Patent number: 6366146Abstract: The invention relates to reference handover in clock signal generation systems and similar applications. The idea according to the invention is to introduce a so-called “virtual” delay in the control loop of a PLL for the purpose of forcing the control loop to shift the phase of the PLL output clock signal, while still maintaining the mandatory phase lock condition of the PLL relative to a primary reference signal, towards a predetermined target phase relation with the primary reference signal. By utilizing a virtual delay, the problems associated with explicit delay elements such as passive or active delay lines are avoided, and a more robust and accurate clock phasing mechanism is obtained. Preferably, the virtual is introduced by superimposing an external phasing control signal in the control loop of the PLL on the output signal/input signal of a control loop element.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2001Date of Patent: April 2, 2002Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventor: Jesper Fredriksson

Patent number: 6363580Abstract: A fiber distributor for forming an air-laid fiber web on a running endless forming wire which, during operation, in principle is horizontal. The fiber distributor includes a suction unit positioned under the forming wire, a housing positioned above the forming wire and having at least one combined fiber and air inlet, and a base having a number of flow openings, and a number of rotational wings positioned above this base. These wings distribute the fibers along the upper side of the base. The base is designed as a grid with grid bars which taper in a downwards direction. In the flow openings of the grid, a slip is advantageously formed which prevents the fibers from packing together and blocking the openings during operation. The fiber distributor is thus, at a continuous high capacity and is able to form an even and homogenous fiber layer on the forming wire.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2000Date of Patent: April 2, 2002Assignee: M & J Fibretech A/SInventors: Birger Elmgaard Sørensen, Jens Ole Bröchner

Patent number: 6363086Abstract: A method for combining signals being conveyed across a digital interface is disclosed. In one embodiment, a subharmonic of a frequency is superimposed on asynchronous data. The subharmonic can be used to carry a frequency reference across the digital interface. In another embodiment, a time stamp algorithm is used to carry a time reference from a master circuit to a slave circuit across a digital interface. The transmission delay between the master circuit and slave circuit is measured. The master circuit transmits time correction messages to the slave circuit, based on the time the correction message is transmitted plus the transmission delay. In another embodiment, a reset signal is carried across a digital interface by discontinuing the transfer of a frequency reference for a predetermined time. A lowpass filter can be used at the receiving side of the interface to recognize the absence of the frequency reference and initiate a reset procedure at that side.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1998Date of Patent: March 26, 2002Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Dan Lindqvist, Jacob Österling

Patent number: 6360076Abstract: A method in a radio telecommunications network of broadcasting data in an over-the-air multicast to a group of mobile terminals. Statistics from regular point-to-point cellular transmissions to build a statistical database for each base station. The statistical data indicate the optimal signal quality that users normally experience when operating in that cell. From this data, a minimum transmission quality (TQmin) that a mobile terminal must receive for the type of data being broadcast is determined. The method then broadcasts a test transmission to the mobile terminals, and includes a maximum transmission quality (TQmax) in order to limit the number of responses. A response is then received from a mobile terminal representative of the group, the response including an indication of the received transmission quality. The method then determines whether the received transmission quality was greater than or equal to TQmin.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1999Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Louis Segura, David Sugirtharaj, Samy Touati
