Abstract: An apparatus, comprising a supporting and a rotatable stirrup together with respective wire spokes, intended for being drawn through juxtapositional bones and joints, forms two rigid systems. Said rigid systems are joined together by means of distractors with hinge joint fastenings, situated at the two ends of the wire spoke of the supporting stirrup. The position of the fulcrums of the hinge joints determines the position of the apparatus' axis of rotation. A special regulator is provided for adjusting the position of the axis of rotation of the apparatus which comprises a means for rotating the fulcrum of the hinge joint fastening the distractors and a means for moving the fulcrums of the hinge joints along the distractors connecting the supporting and rotatable stirrups.

Abstract: Apparatus for hitching mobile equipment, such as a towing vehicle and a towed vehicle, comprising a U-shaped locking member slidably mounted for lateral movement on the rearwardly extending draw bar of the towing vehicle. The draw bar is provided with a rearwardly opening slot that is adapted to receive therein a pin on the forward portion of the tongue connected to the vehicle to be towed. The rear leg of the U-shaped locking member is movable across the rearwardly opening slot in the draw bar to lock the tongue pin therein. The U-shaped locking member is biased to the closed or locking position by a spring, and a manually operable locking pin is movably mounted on the draw bar to releasably lock the U-shaped locking member in an open or a closed position.
Abstract: A pressure roller is composed of a plurality of roller sections, one of said roller sections having a greater diameter than the residual ones. All sections are carried by a common shaft, but the sections having a smaller diameter are eccentrically located on the shaft and freely rotatable thereabout. In this way, by turning the shaft the smaller sections may selectively become situated in such a relation versus the larger ones that the periphery of all sections acquire a common tangent plane in view of an opposed surface. The opposed surface may be a xerographic drum or belt and the pressure roller, after applying a suitable electric DC potential to it, may serve as part of transfer device adapted for being used for the transfer of toner image towards a paper passing between the nip of the pressure roller and the xerographic drum or belt, whereby the effective width of the pressure roller is a function of the width of the paper.
Abstract: This invention relates to soil cultivating implements having a frame portion that carries a plurality of soil working members arranged in a row that extends transverse to the direction of operative travel. The frame portion is linked to a supporting structure provided with a coupling connection to a prime mover. The linkage between the frame portion and the supporting structure is such that the frame portion is upwardly and downwardly displaceable relative to the supporting structure and guides are located close to the linkage to guide upward and downward movements of the linkage arms and prevent lateral movements of the frame portion during travel.
Abstract: This invention is proposed as an aerodynamically more efficient vaned diffuser for centrifugal compressors than heretofore achieved, while still respecting the usual diffuser requirement of a limited overall diameter. The invention is so to shape the early entering portion of the diffuser side-walls and the vanes as to achieve for the first time, isobars across the so-called throat which are highly oblique to the flow direction there, instead of heretofore always an isobar which is very nearly normal or normal across the passage at that throat. This is more understandably but still briefly explained in the two sections following, on Background, and Summary, of the Invention.
Abstract: Sugar cane harvester has base twin contra-rotating cutters driven by flat profile gearboxes positioned above the base cutters within the throat of the harvester. The base cutters are positioned between the harvester's front wheels (as viewed in a horizontal direction at right angles to forward travel of the harvester) so that the cutting height is unaffected by pitching of the harvester when traversing uneven terrain.
Abstract: An electronic echo device comprising an input amplifier, an output amplifier connected therewith across a transfer channel, a delay device connected in parallel to said channel, and a feedback path connected in parallel to said delay device. According to this invention a control device is included between the input of the echo device and the delay device, to which control device the feedback path is also connected. The arrangement is such that the gain factor of the control device, upon a relatively sudden change in the signal level supplied to it, varies to counter-act said change.
Abstract: Novel polymers, useful as films or filaments, are prepared as by the reaction of a bispiperazidophosphosphorus compound with a reactive derivative of an acid.
Abstract: In a procedure of preparing fibrous metal material by electrolytically deiting metal on conductive fibres forming a skeleton, the fibres are carded during deposition of the metal. The fibres are carded in a rotatable drum containing a fibre carding device which operates during rotation of the drum to card fibres whilst metal is being electrolytically deposited on the fibres.

Abstract: A cultivator implement has an elongated central frame portion that supports a row of rotatable soil working members and a gear box with an imput connectable to a p.t.o. The gear box houses a driving shaft that extends horizontally transverse to the direction of travel and parallel to the frame portion. The driving shaft has a first pinion at one end that is engaged by the imput and a second smaller pinion is journalled in the side wall opposite the first pinion. The second pinion has an outer socket and a bore that receives the driving shaft. The outer end of the driving shaft has a socket that interconnects with the pinion's outer socket through lugs bolted together by a breakable bolt. The second pinion directly engages a third pinion that is on a shaft of one of the soil working members to drive same. If one of the soil working members jams, the bolt breaks and the driving shaft rotates relative to the second pinion.
Abstract: Polyfluorocarbon resin particles and metals are codeposition from electroplating baths to form coating layers of a very homogeneous structure, when said positively charged resin particles having a particle size of less than about 10 .mu.m are kept dispersed in said baths in the presence of both a cationic and a nonionic fluorocarbon surfactant in a molar ratio between 25:1 and 1:3.5 and in a total amount of at least 3 .times. 10.sup.-3 millimoles per m2 of surface area of said particles.

Abstract: A textile drawing machine has interchangeable drawing heads mounted between the feed rollers and the drawing rollers, to enable it to treat different types of textile fibres. The heads are readily replaceable in a frame of the machine and have support and drive members engaging support and drive members on the frame.
Abstract: A coating system comprising a primer and a top coat is applied to a steel surface positioned under water or in the splash zone in such a way that successively carrier particles covered with the priming material are caused to collide with the steel surface and a top coat is applied to the steel surface thus treated.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for spreading distributable material, more particularly, fertilizer in granular or powdery form, said device comprising a hopper having at least one outlet port and a spreading member connected herewith and a dosing member to be adjusted for defining the passage of each outlet port, a control-mechanism moving the dosing member into a position in which the outlet port is closed or into the adjusted position; the invention has for its object to spread said material accurately and provides screw means operative between the dosing member and the control-mechanism for very sensitive adjustment said dosing member.

Abstract: A water-dilutable maleinized oil base coating composition is prepared by mixing from about 10 to about 90% by weight water-dilutable maleinized oil with from about 90% to about 10% by weight of a solid particulate polyester which contains from 5 to 35% by weight of a halogen. One of the carboxylic acids used in making the solid particulate polyester contains a halogen. The percentages by weight of the coating composition are based on the total weight of the two components on a solvent free basis. The novel coating composition can be used to advantage for coating any substrate and particularly for coating automobile bodies.
Abstract: A butt-splicer for butt-joining a fresh web to a progressing web, wherein the progressing web is pulled about a web-supporting roller and the fresh web is introduced between the progressing web and the web-supporting roller, and the cutting, and the taping of both webs occur within the angle of wrapping about the web-supporting roller, thereby to produce accurate splices.
