensors, and an animation controller that includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor. The instructions cause the animation controller to receive guest detection data from the multiple sensors, receive shiny object detection data from the multiple sensors, determine an animation sequence of the animated figure based on the guest detection data and shiny object detection data, and transmit a control signal indicative of the animation sequence to cause the animated figure to execute the animation sequence. The guest detection data is indicative of a presence of a guest near the animated figure. The animation sequence is responsive to a shiny object detected on or near the guest based on the guest detection data and the shiny object detection data.

Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described that implement a smart-device-based radar system capable of detecting user gestures in the presence of saturation. In particular, a radar system employs machine learning to compensate for distortions resulting from saturation. This enables gesture recognition to be performed while the radar system's receiver is saturated. As such, the radar system can forgo integrating an automatic gain control circuit to prevent the receiver from becoming saturated. Furthermore, the radar system can operate with higher gains to increasing sensitivity without adding additional antennas. By using machine learning, the radar system's dynamic range increases, which enables the radar system to detect a variety of different types of gestures having small or large radar cross sections, and performed at various distances from the radar system.

Abstract: A latch mechanism for a pivoting bicycle rack provides a pivot release actuator on an extension that is added on to the bicycle rack. The latch mechanism comprises a connector body that is attached to the bicycle rack, and that may have an actuator for operating the pivot release. The rack extension assembly has an actuator and a linkage that connects to the connector body in the bicycle rack so that the actuator in the extension can release the pivot on the bicycle rack. The connector body may be shaped to guide the linkage during the process of attaching the extension assembly to the bicycle rack. The mechanism may be provided with a means for disconnecting the linkage from the connector body.

Abstract: Embodiments include an overlay multicast network. The overlay multicast network may provide a set of features to ensure reliable and timely arrival of multicast data. The embodiments include a congestion control system that may prioritize designated layers of data within a data stream over other layers of the same data stream. Each data stream transmitted over the network may be given an equal share of the bandwidth. Addressing in routing tables maintained by routers may utilize summarized addressing based on the difference in location of the router and destination address. Summarization levels may be adjusted to minimize travel distances for packets in the network. Data from high priority data stream layers may also be retransmitted upon request from a destination machine to ensure reliable delivery of data.

Abstract: A control system may include a direct-current (DC) power bus for charging (e.g., trickle charging) internal energy storage elements in control devices of the control system. For example, the control devices may be motorized window treatments configured to adjust a position of a covering material to control the amount of daylight entering a space. The system may include a DC power supply that may generate a DC voltage on the DC power bus. For example, the DC power bus may extend from the DC power supply around the perimeter of a floor of the building and may be connected to all of the motorized window treatments on the floor (e.g., in a daisy-chain configuration). Wiring the DC power bus in such a manner may dramatically reduce the installation labor and wiring costs of an installation, as well as decreasing the chance of a miswire.
