Patent number: 5185767Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and to an arrangement for regenerating timing pulses from an information-carrying pulse train of the NRZ-type. The method can be used in a telecommunication system to create a timing signal which is synchronous with the information-carrying pulse train, so as to enable the pulses of the generated timing signal to be used as clock pulses when reading information from the original pulse train. The information-carrying pulse train is differentiated and rectified in a known manner, wherein the rectified pulse train signal will contain solely positive or solely negative pulses originating from level shifts of the pulse train signal. A commutating filter is given a resonance frequency which corresponds to the frequency of the NRZ-signal, and the rectified pulse train signal is supplied to the commutating filter, which generates timing pulses during those periods in which no pulses occur in the rectified pulse train signal.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1990Date of Patent: February 9, 1993Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M EricssonInventors: Lars E. Patent number: 5184787Abstract: A winding machine for winding a traveling web of paper or the like. A carrying drum extends across the web. A first pair of primary levers supports the pins at the end of a cylinder on which the web is to be wound. The primary levers have one end with a fork for receiving a respective journal pin of the cylinder and another end that is mounted in the region of but eccentric to the axis of the carrying drum. The primary levers swing the cylinder over approximately 90.degree. around the carrying drum to a second position. A second pair of secondary swing levers pick up the cylinder at the second position and move it to a third position along a substantially horizontal second pathway. A first drive connected with one primary lever introduces a moment of rotation to the axis of the cylinder moving along the primary path. A sensor detects the radial position of the cylinder and a setting device adjusts the radial position of the first drive in order to align it with the cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1991Date of Patent: February 9, 1993Assignee: J. Patent number: 5183335Abstract: A hydraulic jet flash mixer in a system for treating waste water jets a secondary flow of water through a high-velocity nozzle towards a deflector assembly. In one embodiment, the deflector assembly is formed by a tip and a body, and the tip is spaced from, but spring biased toward, the body. The space between the tip and body acts as a nozzle for radially injecting a coagulant fed to the body by a pressurized supply line. In another embodiment, the deflector assembly is one piece, and the supply line is inside of and extends through the high-velocity nozzle such that coagulant is injected from a point between the nozzle and the deflector assembly.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1991Date of Patent: February 2, 1993Assignee: James M. Patent number: 5182031Abstract: The device comprises a closed chamber (1) equipped with an inlet pipe (3) for the aerated liquid, an outlet pipe (4) for the deaerated liquid, and an air evacuation pipe (5); and a rotor having a shaft extending into the chamber. The shaft carries means (7) for centrifugation of the liquid and means (8,9,10) for intensive agitation of the centrifuged liquid. The device works according to the following process: continuously, the liquid is introduced into the closed chamber and it is vigorously centrifuged there in with the aid of mechanical means (7) and simultaneously subjected to intensive agitation with the aid of second mechanical means (8,9,10).The released air gathers freely at the center of the chamber whence it is evacuated, as the deaereated liquid is evacuated through the outlet pipe.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1990Date of Patent: January 26, 1993Assignee: E & M Lamort (Societe Anonyme)Inventor: Jean-Pierre Lamort

Patent number: 5180993Abstract: In a fractional-N frequency synthesizer, the phase error signal is amplified with a factor N prior to adding or subtracting the correction value. This procedure is simpler than the procedure of multiplying the correction value by the factor 1/N. For instance, the phase error signal can be amplified in a separate means, such as an analogue multiplier or a multiplying digital-analogue converter. Amplification can also be effected in conjunction with forming the phase error signal, e.g., by amplifying currents in a so-called charging pump. Amplification of the phase error signal also affords the advantage that loop amplification, loop damping factor and loop band width are held constant. These parameters would otherwise be dependent on 1/N, as a result of varying the frequency. The foregoing technique may also be applied in conjunction with a further technique that allows the loop bandwidth of the frequency synthesizer to be varied.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1991Date of Patent: January 19, 1993Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M EricssonInventor: Paul W. Patent number: 5181204Abstract: An error flag setting arrangement for a multitasking environment requires all of a multiplicity of processes to use the same funtion to set an error flag indicator. Inside of this function, the flag indication is tested prior to setting to a new value. If the flag indication is already set, the function waits a predetermined period of time. In the event that the error indication is not reset within the predetermined period a message describing the current value of error indication is displayed on the screen and the error indication is set to the new value.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1990Date of Patent: January 19, 1993Assignee: Telefonaktienbolaget L M EricssonInventor: Alexander Kasman

Patent number: 5177880Abstract: A dryer section of a paper making machine is divided into several dryer groups, each comprising a plurality of dryer cylinders, a plurality of reversing rolls between neighboring cylinders and a respective web supporting belt wrapping around the cylinders of a dryer group. Within each dryer group, the web travels, in continuous contact with the supporting belt, alternately over the dryer cylinders and the reversing rolls so that the web comes into direct contact with the cylinders and the supporting belt comes into direct contact with the reversing rolls. The cylinders are arranged in several rows which are inclined to the vertical, alternately rearwardly and forwardly defining V-shaped double rows. The end of each row and the starting point of the following row are formed by two cylinders arranged horizontally alongside of each other. The rows of dryer cylinders succeed each other in the manner of a zig-zag line. Each inclined row comprises about three cylinders.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1991Date of Patent: January 12, 1993Assignee: J. M. Patent number: 5179007Abstract: The present invention provides an method for isolating and purifying recombinantly produced proteins. This invention involves the use of an expression vector which includes a nuclear targeting signal sequence which effectively directs newly synthesized proteins to the nucleus; a cleavage recognition sequence which cleaves specifically at a pre-determined cleavage site after addition of a viral enzyme; and a cDNA sequence which codes for a desired protein. Specifically the production and isolation of a desired protein is accomplished through the use of lepidopteran cells transfected or infected with recombinant baculovirus expression vector comprising a polyhedrin gene derived nuclear targeting signal sequence and a cleavage recognition sequence derived from a potyvirus polyprotein. The newly synthesized proteins are directed into the nucleus whereupon nuclear protein is extracted from the nucleus.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1989Date of Patent: January 12, 1993Assignee: The Texas A & M University SystemInventors: Donald L.
