Patent number: 7457243Abstract: A method, apparatus and software program is provided for scheduling and admission controlling of real-time data packet traffic. Data packets are admitted or rejected for real-time processing according to throughput capabilities of a packet scheduler. A delivery deadline is determined for each payload data packet at the packet scheduler and packets are sorted into a time-stamp-based queue. Deadline violations are monitored and an adaptation of payload data packets can be triggered on demand in order to enter a stable state.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2004Date of Patent: November 25, 2008Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Jens Meggers, Andreas Fasbender

Patent number: 7457300Abstract: A method and system for mapping original Media Access Control (MAC) addresses to unique locally administered virtual MAC addresses in an Ethernet network. An access node uses an address mapping function to map each original MAC address to one of a plurality of locally administered virtual MAC addresses, and vice versa. The six most significant bits of the first octet of the address are used to define a domain for the address, and the second-least significant bit of the first octet indicates that the address is a locally administered MAC address. The second and third octets of the address are used to indicate a unit-specific use. The last three octets of the address indicate an organizationally assigned unit-unique MAC address. Additional address mapping functions may map original addresses from different sources onto the same Ethernet network while maintaining the uniqueness of each virtual MAC address.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2004Date of Patent: November 25, 2008Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (PUBL)Inventors: Peter Skov Christensen, Kim Hyldgaard, Torben Melsen

Patent number: 7457956Abstract: The present invention relates to securing information in open systems and more particularly to a method and a system for providing authentication, confidentiality and integrity protection of arbitrary communication services. A client that wishes to communicate with a particular service downloads a signed program code from that service containing code necessary for doing authenticated key exchange with that service. The client is assumed to support only two basic cryptographic functions: signing of arbitrary data by using a public key algorithm together with a one way hash function, and verifying a public key signature of arbitrary data. By allowing the security protocol needed for key exchange and data communication protection to be downloaded the number of predefined security functions that a client or server needs to support is limited. This also makes it much easier to update the communication protection since only the server program needs to be updated.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2001Date of Patent: November 25, 2008Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventor: Christian Gehrmann

Publication number: 20080285523Abstract: The present invention relates to uplink transmissions and scheduling of resources for uplink transmissions in connection with packet switched communication. A radio communication network schedules (301) time slots for transmission of bursts of a first radio block on at least two different uplink packet data channels and transmits (302) an Uplink State Flag, associated with a mobile station for which the first radio block was scheduled, on a first downlink packet data channel representing a first subperiod within a basic uplink period. The mobile station receives (303) the Uplink State Flag, identifies (304) the scheduled resources for transmission of the first radio block wherein the timing of the first subperiod is derived utilizing the fact that the Uplink State Flag was received on the first downlink packet data channel and transmits (305) the first radio block utilizing the identified resources.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 1, 2005Publication date: November 20, 2008Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventor: Peter Bjorken
