Abstract: A method for the preparation of a planographic printing plate wherein a sheet material comprising an outer hardenable hydrophilic colloid layer on whose surface is concentrated a visible silver image that has been formed thereon from silver halide complexes according to the silver complex diffusion transfer process, is treated with an aqueous lithographic fixer having a pH in the range of 1.0 to 6.5 and containing1. an iron(III) salt of a polyaminopolycarboxylic acid as oxidizing agent for the silver image,2. a compound yielding in dissolved state iodide ions as precipitating agent for silver ions, and3. an organic onium compound.

Abstract: A haymaking machine has a pair of rotatable rake members that are driven to turn in relative opposite directions about upwardly extending axes, towards one another to pass crop between them. Outwardly extending tines on the rake members define circular paths that intersect or are closely adjacent one another during operation. Beginning at the front of the rake members, with respect to the normal direction of travel, a pair of crop feeders are positioned to guide crop between the rake members and towards the intersecting paths of their tines. The feeders comprise downwardly extending elements that can be curved or configured to shed crop adjacent the ground, near the rotating tines. Further feeders of similar structure are positioned to the rear of the forward pair but within the paths traced by the tines, when viewed in plan. The feeders can be adjustable in a vertical direction and/or deflectable against spring opposition to accommodate heavy crop.

Abstract: In an air conditioning method and system for supplying conditioned air to an enclosed space, such as a room or rooms in a building, air is withdrawn from the room at separate positions located adjacent the floor and ceiling in order to advantageously utilize the effects of a convection within the room. Depending upon the season or the demand, air withdrawn from one of these positions is discharged into the atmosphere, while air withdrawn from the other of the positions is supplied, as return air, to an air conditioning unit, at which it is heated or cooled. A predetermined amount of outside air is also supplied to the air conditioning unit with the return air and the combined air flow, after treatment in the conditioning unit, is supplied to the enclosed air space or room.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for feeding yarn to needles of a conventional tufting machine in which the yarn is controlled to permit the feeding of at least two different lengths per needle to produce pile tufts of varying heights. A series of yarn pullers and clamps are utilized to draw and meter the yarn from the creel. Different pullers are utilized to provide the varying pile heights. The pullers or plungers may be driven by band-like members which are engageable upon selection with a continuously oscillating shaft.

Abstract: A new antibiotic (now called dihydromocimycin) being a yellow, salt-forming weak acid and its non-toxic, pharmaceutically acceptable salts produced by a novel microorganism called Streptomyces ramocissimus, a sample of which is deposited in the collection of "Centraal Bureau voor Schimmel-cultures" at Baarn, The Netherlands, under No. CBS 190.69, or mutants thereof, which antibiotic has antibacterial properties and has been found to be effective against Treponema dysentry, one of the most common swine diseases. Dihydromocimycin may also be converted into mocimycin which is an antibiotic which also possesses growth-promoting properties when added to animal feeds by a dehydrogenation reaction using selenium dioxide as the dehydrogenating agent. The dehydrogenation reaction may be carried out in the presence of a suitable organic solvent.

Abstract: A receptacle for radiographic film material comprising a first fluorescent screen disposed in a first path of movement extending around a first pair of rollers, and a second fluorescent screen disposed in a second path of movement extending around a second pair of rollers, the axes of all rollers being parallel to one another, and said two paths of movement being in part contiguous with each other, wherein at least one screen has a length shorter than the length of its path of movement, and that the screens are capable of being moved by a drive in one direction for receiving film material and in the opposite direction for delivering film material.

Abstract: A load carrying vehicle is provided with a pair of wheel assemblies which are swingable relative to the frame to vary the width of the track. The wheel assemblies are supported on torsion bars which extend along the frame and may be rotated by a hydraulic cylinder. The torsion bars also provide springing for the vehicle.

Abstract: A light reflecting casing especially suitable for use in photocopiers is provided by means of a resilient foil, e.g. of stainless steel or of a metallized flexible plastic material, which is held elastically curved with a reflecting side thereof directed toward the light and is shaped exactly to the form of a developable ruled surface by a plurality of support members engaging its other side.

Abstract: Disclosed is an electrical connector suitable for connecting a plurality of electrically conductive members to an electrical component, the connector being adjustable to the spacing of the terminals on the component. The connector comprises a plurality of hollow members slidably retained within one another and having electrically conductive members extending from one end of each hollow member for connection to the electrical component.

Abstract: The invention pertains to an extensible table, characterized by the fact that it consists of at least one sliding-out table top and at least one extension, whereby the latter is located, in position of rest, under the slidable table top or tops, and whereby said extension can cooperate, by means of outwardly directed protrusions, with vertical slots in each of the adjacent side members of the table frame, and whereby means are provided within said side members which permit, after sliding out the table top or tops, to maintain said extension in a raised position, on the one hand, and to let down again said extension for shortening the table, on the other hand.

Abstract: Synthetic resin extruder comprising a rotatable extrusion head surrounded by a hollow ring rigidly secured, the interior of the ring communicating with a controllable supply of air for the head, said ring having an outer sliding face, in which are provided a number of passages equally spaced apart and closed by non-return valves having a portion projecting out of the sliding face, said face co-operating with a spring-controlled stationary shoe with a depression being provided with an air supply and the bottom of the depression co-operating with the valves to urge these into the open position.

Abstract: Electrophotographic copies having images of high optical density formed on photoconductive layers having little weight and suitably transparent for use as photocopying originals are produced by charging electrostatically and exposing imagewise a photoconductive layer of less than 10 g/m.sup.2 in dry weight and less than 6 microns in thickness which contains zinc oxide and a binder in a weight proportion of between 9 and 14 and is chargeable at most to a surface potential of between 100 and 250 V, this layer being carried on a conductive flexible support having a specific resistance of less than 10.sup.13 ohm. cm, and thereafter developing the resulting charge pattern by contacting it during at most 3 seconds with a "one-component" powder which contains pigment dispersed in resin and has a specific resistance below 10.sup.7 ohm. cm, while maintaining a conductive connection between the developing powder and said support.
