Abstract: A method and system for decoding low density parity check (“LDPC”) codes. An LDPC decoder includes an R select unit, a Q message first-in first-out (“FIFO”) memory, and a cyclic shifter. The R select unit provides an R message by selecting from a plurality of possible R message values. The Q message memory stores a Q message until an R message is generated by a CNU, the Q message and the R message are combined to provide a P message. The cyclic shifter shifts the P message.
Abstract: A dielectric resonator circuit is provided that is tunable over a broad frequency range and/or a broad bandwidth range. The center frequency is made tunable over a broad range by use of a dielectric tuning plug that is positioned in a through hole within the resonator. The bandwidth is made tunable over a broad range by tilting the resonators relative to the enclosure to increase the effective height of the cavity as seen by the resonator.
Abstract: Scenes having at least one simulated sound source and simulated sound-reflecting objects are simulated by processing a direct-sound signal with at least one head-related transfer-function, thereby generating a simulated direct-sound signal, and generating simulated early-reflection signals from the simulated direct-sound signal, including simulating early reflections having incidence angles different from the incidence angle of the direct-sound signal. Externalization of the simulated sound source is enhanced.

The device may include an outer shell. membrane, or mesh and an inner membrane. The space between the outer member and the membrane may be filled with fluid that is pressurized during contraction. The device prescribes a beneficial strain pattern during heart contraction. This strain pattern does not invert the curvatures or grossly alter the curvatures of the heart and may assist in myocyte regrowth and healing of the failing heart.
Abstract: A unit for purifying water contaminated by droplets of hydrocarbonaceous liquid has an essentially vertically positioned filter, an inlet chamber for the contaminated water that is partially defined by a first vertical surface of the filter, supply means for contaminated water debouching in the lower portion of the inlet chamber, and outlet means connected to the upper portion of the inlet chamber for discharging hydrocarbonaceous liquid separated from the water in the inlet chamber. The operational period between filter cleaning and/or the hourly capacity of the filter is increased by injecting fine gas bubbles into the contaminated water in least one location selected from locations in the lower portion of the inlet chamber and locations in the supply means to produce a stream of gas bubbles upwards along the first vertical filter surface.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for coupling a meter register to a communication device such that output data signals from the meter register can be transmitted to a remote location. The coupling arrangement includes a data transfer wire that is connected to the meter register and is inductively coupled to the communication device such that the data transfer wire does not need to be conductively connected to the communication device. During installation of the communication device, the inductive coupling between the data transfer wire and the communication device eliminates the requirement of a conductive connection.

Abstract: An antenna has a 90-degree polarization separation between at least two antenna elements regardless of how a user adjusts the antenna, and yet enables the user to adjust the antenna for the best signal reception. The antenna has a pivotally adjustable structure that is configured to maintain the antenna elements at substantially a right angle with respect to each other, including a universal joint that enables the antenna to be rotated in mutually orthogonal planes. The user in one step can adjust the antenna for the best reception and simultaneously maintain optimum polarization separation between the main and the diversity antenna elements.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for identifying correct peaks in outputs of matched filters in user equipment for communication systems are provided. A received signal is correlated with a replica of a synchronization signal, thereby producing a correlation output signal. Peaks are detected in the correlation output signal. The peak is tested at a plurality of predetermined locations that are based on properties of the synchronization signal, thereby producing a plurality of peak test signals. Abstract: An active load arrangement is used to provide proper output load to an object TO under test. The arrangement Z comprises a voltage_controlled transistor MOSFET having a source S, a gate G and a drain D. The drain D is associated with the gate G and connected to an arrangement input I2 associated with an output O1 of the object under test. The source S is connected to an arrangement output O2 associated with an input I1 of the object under test. A feedback arrangement is connected to the source S and the gate G. The feedback arrangement changes phase and amplitude of the gate-to-source voltage by varying frequency in order to obtain low impedance at low frequencies and high impedance at high frequencies.

Abstract: A method for multihop packet trasmissions in a wireless network involves establishing a multihop route through the wireless network. After establishment of the multihop route, transmission protocol parameter are altered to minimize delays for transmissions over the multihop route and at least one packet is transmitted over the multihop route according to the altered transmission protocol parameters. In a first embodiment, the altering of the transmission protocol parameters includes setting a NAV value at each node of the multihop route for a duration of the packet transmissions over the route. In an alternative embodiment, multihop packets are assigned a higher QoS value.

Abstract: Providing resiliency for mobile terminal data sessions, wherein the data sessions rely on Internet Protocol Version 4 and wherein at least one Home Agent node maintains a mobility bindings database for all registered mobile terminals while they are away from a home network. A first aspect of the invention provides physical Home Agent redundancy, perceived by each mobile node as Home Agent IP address redundancy, and a second aspect provides session resiliency. While the second aspect of the invention provides for session resiliency, it uses a mechanism of the former for master failure detection and Home Agent IP address take-over by a backup Home Agent.

Abstract: Code division multiple access signals received through at least one multipath propagation channel are processed to produce at least one relative frequency error estimate. This involves receiving and processing the signals using a local frequency reference oscillator to obtain representative complex numerical samples for processing. The complex numerical samples are correlated with shifts of a locally generated despreading code and a number of complex channel estimates are produced, each corresponding to a different delayed ray of the at least one multipath propagation channel. A frequency error estimate is computed for each ray based on successive values of a respective one of the channel estimates, and a weighted summation of the frequency error estimates is performed to provide at least one relative frequency error estimate.
