Publication number: 20020176423Abstract: A method, system and agent for exchanging the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Technical Specification document number a first node uses, with a second node of the network, so that subsequent communications can be properly carried between the nodes. The first node may be an agent and the second node may be a manager of a management system. The manager sends a GetXXXIRPVersion request message, a GetNotificationCategories request message, or a GetNetworkResourceSchemeId request message, to which the agent responds with an abridged version of the 3GPP TS document number the agent uses in this type of communications, so that the manager is informed of the protocol employed by the agent and can expect communications of the type indicated by the agent.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2001Publication date: November 28, 2002Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget L M EricssonInventors: Andre Godin, Nicolas Gosselin, David McAleer, Edwin Tse

Publication number: 20020178225Abstract: A web-based service that facilitates the on-line reconnecting or linking up of people who have had a previous encounter in a prior off-line, locally-based context, e.g. at a place, event, or venue such as bar, subway, or in passing, and wanted to meet, but where one person did not have the opportunity at the time to approach the other person or had not seized the prior opportunity to pursue. Implementing web-based communication and e-mail messaging techniques, the web-enabled service provides functionality that enables registered users to post messages, that are directed to a person who may have had a brief prior experience, interaction or moment together with the user at a prior place and time. These messages are posted in a public place for all viewers to see, in hopes that the individual the user is trying to re-connect with sees it and responds.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2001Publication date: November 28, 2002Applicant: M&G Enterprises LLCInventors: Douglas Madenberg, Adam Greene

Patent number: 6487257Abstract: For purposes of noise suppression, spectral subtraction filtering is performed in sample-wise fashion in the time domain using a time-domain representation of a spectral subtraction gain function computed in block-wise fashion in the frequency domain. By continuously performing time-domain filtering on a sample by sample basis, the disclosed methods and apparatus avoid block-processing delays associated with frequency-domain based spectral subtraction systems. Consequently, the disclosed methods and apparatus are particularly well suited for applications requiring very short processing delays. In applications where only stationary, low-energy background noise is present, computational complexity is reduced by generating a number of separate spectral subtraction gain functions during an initialization period, each gain function being suitable for one of several predefined classes of input signal (e.g.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1999Date of Patent: November 26, 2002Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M EricssonInventors: Harald Gustafsson, Ingvar Claesson, Sven Nordholm

Patent number: 6480824Abstract: In a technique for canceling noise from a microphone communications path, an electrical equivalence circuit which is positioned close to and electrically matched to the microphone produces a signal free reference signal. The microphone converts speech to a voice signal. An analog multiplexer alternately switches from the microphone to the electrical equivalence circuit to produce a multiplexed analog signal composed of the voice signal from the microphone and the signal free reference signal from the electrical equivalence circuit. A wire connects the output of the analog multiplexer switch to an A/D converter. The wire picks up noise from the surrounding environment. The A/D converter converts the multiplexed signal having the noise to a plurality of voice samples taken from the voice signal portion of the multiplexed signal and a plurality of noise samples taken from the signal free reference signal portion of the multiplexed signal. A noise cancellation unit applies a noise suppression algorithm (e.g.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1999Date of Patent: November 12, 2002Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Nils Christensson, Alberto Jimenez Feltström

Patent number: 6477932Abstract: RF beam sources (HPM sources) serve in the non-lethal destruction, interference or screening of targets. An explosive-triggered RF beam source (2) constructed solely from a pulse-generation device (4), whose generated pulses are radiated directly at a target is provided. The pulse generator (4) is a magnetic flux compressor, and has a coil (6) that is filled with explosive material (10). A capacitive load (CL) integrated into the RF beam source (2) is connected on the output side to the pulse-generator (4), and forms an electrical resonating circuit with the coil (6) and simultaneously functions as an antenna. Preferably, an element (14) is mounted in the region (13) between the coil body (6.1) and the windings (6.2) to increase the number of free electrons for supporting the plasma formation and attaining a higher conversion of chemical energy into electrical energy, and therefore inducing a higher frequency.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2001Date of Patent: November 12, 2002Assignee: Rheinmetall W & M GmbHInventor: Markus Jung

Patent number: 6478965Abstract: Dilute solutions of fermentation sales may be concentrated by extracting water using low-miscibility, low-molecular-weight secondary and tertiary amines, e.g. triethylamine (TEA), diisopropyl amine (DIA), N,N-diethylmethylamine (DEMA), and mixtures thereof. At 30° C.-55° C., which corresponds to typical fermentation temperatures, these low-molecular-weight amines or their mixtures, can extract large amounts of water from dilute aqueous solutions containing fermentation salts. Thus, dilute fermentation salt solutions can be concentrated by selectively removing water. At these low temperatures, the amine phase contains 20-35% water and a much reduced quantity of fermentation salt. When the temperature is raised, water phases out of the amine, allowing the amine to be recycled and reused to extract additional water. Using this approach, about 82.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1999Date of Patent: November 12, 2002Assignee: The Texas A&M University SystemInventors: Mark T. Holtzapple, Richard R. Patent number: 6474422Abstract: A method for controlling a subsea well that includes shutting at least one blowout preventer, opening at least one isolation line, and circulating an influx out of a well while an inlet pressure of a subsea mudlift pump is adjusted to maintain a substantially constant drill pipe pressure at an initial circulating pressure. After the influx is circulated out of the well, drilling mud with a kill mud weight is pumped into the well. The drill pipe pressure is reduced according to a preselected drill pipe pressure decline schedule until the kill mud weight drilling mud reaches the bottom of the well. The drill pipe pressure is then maintained at a final circulating pressure by adjusting the inlet pressure of the subsea mudlift pump. The kill mud weight drilling mud is then circulated from the well bottom to the surface at the final circulating pressure.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2000Date of Patent: November 5, 2002Assignees: Texas A&M University System, Conoco, Inc.Inventors: Jerome J.
