Abstract: A telephone device for accessing electronic services includes a housing having a front portion with a display device and a telephone keypad. The telephone device provides a graphical user interface whereby user selectable options are presented in a graphical format on the display device and a user is allowed to make selections therefrom with, for example, a point-and-click mechanism. A processor, preferably a single programmable digital signal processor, is responsive to the telephone keypad and the user selectable options and executes a variety of modem functions, telephone functions, and application programs. The programmable digital signal processor also supports the graphical user interface.

Abstract: A multi-configurable floodlight assembly may be configured to provide suitable lighting in a multitude of situations. The assembly includes a housing having top portion, side portion and bottom portion. The portions define a substantially hollow volume therebetween. Three threaded recesses are formed in the top portion of the housing, and at least one threaded recess is formed in the bottom portion. A plurality of knockouts are extend circumferentially around the side portion of the housing. Two light holders are provided each of which having a light socket for receiving a light bulb, a threaded base portion, and an universal joint disposed between the base portion and the light socket to provide for the movement of the light socket about the base portion. The threaded base portion is releasably insertable into any of the threaded recesses in the housing.
Abstract: A pacifier (1) having a nipple portion (3) projecting from a shield portion (2), and a handle portion (4). A chewing portion suitable for chewing is formed by at least one chewing zone (8; 28; 38) having the form of a bead (9; 29; 39) and provided in a rim portion (6, 7) of the shield portion (2; 22; 32) itself.
Abstract: A low calorie meat product comprising a mixture comprising comminuted lean meat and a vegetable fat replacement ingredient comprising dietary fiber and starch.
Abstract: A safe locking mechanism has an engagement element movable from a disengaged position to an engageable position in response to a small amount of electrical power. When in its engageable position a mechanical linkage assembly is driven by the engagement element to unlock a lock-bolt. The mechanical linkage assembly includes a low inertia pivoting cam which interacts with a lock lever of the locking mechanism to move it to an unlocking state. Electrical power is generated solely while the user manually inputs a combination code, and a microprocessor controls storage and delivery of this power to put the engagement element into its engageable position. Once the desired engagement is obtained, the lock-bolt is moved from its locking to its unlocking position manually. Subsequent unlocking requires another entry of the code input.

Abstract: An impingement distributor for a shell and tube heat exchanger and a method of recovering waste heat from a hot gas which minimizes adverse heat flux at the outermost banks of tubes for enhanced operational reliability. The impingement distributor has a cylindrical distribution plate having evenly arranged rows of longitudinal perforations and a plurality of impact bars longitudinally aligned with the perforations. The hot fluid impinges on the impact bars, and direct impingement on the tubes is avoided.

Abstract: In a process and device for monitoring a residual amount of hook thread in a double thread lockstitch sewing machine, a bobbin is used, which is divided into a large clamber and a small chamber due to the arrangement of a middle flange, wherein the small chamber accommodates the residual amount of thread. An abrupt reduction in the speed of rotation of the bobbin, n.sub.S, takes place dating sewing at the time of the transition from the principal to the residual amount of thread as a consequence of the abrupt change in the thread pull-off site in the bobbin.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and apparatus for separating gaseous components from pourable media. The main feature of the invention is that regions of under pressure are formed by relative movement between the media and a substantially vane-shaped external surface on a body arranged therein. The gas collecting in the under pressure regions is evacuated through the interior of the body. The body is preferably arranged to rotate, such that at least one inlet on the body at the under pressure region communicates with a gas outlet inside the body to remove the separated gas.
Abstract: A fuel injection assembly for a combustion chamber of a gas turbine engine is disclosed in which a plurality of premixing chambers are in communication with the combustion chamber and adjacent pairs of the premixing chambers are connected to a single prevapoization chamber by prevaporization conduits. Fuel is injected into the prevaporization chamber via a fuel injector and is mixed with oxidizer passing into the prevaporization chamber such that the fuel/oxidizer mixture has a richness exceeding the stoichiometric ratio. The fuel/oxidizer mixture passes into the prevaporization conduits through a diaphragm opening and, upon entering the premixing chamber, is mixed with additional oxidizer such that the fuel/oxidizer mixture in each premixing chamber has a richness less than the stoichiometric ratio.

Abstract: Tooling for applying an abrasive belt on a machine for abrasive belt machining of cylindrical bearing surfaces comprises, for each bearing surface to be machined, an arm and three abrasive belt application shoes a first of which is mounted in a top median position on the arm and the other two of which are mounted in a bottom lateral position on two jaws articulated to the arm and coupled together in such manner that they can be clamped together. The arm carries a first shoe having a concave abrasive belt application surface subtending an angle greater than 90.degree. and less than 180.degree. and a gauge with two opposed and horizontally aligned sensors and each jaw carries a second shoe having a concave abrasive belt application surface subtending an angle slightly less than 90.degree. whereby when clamped around the bearing surface to be machined the three shoes together envelope the bearing surface to be machined over an angle of at least 270.degree.
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing an immunogenic construct comprising activating at least one first carbohydrate-containing moiety with CDAP, and covalently joining the activated first moiety to a second moiety. Preferably, the first moiety is a polysaccharide and the second moiety is a protein. Immunogenic constructs are prepared by this process using either direct or indirect conjugation of the first and second moieties.

Abstract: The bar feeder comprises an oscillatable magazine in which bars are arran so as to form a substantially vertical plane. A bar pusher is arranged at the top of the magazine; in one angular position of the magazine, the bar pusher pushes the upper bar into the mandrel of the lathe. Another pusher is arranged to the side of the bar pusher and, in the other angular position of the magazine, it pushes the bars towards the machining tools of the lathe. The magazine comprises two walls defined by a series of rods and uprights which can be spaced according to the diameter of the bars.
