  • Patent number: 4889136
Abstract: The present invention relates to a surgical drape having a first rectangular part (A) which is intended to cover a patient and a second rectangular part (B) which is joined to the first drape part (A) and which is intended to be placed over an anaesthetist's arch. In accordance with the invention, one short side of the first drape part has formed therein a cut-out (2) in the shape of a truncated V. The second drape part (B) has formed therein a similar cut-out (2), which is formed in the center of one long side of the second drape part. The first and second drape parts are joined together along the edges of the cut-outs. The invention provides a surgical drape which can be easily manufactured by machine and which is easily managed.

  • Patent number: 4880421
Abstract: The present invention relates to a disposable absorbent article (1) such as a diaper or an incontinence protector intended during use to seal like a pant around the user's abdomen and comprising an absorption body (4) applied between a liquid impermeable outer layer (2) facing away from the user and a liquid permeable inner layer (3) facing the user, these two layers being interconnected at least along the long sides of the article. The inventive article is primarily distinguished in that a strip (13,14) of a liquid impermeable material, extending in the transverse direction of the article, is disposed at least at one end portion of the article, this strip having a portion (16,17) positioned between the absorption body (4) and the liquid permeable inner layer (3) and a portion (18,19) folded over the end edge (10,15) of the absorption body while being secured to the liquid impermeable outer layer (2), the article thereby obtaining a liquid-tight reinforced edge portion (22,23).

  • Patent number: 4838868
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tape serving the purpose of securing hypodermic needles. The tape includes a carrier layer known per se and attachable over a hypodermic needle fixed in position. The carrier layer is partly cut in its one direction and has on its side intended to face the hypodermic needle and the patient's body an adhesive coating for fastening it to the patient's skin. This adhesive coating, which is covered with release foil portions, extends across the whole attachment area of the carrier layer, one release foil portion simultaneously extending over the non-slit section of that layer, and either one of two additional release foil portions extending over its own respective section of the carrier layer cut or separated by the slit.

  • Patent number: 4828555
Abstract: An elongated absorbent article, such as a diaper or an incontinence protector, comprises an absorption body disposed in a casing and having between its two ends a crotch portion. The absorption body comprises a bottom sheet (1) and a top sheet (2), the top sheet being adapted to lie in contact with the wearer and to serve as a spacer means between the skin of the wearer and the bottom sheet. The top sheet (2) has parts (9, 10) which are located along two side-edge portions of the bottom sheet and which define laterally between them at least one space (7) around a wetting point of the article.

  • Patent number: 4821351
Abstract: A bed and/or chair device comprises a stand (1) and a support surface arrangement (2, 3, 4), which is divided in at least two mutually movable parts, namely a back support (2) and a thigh supporting and possibly also seat supporting part (3), the back support (2) and the thigh supporting part (3) being pivotably connected to the stand (1), a power means (11) being arranged to cause a pivoting movement of the back support (2) between different inclination positions with respect to the stand (1). A transmission arrangement is arranged to make the movement of the back support and the thigh supporting part dependent on each other, so that, in pivoting the back support (2) upwardly from a substantially horizontal position, the thigh supporting part (3) is initially pivoted upwardly with respect to the stand (1), until a maximally raised position is reached, after which a continued pivoting upwardly of the back support causes the thigh supporting part to pivot downwardly towards its initial position.

  • Patent number: 4818315
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fibrous absorption body intended for use in disposable products such as diapers, sanitary napkins or wound dressings and also, in addition to such a novel and improved body, a method for its manufacture. The distinguishing feature of the inventive absorption body is that at least one type of absorbing fibers is included therein as well as a binder activated by heat, preferably in the form of bonding fibers; that the absorption fibers are bonded to a coherent body with the aid of the binder; and that its body, due to compression of its bulk volume, will obtain a continuous density gradient throughout said volume which is retained both in a wet and in a dry state.

  • Patent number: 4802884
Abstract: A method of folding into packages, in connection with the manufacture thereof, disposable absorbent articles such as diapers or incontinence protectors comprising an absorbent body (1) enclosed in a casing extending laterally beyond the absorbent body and having casing portions intended to seal around the abdomen of the wearer, as well as elastic leg bands or threads (6, 7) affixed to the casing with portions (6', 7') extending at least partially along either side edge of the article at a distance beyond the absorbent body. The ends of the article are folded in with approximately equal lengths toward the mid-section of the article, which is thereafter folded together in the same direction into a four-folded state. The elastic portions (6', 7') at the center of the article are simultaneously held laterally stretched so as to encompass the laterally positioned article ends. The folded article, upon release of these elastic portions, is held together thereby in the state of a compact, four-folded package.

  • Patent number: 4781297
Abstract: A package for sterile articles, comprising a paper part and a plastic part connected to the paper part along longitudinal and transverse lines. The plastic part comprises a linearly oriented plastic film material which can be torn in its direction of orientation. This direction of orientation is parallel to those longitudinal lines, and tear indications on the plastic part at one end of the package are parallel to and disposed between but closely adjacent those longitudinal lines. The paper part has edge portions that are folded over toward each other. The longitudinal lines secure the plastic part to the outer sides of those folded-over portions, said folded-over portions having free edges that are between and spaced a substantially distance from the tear indications. There is a sterile article in the package, those edge portions being folded over the edges of the sterile article.

  • Patent number: 4762520
Abstract: An absorbent article such as a sanitary napkin or a diaper comprises an absorption body (9) accommodated in a casing (11). The casing is composed of a carded fiber fabric made in one piece and containing at least 5% of melt fibers, preferably polypropylene, sub-divided into parallel streaks (1, 3, 4, 5, 6) having different melt-bonded patterns. There are thus provided streaks of varying structures which are adapted to their individual positioning in relation to the absorption body (9). The casing (11) seals around the absorption body (9) with at least two layers (6, 2) on the side of the absorption body facing the user, the outermost layer (2) having a substantially tighter bonding pattern than the inner, loosely bonded and voluminous layer(s).
