  • Patent number: 5664353
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for optically representing information on a transparent projection surface using several projection modules and using through-light projection. The method and arrangement are both cost effective and ensures that an observer viewing even a large display of information is provided with a bright, contrast, homogeneous image. Each projection module is formed of a light source with a divergent beam radiating through a controllable light valve and a projection surface arranged behind it. The distance between the light valve and the projection surface is chosen in such a way that the image parts projected by adjacent modules border gaplessly to each other on the projection surface.

  • Patent number: 5665263
Abstract: An induction cooking heater includes at least one inductor, a high-frequency current generator and a magnetic circuit located beneath the inductor. The reluctance of the magnetic circuit is calibrated so that the magnetic circuit gets saturated from a predetermined temperature lower than the maximum permissible temperature for the inductor. A plate made of non-magnetic, electrically conductive material located beneath the magnetic circuit, gives rise to an increase in current in the inductor when the magnetic circuit starts getting saturated. The generator is then controlled by a regulator for limiting the value of the current in the inductor to deliver lower power to the inductor.

  • Patent number: 5665994
Abstract: A device integrated on a chip of a semiconductor material is disclosed which comprises an NPN bipolar transistor and an N-channel MOSFET transistor in an emitter switching configuration, both being vertical conduction types. The bipolar transistor has its base and emitter regions buried; the MOSFET transistor is formed with an N region bounded by the base and the emitter regions and isolated by a deep base contact and isolation region. To improve the device performance, especially at large currents, an N+ region is provided which extends from the front of the chip inwards of the isolated region and around the MOSFET transistor. In one embodiment of the invention, a MOSFET drive transistor is integrated which has its drain terminal in common with the collector of the bipolar transistor, its source terminal connected to the base of the bipolar transistor, and its gate electrode connected to the gate electrode of the MOSFET transistor in the emitter switching configuration.

  • Patent number: 5666348
Abstract: A method and system for controlling admission to a packet switched radio channel (PRCH) is provided. A PRCH admission control function evaluates admission requests for users requesting admission to a PRCH. The admission requests each contain a priority value and an estimated data traffic for the requesting user. If the estimated data traffic from one or more packet calls currently using the PRCH and having a priority equal to or higher than the priority of the requesting user, plus the estimated data traffic required by the requesting packet call are less than a maximum tolerable traffic level, the packet call is granted admission.

  • Patent number: 5662321
Abstract: The disclosed document feeder apparatus includes a document drive that comprises only a single line of feed rollers with a simple skew adjustment system. This drive is shown incorporated in a cassette-loaded automatic document feeder ("ADF") that is attachable to an existing independent engineering document copier in a non-intrusive manner. The cassette can be loaded, either when positioned in the ADF or at a location remote from the ADF, with a stack of large engineering documents of mixed media and varying sizes; and it is even possible for the cassette to carry a document several yards (meters) long. Documents are fed serially from the top of the stack through the ADF's document flow path by the document drive which is centered for alignment along a line positioned parallel to the document flow path.

  • Patent number: 5662250
Abstract: A device for forming bows from a ribbon which includes a base plate and a pair of uprights mounted on the base plate. One of the uprights is resiliently biased toward the other upright for grippingly engaging portions of the ribbon inserted therebetween to hold bow loops formed from the ribbon in place while forming the bow. A tie wire is placed between the uprights for securing the portions of the bow loops retained between the uprights before removing the assembled bow loops. The uprights have opposed narrow edges to effectively grip the ribbon positioned therebetween. In one embodiment of the invention, the uprights include spaced upright plates to receive the tie wire and a forming arm which moves the portions of the bow loops between the uprights toward the base plate.

  • Patent number: 5662087
Abstract: Fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine with direct fuel injection, with an electromagnetic control valve for pressurization of a medium-pressure space, and a hydraulic amplification plunger comprising a medium-pressure plunger adjacent to the medium-pressure space and a high-pressure plunger adjacent to a high-pressure space, which latter is connected to a fuel delivery line on the one side and a nozzle space surrounding the fuel needle on the other side, the high-pressure space connecting to a fuel bypass line in at least one intermediate position of the high-pressure plunger. To improve rate shaping, especially at the beginning and end of injection, the proposal is put forward that in addition to the high-pressure plunger a pressure-dependent bypass valve be located in the flow path between the high-pressure space and the fuel bypass line, which bypass valve opens the flow connection between high-pressure space and fuel bypass line for a narrow range of pressures in the high-pressure space.
