Abstract: A machine for forming the so-called tucked selvedge is disclosed, which comprises two thread-grasping units, a thread cutting unit and a movable hook-needle. The second thread-grasping unit is laterally shifted relative to the first like mechanism. The hook-needle serves to grasp the weft thread and to insert it in the warp shed as this becomes available. The working sequence of all of these mechanical units is warranted by appropriate, specially provided cam and linkage mechanisms. The advantage is that thread waste for the formation of a dummy selvedge is prevented.

Abstract: A method of producing a siliceous cover layer on a semiconductor element or wafer so that the temperature coefficient of the cover layer is approximated to the temperature coefficient of the semiconductor wafer, comprises distributing a combined emulsion over the wafer by centrifugal force. The combined emulsion is formed by making a mixture of a first emulsion of a non-doped, pure, silica emulsion and a second emulsion of a heavily-doped silica emulsion and adjusting the ratio of the first and second emulsions so that the temperature coefficient of the formed layer will be substantially identical with the temperature coefficient of the semiconductor element in form of a wafer or die. After the cover layer is hardened, the peripheral bead which forms from the emulsion mixture is etched off so that the exposed semiconductor surface, as well as the front side of the semiconductor die or wafer, are ready for epitaxial coating.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a hoisting device, characterized by the fact that it mainly consists of a housing to which the load is suspended, and in this housing a driving pulley consisting of two half pulleys for the cable, which is suspended from a fixed point, whereby this driving pulley is provided with means which press the cable uniformly or practically uniformly into the driving pulley over a large arc, and with means which press aforesaid half pulleys away from each other at the locations where the cable enters and leaves the pulley, in such a manner that no friction occurs when the cable enters or leaves the driving pulley, whereby this pressing apart is performed in such a manner that no or practically no increase of pressure occurs on the cable on the other side of the pulley.
Abstract: Oxazolidines and tetrahydro-1,3-oxazines which are substituted with 3-acryloyl or 3-methacryloyl groups are prepared by adding to an excess of a ketone and in the presence of a hydrogen chloride acceptor, about equimolecular amounts of a 2- or 3-amino lower alkanol and of acryloyl chloride or methacryloyl chloride, heating the mixture, and eliminating the unreacted ketone by destillation. The ketone corresponds to the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 = alkyl (1-4 C),R.sub.2 = alkyl (1-4 C) or phenyl, orR.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together represent the atoms necessary to complete an alicyclic group. These unsaturated oxazolidines and tetrahydro-1,3-oxazines may be homo- or copolymerized, and these polymers may be used as plasticizers for gelatin, e.g. in photographic layers containing gelatin.

Abstract: Toner powders for developing electrostatic images are provided which contain in epoxy resin organic dye that, although in itself insoluble in the resin, is solubilized therein by one or more substances selected from the group consisting of complete esters and alkyl and aryl amides of o- and m-phthalic acid, carbonic acid, phosphoric acid, benzoic acid and benzenesulfonic acids and condensation products of formaldehyde with alkyl and aryl amides of benzenesulfonic acids.
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for assembling the louvres of louvred blinds to the supporting ladders and elevating members and includes a vertically disposed flap pivoted at its bottom and having a ladder guide along one face. A louvre is inserted horizontally between the two vertical stringers and between two adjacent rungs thereof. The flap lying to one side holds the ladder obliquely such that the rung above the louvre is to one side of a hole therethrough. The louvre is then lifted and a vertical needle for inserting an elevating member such as a cord or chain enters the hole as the louvre is lifted. This lifting motion also lifts the ladder which motion causes the flap to pivot and flip to a position on the other side of the hole so that the next successive rung will be on the other side of the hole and the needle. The assembly continues and results in the rungs of the ladder being disposed alternately on opposite sides of the elevating member.

Abstract: A cooker for meatballs and the like has a semi-cylindrical trough mounted on a frame for rotation about its own substantially horizontal but slightly inclined axis. The trough is rocked to and fro by a controlled driving device to swing between extreme positions and optionally to stop between the extreme positions. The trough has a meatball inlet at one end and a meatball outlet at the other end. Between those ends the trough has interrupted, interior, helical vanes staggered with respect to each other on opposite sides of the center of the trough to impell the meatballs from one end to the other as the trough rocks. The trough includes a jacket having inlet and outlet connections for heating oil and may also have radiant heaters directed toward the inside of the trough.
