Abstract: A method for providing bag-like packaging units (4) for receiving absorbent disposable articles, such as incontinence guards, sanitary napkins and diapers, with bags (5) in which used articles can be kept temporarily. According to the invention, the packaging unit is provided with a pocket (7, 9) into which the bags (5) are inserted prior to filling the packaging unit with absorbent particles. The present invention also relates to a packaging unit with which the method can be carried out.
Abstract: Elastic tapes consisting of non-weldable elastic warp threads and weldable thermoplastic weft threads, are fixed to one side of a cover layer of a disposable diaper by ultrasonic welding of the thermoplastic weft threads

Abstract: A belt conveyor which includes an endless perforated belt having a top run and a bottom run, of which the top run communicates with an underlying suction box at least over a part of its length. The belt is cogwheel-driven and, seen its movement direction, includes transverse ribs which coact with the cogs of a cogwheel and a cog drive of the conveyor.
Abstract: A disposable liquid-absorbing article, such as a diaper (10), sanitary towel or similar, having a substantially longitudinal shape and including an absorption body (12) and a cover (11) enclosing the absorption body with a liquid-pervious inner sheet (17) and an outer sheet (18) and contracting elastics members (23) in contact with at least one of the sheets to give the article its shape in an in-use position. The cover sheet on which the elastics members are applied, is connected to the inside and outside of the absorption body respectively, and the elastics members (23) extend with at least one substantially continually curved portion (24, 25) over at least an area of the absorption body. The strive of the elastics members to contract and the contact of the elastics members with one of the sheets, exert a tension force on the sheet in a direction towards the curvature center of the elastics members, whereby this force is transferred and absorbed by the absorption body.
Abstract: A method and device for controlling the power intake of a welding unit (1) with an ultrasonic horn (2) and an anvil holder (3) equipped with anvils (4). The mean distance of the ultrasonic horn (2) from the anvil (4) is controlled so that the power intake of the welding unit (1) will coincide with a predetermined control value.
Abstract: An absorbent article for one-time use only, such as a disposable diaper, incontinence guard, sanitary napkin, panty protector or the like, includes at least one hose-like fold (20, 20', 21, 21') which extends in the transverse and/or longitudinal direction of the article. Mounted in the fold (20, 20', 21, 21') are mutually spaced elastic elements (32, 32', 33, 33') which are fastened to respective end parts (27, 27', 28, 28') of the fold on respective sides of fold lines (24, 25) which depart from the upper casing layer (1) of the article, although these elastic elements (32, 32', 33, 33') are freely moveable in the intermediate part (29, 29') of the fold.

Abstract: An absorbent body intended to form the absorbent element of an absorbent article, such as a diaper, an incontinence guard or a sanitary napkin, includes a first fibre-based absorbent layer which lies proximal to the wearer in use, and a second, fibre-based absorbent layer which is intended to lie distal from the wearer in use, this second layer having a high liquid-dispersing ability. An absorbent body exhibiting particularly good absorption properties has been obtained by including in the first layer (16) a superabsorbent material (18) of high gel-strength and by mixing this superabsorbent essentially uniformly in the fibre material within at least one area of the layer, and by including between the fibre layers (17a, 17b) of the second layer (17) a layer (20) of superabsorbent material.
Abstract: A disposable diaper in which elastic which provides elasticized leg cuffs is accommodated in a pocket of material formed by either a facing sheet or a backing sheet of the diaper. The pocket extends along each longitudinal edge portion of the diaper. Fastening member for fastening the diaper around a wearer are affixed to the diaper between the facing sheet and the backing sheet.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing of an absorbent structure in an absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, tampon, panty protector, incontinence guard, diaper, bed protector, wound or sore dressing, saliva absorbent and like articles is comprising the use of absorbent material in roll form directly in the product without first defibrating the material and then forming a mat. The material possesses good aquisition properties, which are meaningful to the function of the product. A high surface dryness is obtained, among other things. In addition to cellulose fibers, the absorbent structure may also include superabsorbent material and/or binding fibers, among other ingredients. The pulp mat is very thin, therewith obviating the need to compress the mat further in the product. In the case of certain product applications, the material is softened mechanically prior to its use as an absorbent material.

Abstract: A disposable, absorbent article such as a diaper or an incontinence guard includes an absorbent pad disposed between inner and outer casing layers. At least one of the inner and outer casing layers is made of an elastic material having areas from which material has been removed while leaving coherent material parts in order to impart different elastic properties to different parts of the material. The material removed can be in the form of through holes or blind holes.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an absorbent disposable article, such as a sanitary napkin, a panty protector, or a diaper. The article includes at least two generally flat, flexible bodies which include absorbent material and which, in a packaging state, can lie against one another with first flat sides which are intended to face toward the wearer when the article is in use. Two neighboring bodies of the article are mutually joined along a first common edge which forms a folding line around which the bodies can be folded out from their packaging state and which includes an arcuate section which, in the packaging state of the article, is arched toward a second opposing edge of the bodies.
Abstract: A tampon (8) includes an absorbent body (2) which is embraced by a fluid-permeable casing (4) of thermoplastic non-woven material. A withdrawal string (7) attached to the absorbent body (2) exits centrally from one end surface (10) of the tampon. The casing material (4) is heat-sealed at least at the central part of the end surface (10), by pressing a mandrel (9) against the end (10) of the tampon, so as to coalesce the thermoplastic material to an essentially fluid-impervious film (11). This improves the protection of the tampon against leakage and also increases the stability of the tampon.
Abstract: In a method of manufacturing material suitable for use as a top sheet in an absorbent disposable article, such as a sanitary napkin, an incontinence guard or a diaper, a laminate (1) comprised of a plastic film (2) and a layer of non-woven material (3) on at least one side of the plastic film is applied to a perforated supportive device (6) with one layer of non-woven material facing towards the supportive device. The plastic film is heated to a temperature above its softening temperature and there is generated between the two mutually opposing sides of the laminate a pressure difference of such magnitude that the plastic film will rupture within the regions of the holes in the supportive device so as to form openings (10) which lead to the associated non-woven material. A soft and smooth, liquid-permeable top sheet material is achieved.
