  • Patent number: 6467199
Abstract: A hand-held control device for a V-blade plow in which left and right plow blade wings are pivotally mounted on a vertical pivot on a vehicle mounting frame and actuated about the vertical pivot by electric switch-controlled hydraulic actuators, there being an electric switch to control the extension of a hydraulic actuator, respectively, and an electrical switch for controlling retraction of the hydraulic actuator, respectively. Each electrical switch has an associated thumb actuator, the thumb actuators being in an array so that an operator's thumb or finger can actuate two thumb actuators simultaneously while gripping the hand-held control device with the same hand. The plow includes a third hydraulic actuator for raising and lowering the frame relative to ground and an electric switch pair for controlling extension and retraction, respectively, of the third hydraulic actuator.

  • Patent number: 6468000
Abstract: A primary support for a tunnel roof comprising elongated lagging members which are “extruded” from tubes forming a shield for a tunnel boring machine. The lagging is inserted into the tubes at different times so as to avoid having the ends of adjacent lagging members coincide. As the tunneling machine progresses in the direction of boring, the lagging members emerge from the shield tubes to form a primary tunnel roof lining. Ring beams or arc beams may be installed as required by rock bolts or other fastening devices.

  • Patent number: 6470075
Abstract: A method and system for determining whether at least one telephone subscriber participating in a communication session is marked for monitoring by a Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) and, if so, for automatically marking for monitoring all remaining participants in the communication session. In a presently preferred exemplary embodiment, the subscribers are marked for monitoring their communications for a selected period of time by a starting the timer each time a new subscriber is marked. In another preferred exemplary embodiment, the subscribers marking level is detected and verified to determine if the marking level satisfies a pre-defined condition associated therewith. If so, the corresponding subscriber is marked for monitoring and the subscriber's subsequent communications are monitored.

  • Patent number: 6470193
Abstract: A power efficient indoor radio base station for use with wireless cellular telecommunication systems is disclosed. A small unitary package design is achieved by reducing the level of power dissipation, and subsequently, the size of the heat sink required for heat dissipation. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of transmitter signals are combined in a hybrid combiner to generate a pair of output signals. A first output signal is transmitted through a dipole antenna resulting in vertical polarization and a second output signal is transmitted through a horizontal antenna producing horizontal polarization. Further, a phase shift of 90° is introduced between the signals prior to transmission. The resulting simultaneous transmission of the perpendicularly oriented signals yields a substantially circular polarized field in the area of coverage.

Abstract: The present invention is a new catalyst compositions and methods of making and using the same. These compositions comprise organometallic salts with large noncoordinating anions which contain at least one terminal unsaturation and the high dipole moment Zwitterions that these can isomerize into. During polymerization, the ionic pairs are dispersed within the polymer particles. The length of space separating the positive and negative end of the Zwitterion also increase as a consequence of polymerization. Additionally, polymerization proceeds without the need of a co-catalyst.

  • Patent number: 6466160
Abstract: The receive part of an array antenna of base station system may be interpreted as self-calibrating. However the transmit direction of the array antenna may not coincide with the receive direction due to the difference in receive and transmit frequency. The present application teaches how a correction be performed for the transmitting direction by using the same phase compensations of the receiving direction also in the transmitting direction with a proportional correction for the difference in transmit frequency. A Frequency Domain Duplex (FDD) system is foreseen as the prerequisite for the applicability of present invention, but it will also work for a Time Division Duplex (TDD) system. By calculating during reception a first feed cable weight set by means of an adaptive algorithm at the receive frequency a corresponding second cable weight set for a transmit frequency can be calculated.

  • Patent number: 6466936
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of regulating the load in a distributed database (A), where the information within the database is distributed between several different nodes (1, 2, 3, . . . , k) belonging to the database. A request (4a) from a user (4) is served either by the node to which the user connects, here designated the receiving node (1), or by some other node after the receiving node (1) has forwarded the request to a node that can meet the request, this node being called the serving node (2). Respective nodes are given one or several key-numbers which limit the number of requests that respective nodes may accept in their role as a receiving node (1). The key-numbers are related to the executing capacity of the database (A).

  • Patent number: 6464854
Abstract: The present invention provides a self-replenishing liquid water source onboard an automobile for supplying liquid water to an electrolyzer, such as an on-board hydrogen generator useful for the suppression of unwanted emissions. While automobiles typically have water reservoirs resupplied by a person, the invention provides a passive means of water collection for reliable replenishment due to operations of the automobile itself. The invention provides condensate from the engine exhaust gas by cooling a region of the exhaust system using cooling fluid from the engine coolant system. The cooling fluid is circulated during a period following the engine cold start event when the heat load on the engine coolant system is low.

  • Patent number: 6467085
Abstract: The principal impediment to achieving interoperability, modifiability, implementation-independence and the reuse of object-oriented software components is the strong coupling between objects. The preferred solution to this problem involves adding an output port to each object and further making this additional output port part of a new software development approach that is an extension of the object-orientation paradigm. The resulting component-oriented software development environment provides the level of indirect addressing that is needed to manage the design requirements of interoperability, modifiability and implementation-independency. Another solution to the decoupling problem includes requiring each object to address other objects only indirectly, such as by using specific interface objects. Several variants of this technique have been detailed, described and compared in this patent application. Each of these techniques may be applied in different parts, or at different levels, of a software system.

  • Publication number: 20020147010
Abstract: In an unsolicited page response scenario within a telecommunications network, a control channel access indicator with an unsolicited paging response is set to designate a digital control channel to indicate that a page validation must occur at the VLR connected to the satellite MSC receiving the message. If the indicator is not present or its value is set to designate an analog control channel, the page validation occurs at a BSC connected to the satellite MSC receiving the message. When the network is a TDMA network that has adopted the GPRS technology solution, the control channel access indicator is set to designate an analog control channel to indicate that the page order search should be conducted in the TDMA paging stack of the receiving satellite MSC. If the indicator is set to designate a digital control channel, then the search will be performed in the GPRS stack of the receiving satellite MSC.
