  • Patent number: 7436841
Abstract: A Present Application Server (PAS) is holding a presence list for each user is introduced. The presence list of a first user comprises other network registered users for which the first user, wants to track the registration status. The registration status of each user corresponds to the user's registration status in their associated Gatekeepers. Each time a change in registration status for a user occurs in its associated Gatekeeper, the Gatekeeper will send a message including an identification of both the user and the Gatekeeper, in addition to information concerning the change of status (register or unregister). The presence lists affected by the change of the registration status of said user is updated in the PAS. Then the associated users are informed by messages sent from the PAS via the Gatekeeper to the user's EndPoints. The messages are adapted to refresh URL's at the EndPoints pointing at the user's presence list.

  • Patent number: 7437153
Abstract: A method and apparatus for taking measurements in a mobile telecommunications system are disclosed, the system comprising a network of a plurality of cells and at least one user equipment device. The method comprises, at the user equipment device, receiving a measurement control set-up command and, in response the user equipment device, setting up the measurements. Then it monitors for a change in state of the UE and, in response to a change in state, issuing a measurement control pause command and, in response, the user equipment device stopping taking measurements, and maintains the measurement settings initialised previously. The device then monitors for a change in state of the UE and, in response to a change in state, issuing a measurement control resume command and, in response, the user equipment device resumes taking measurements with the maintained measurement settings.

  • Patent number: 7437175
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for determining when uplink synchronization has been achieved when entering or adding a link in soft handover to a new node in a communication system. Transmit power control (TPC) commands from the new link are not included in a TPC command combination until an uplink synchronization detector determines that synchronization has been achieved. Since in many communication systems, a pattern of TPC commands is transmitted on the new downlink as long as the new node's uplink is not synchronized, the uplink synchronization detector can determine whether synchronization has been achieved by determining whether the TPC command pattern is present in the new downlink. In this way, the UL synchronization detector reduces the occurrence and magnitude of unwanted peaks and dips in uplink transmitted power.

  • Publication number: 20080247686
Abstract: A packaging with improved reclosable opening is disclosed having a packaging body. The packaging body has an upper front main packaging sheet; a lower front main packaging sheet and a back main packaging sheet which are sealed together to form an edge-to-edge sealing. A reclosable opening is provided for inserting objects into the packaging. A diverting is means predisposed in such a manner and has a dimension sufficient to cover the reclosable opening to direct airflow away from the reclosable opening when there is an increase in internal air pressure. A weakened sealing is formed at a part of the edge-to-edge sealing wherein the weakened sealing ruptures when the increase in internal air pressure has build up to a critical point. When increased internal air pressure has build up to a critical point, the weakened sealing ruptures to allow air to vent through. The critical point is reached when the internal pressure is greater than external pressure to a sufficient extent to rupture the weakened sealing.

  • Patent number: 7433433
Abstract: Methods and apparatus that achieve good channel estimation without using unnecessarily complex interpolation filters are described. Adaptive interpolation filtering of a signal in a receiver includes determining at least one correlation function parameter of the channel and determining a filter configuration based on the correlation function parameter. Interpolation filtering is then performed on the signal using the determined filter configuration. The interpolation may be performed in time, where a Doppler frequency shift can serve as the correlation function parameter, or in frequency, where a root mean square or maximum delay spread can serve as the correlation function parameter, or both. A worst case signal-to-noise ratio may be used in determining the filter configuration, or, optionally, the signal-to-noise ratio can determined in real time. The filter configuration can be determined in real time or selected from one of a plurality of predetermined configurations having different complexities.

  • Patent number: 7432794
Abstract: A variable integrated inductor is described herein which has an inductance value that can be switched between two or more values. In the preferred embodiment, the variable integrated inductor includes a multi-loop primary inductor which is electromagnetically coupled to a pair of secondary inductors. The secondary inductors are connected to one another to form a closed circuit within which the secondary inductors have a changeable topology that can be switched between a series connection and a parallel connection in order to change an inductance value which is output by the multi-loop primary inductor. In one application, the variable integrated inductor is used in a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) which is of the type that can be used in a multi-band RF radio transceiver (e.g., wireless communication device).

  • Publication number: 20080236895
Abstract: Oil-based drilling fluid is prepared for further processing to recover the drilling fluid by pumping the drilling fluid through a flow meter. Surfactant may be added to the drilling fluid by using a dose pump and a flow meter. The drilling fluid and surfactant are then blended by passing them through a static mixer. A flocculating polymer is transferred via dose pumps to another static mixer where it is blended with the surfactant and drilling fluid mixture. To ensure adequate mixing and reaction, additional mixers are included through which the mixture passes. A centrifuge is used to separate solid particles from the fluid.

  • Publication number: 20080243984
Abstract: A system and method for displaying data provided by a sensor in Polar coordinates on a raster scan device operating in Cartesian coordinates. Cartesian coordinates for display points on said raster scan device are converted to corresponding Polar coordinates, and sensor data values for said Polar coordinates are fetched for display on said raster scan device. The coordinates are converted by differentiating the equations mapping Polar coordinates to Cartesian coordinates, and solving the differential relationships using a suitable integration method. Preferable the integration method is a Midpoint method. In order to avoid divisions and speed up the conversion process, synthetic division in Newton-Ralphson iteration is used instead.

  • Publication number: 20080240448
Abstract: Realistic simulation of acoustic obstruction/occlusion effects in virtual-reality software applications is achieved by specifying whether a type of filter function is low-pass or high-pass and a cut-off frequency and stop-band attenuation of the filter function. The stop-band attenuation can be specified merely qualitatively, for example as “weak”, “nominal”, or “strong”. As a complement or alternative, obstruction/occlusion can be specified in terms of obstruction objects, such as blocking objects, enclosure objects, surface objects, and medium objects. An obstruction object is specified in terms of one or more environmental parameters and corresponds to naturally occurring acoustically obstructive/occlusive objects, such as curtains, walls, forests, fields, etc. The two specification types—filter specification parameters and environmental parameters—may co-exist in the same implementation or one or the other of the interfaces can be used in a particular implementation.
