  • Patent number: 4087837
Abstract: A system is disclosed for forming a video representation of an X-ray shadow picture of a body. The system comprises an X-ray source, an X-ray screen, a video circuit with scanning means and display means, and a plate positioned between the X-ray source and the body. The plate has a transparency to X-radiation varying over its surface for spatially coding the X-rays. The system includes means in the video circuit for decoding the signal produced by the scanning means so that in the picture produced by the display means, the influence of the scattered radiation caused by the body is substantially eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4086008
Abstract: In an electrophotographic copying apparatus in which an imagewise exposed photoconductive plate moving to a developing station passes a light source and a light shield which are arranged for selectively exposing parts of the photoconductive plate outside the area of the copy image, the light shield is made slightly light transmitting, such as by making it of a glass or plastic having a light transmittance of 2.5 to 25%, so that the light source and shield serve the dual functions of fully exposing nonimage parts of the plate and weakly exposing its image area, thus improving the contrast and tone reproduction in the developed image.

  • Patent number: 4084394
Abstract: A harvester machine includes a plurality of harvester units that can be positioned side-by-side in a row that extends across the direction of operative travel in front of a tractor. The tractor is connected to a first coupling to push the machine when processing crop and a second coupling at one side of the machine can be used to tow the machine during transport; the units then being located one behind the other. Each unit includes cutting, threshing and cleaning means and a delivery device communicates with the units to remove grain through one or more outlets that extend over the tractor to a rear container. The units are interconnected by pivot connections at their sides with pivot axes extending in the direction of operative travel. Adjustable castor wheels support the units at the desired height and a common drive from the tractor engages the various threshing, cleaning, mowing and delivery devices including blowers.

  • Patent number: 4084334
Abstract: A cutting-head suction-dredger comprises a floating body, a ladder and a cutting-head carried by the lower end of the ladder. The ladder supports against the floating body through a rail guide which is adapted to tilt with respect to the floating body and which extends in the direction of length of the ladder. This prevents that the engagement of the cutting-head upon the ground is disturbed during heaving movements of the floating body.

  • Patent number: 4084850
Abstract: Optimal body weight distribution and excellent sacro-lumbar support is provided by a chair which changes configuration automatically to support the body in any sitting posture. The chair seat is mounted on a pair of laterally spaced-apart, elongated, substantially parallel seat supports disposed lengthwise of the chair, and the seat has sleeves that are received telescopically on the seat supports for sliding movement such that the seat slides forward and backward, relative to the chair back. The back tilts independently of the seat to conform to the sitting posture of a person sitting in the chair.

  • Patent number: 4084485
Abstract: A driving mechanism for a vehicle wheel includes a housing and piston-cylinder assemblies pivoted to side plates of the housing. Each assembly communicates with hydraulic fluid under pressure and a reciprocating piston rod of each assembly drives a pinion through a surrounding eccentric and driving ring when the assembly is rocked about its pivot connection. The assemblies with corresponding pinions are located around and in mesh with the outer periphery of a central pinion that is fixed to an output shaft to rotate the wheel. As each assembly rocks, a sliding valve within a control valve housing opens and closes return and inlet fluid ducts. An anchorage links each sliding valve to the housing for the mechanism. The latter housing affords the connection between the wheel and the vehicle frame and includes two spaced apart plates with strips between the plates that leave upper and lower blocks.

  • Patent number: 4084764
Abstract: A dispenser for a retractable safety belt, to be used by the driver of a vehicle, comprises a holder in which a roller loaded by a retraction spring is journaled. The belt, anchored to the roller and partly wound around it, coacts with an insert in the form of a resilient ribbon which is coiled with the belt about the roller during at least an initial phase of a pull-out stroke and about a collateral axis alongside the belt during at least a final phase of that stroke of exert upon the belt a supplemental biasing force which either aids the force of the retraction spring in the initial phase or opposes it in the final phase. The changeover between the two phases can be brought about by a beginning windup of the free ribbon end, by a diversity of inherent stress in two longitudinally adjoining ribbon sections, or by a detent responsive to the coil diameter which holds the ribbon away from the belt in the final phase of pull-out and lets it rejoin the belt at an intermediate stage of the retraction step.

  • Patent number: 4083411
Abstract: An implement has at least one group of soil working members arranged in a row that extends transverse to the direction of travel. The group of members is carried on an elongated frame portion that is connected to an overlying supporting structure by parallelogram linkages. Fore and aft ground wheels on corresponding arms interconnect the wheels to beams of the structure and the arms for the front wheels form part of further parallelogram structures. A hydraulic piston assembly bridges each rear arm to an upper arm link of a further parallelogram linkage so that the arms can be pivoted and the supporting structure together with the frame portion with soil working members, are raised to a transport position. The wheels can each be adjusted about a vertical axis to support the implement, in part, during operation or entirely during transport. Respective coupling members are attached to the front and the side of the implement for towing same in either position.
