Abstract: A mechanism is disclosed for dispensing the uppermost sheet from a stack of sheets without excessive friction of the sheets against each other.The mechanism may advantageously be incorporated in a dispenser for radiographic film which may be installed in daylight conditions. In order to perform a loading cycle automatically, auxiliary expedients are described, particularly concerning the opening and closing of the radiographic cassette.

Abstract: A device for cooking meatballs has a frame supporting an open-ended drum for rotation on the frame about a substantially horizontal axis. The drum is open at both its inlet end and its outlet end and has for part of its length an outer wall together with the inner wall forming a jacket. Heating oil is brought into the jacket through an axial rotary joint and discharged from the jacket through a similar axial rotary joint. Within the drum is a plurality of helical fins spaced apart circumferentially. The fins are of a sufficient height to propel axially of the drum meatballs introduced thereto through the inlet end and to carry the meatballs to the outlet end for discharge therethrough. Extending axially a short distance away from the inner wall and preferably carried by adjacent portions of the fins are tumbling bars. These are effective to lift and release the meatballs.

Abstract: A differential pinion assembly, especially suitable for use in a motor-vehicle transmission is described.This assembly in adapted to transmit the movement to two axle-shafts, has a simple and very compact structure and the friction between the relative movement members is substantially a rolling friction.This assembly comprises a box in the inside of which rotates a differential carrier actuated by a driving toothed pinion engaging with a crown gear solid with the differential carrier. The differential carrier carries satellite gears rotatable relative to it and mates with corresponding planetary gears with each of which one of the aforesaid axle-shafts is solid. The main feature of this assembly is that of comprising a first row of rolling elements interposed and coupled between each of said planetary gears and the above mentioned differential carrier, as well as a second row of rolling elements interposed and coupled between said planetary gear and said box.

Abstract: This invention relates to a device for welding cylindrical elements headwise to one another, whereby the welding is achieved by subjecting the cylindrical parts during the welding operation to a radial pressure near the welding area, which radial pressure may be directed inwardly or outwardly, whereas the device employed comprises an elastic ring to be arranged around the parts to be welded, said ring being accommodated in a sleeve in which a conduit for the supply of pressurized medium to the space between the ring and the sleeve is arranged.

Abstract: A flat wrapping or package, e.g., for film sheets, particularly sheets of X-ray film, in which the margins of one web of wrapping material are folded inwardly over the edge margins of a narrower web of wrapping paper with the film sheets sandwiched in between, the contacting web portions are adhered together, and cut edges are sealed together. Each exterior web fold edge is creased along two closely spaced parallel lines spaced apart approximately the thickness of the wrapped film sheet so as to impart to the opposite side edges of the wrapping a generally concave configuration between an upper and lower corner.

Abstract: A conductor lead-through for elongated bodies, such as electric current conductors, which conductor lead-through is vacuum tight and contains no welded joints and is particularly suitable for use with difficultly weldable or non-weldable combinations of materials, said conductor lead-through comprising an assembly of parts including a cover, an intermediate ring engaging one end of the cover and a seal, such as an O-ring seal, the latter being fitted about said cover, said parts of said assembly being retained together and secured in an opening for that purpose by means of a clamp ring the periphery of which engages the wall of the opening.

Abstract: The invention contemplates a bicycle-braking system in which the rear-wheel brake is selectively operable, in which rear wheel braking torque is the means of actuating the front brake, and further in which substantial force-amplification characterizes the actuating connection between (a) rear-wheel torque-reaction pick-off and (b) front brake actuation. Rear-wheel braking torque is noted by physical displacement against a spring, so that if front-wheel brake torque becomes so effective as to substantially reduce rear-wheel brake torque, the spring will automatically react to reduce the magnitude of front-wheel brake effort.

Abstract: A water ski particularly adapted to function as the front ski of a twin ski, jet-driven water vehicle which is steered by turning of the front ski. Sections of the water ski define a planing surface and a pair of inclined, laterally spaced side surfaces extending downwardly and laterally of the planing surface. The portions of the side surfaces lying in or cut by a horizontal plane are equidistant from each other when the planing surface is upwardly tipped at a predetermined angle. At this angle the pair of juncture lines formed between the pair of inner surfaces and the planing surface are laterally divergent in a downstream direction when viewed from above. Reduced frontal drag results.

Abstract: A suction dredging system comprises a vessel having an arm pivotally secured to it which can be positioned and held in an obliquely downwardly directed position and which itself comprises upper and lower parts which are pivotally interconnected with a link between them, the link making an angle with both parts of the arm so that motions of the upper part of the arm in the vertical plane are not or are hardly transmitted to the lower part of the arm by both parts of the arm. The lower part supports a suction mouth of a suction pipe as well as a rotary cutter whose shaft is disposed in the vertical plane of the arm, the lower part of the arm being stabilized by means of a hydropneumatic spring. A second hydropneumatic spring acts horizontally on the assembled link and lower part of the arm and cutter.

Abstract: A process for removing condensates from light gaseous streams comprises passing the stream over an oleophilic substance, that is, a substance which retains liquid hydrocarbon compounds. Said substance is preferably an aromatic polymer such as a polystyrene cross-linked with a mixture of divinyl benzene and ethyl-vinyl benzene.The process is particularly applicable to the analysis of gaseous compounds, such as water, in said gaseous streams, where the presence of such condensates can render the analysis results erroneous.There is also described a gas analyzer which comprises a means for removing such condensates which means employs such an oleophilic substance.

Abstract: A seat belt retractor of the inertia type comprises a rotatable shaft with a cam-surface driven thereby. A locking element movable on the cam surface is positively displaced by a control element fitted in a recess thereof and acting from an inertia element. The locking element, when driven by the inertia member, engages with the teeth on an annular locking ring to stop retraction of the seat belt attached to the shaft. The inertia element may be spring preloaded and a locking wheel may be provided to provide alternative locking torque for the inertia element when the car assumes a roll-over condition in which the seat belt would not ordinarily retract quickly.

The conveyor means comprises a lower elevator extending from the grain cleaning means to the grain tank, an upper elevator mounted within the grain tank and aligned with the lower elevator when the grain tank is in the grain loading position, and disengageable coupling means disposed between the lower and upper elevators.

An underlying descriptive line of the drum viewed in the direction from the inlet end to the outlet end slopes upwardly at least for a part and this gives rise to several embodiments.
