  • Patent number: 4140455
Abstract: A continuously operating double belt press is provided in which the belts are formed from a plurality of articulated plates, which are in turn surrounded by endless steel bands which are pressed by low-pressure rollers and the plates against the material being compressed. Downstream of the plate belts, within the interior space surrounded by the pressing bands, respective large high-pressure rollers are disposed in facing relationship to one another. In order to improve the distribution and transfer of forces in the high-pressure zone adjacent the high-pressure rollers, a high-pressure endless belt is provided which surrounds the respective high-pressure rollers and runs between the high-pressure rollers and the pressing band. In preferred embodiments, reversing rollers are provided for the high-pressure endless belt, which reversing rollers serve to additionally press the high-pressure endless belt against the pressing band at a position spaced from the high-pressure rollers.

  • Patent number: 4137340
Abstract: A method for fixing a liquid toner image on a thermo-adhesive layer of a recording material by irradiating such layer with high intensity short duration light pulses. The energy is sufficiently high to cause a partial melting of the layer so that the toner particles become absorbed thereon but the duration of the light pulse is sufficiently short to avoid a permanent deformation of the recording material itself. A favourable supplementary effect is that during irradiation a simultaneous evaporation of the residual toner liquid takes place.

  • Patent number: 4136741
Abstract: A cultivating implement has an elongated frame portion with a front three point coupling that connects to the three point lift of a conventional tractor. A rear supporting structure for a further implement has spaced apart beams that extend forward to pivots near the lower two points of the front coupling. The structure has interconnected frame beams that are supported on ground wheels and the rear ends of the forwardly extending beams are fixed to vertical frame beams. Rearwardly extending arms are pivoted to the interconnected frame beams and these arms together with coupling plates on an upper tie beam, form a rear three point coupling. The arms are interconnected to the remainder of the structure by adjustable carrier arms. Ground wheels support the structure and a further implement that is connected to the rear coupling.

  • Patent number: 4135475
Abstract: A pressure roller for applying pressure to a sheet-like material passing between the pressure roller and an application roller for applying a layer of liquid to the material, as in the development of diazotype copies, comprises a plurality of relatively short constituent rollers connected to one another by connecting means which permit radial displacement of the adjacent constituent rollers relative to each other and wherein each constituent roller is urged toward the application roller by at least one resilient spring-like element. The pressure roller thus enables contact between it and the application roller with an even pressure, without significant sagging along its length, while allowing uneven areas of the sheet-like material to pass therebetween without affecting the force exerted over the entire nip between the rollers. Improved development of diazotype copies can thus be obtained.
