Abstract: A rotary harrow has a transverse frame, including an elongated hollow beam, and rotatable soil working tined members are mounted on upwardly extending shafts journalled in the beam. A supporting elongated roller has arms that adjustably connect to the frame and the roller also extends transverse to the direction of travel, at the rear of the beam. Vertical plate supports on the top of the beam extend upwardly and rearwardly and a tool bar is interconnected to the rearmost extremities of the supports so that seed drills, etc. can be secured in place to the rear of the soil working members. The tool bar also extends transverse and across the width of the frame.

Abstract: Apparatus for converting oscillatory motion to reciprocating motion featuring the use of thin, non-permanently deformable band-like members confined to a linear track so as to be reciprocable when one end of the band-like member is engaged by an oscillatory shaft. The other end of the band-like member may be secured to a work element used for exerting force against a work object. Selection means may be employed in apparatus having a plurality of band-like members in which each of the members can be selectively induced into engagement with a shaft or other oscillatory means to control the work elements as desired.

Abstract: Direct positive silver halide emulsions are provided which contain fogged silver halide grains with a layered grain structure wherein the external shell of the silver halide grains comprise up to 20 mole % of silver iodide based on the silver halide of the shell. The emulsions show improved sensitivity and produce images of improved maximum density.

Abstract: In an apparatus for collecting light-weight substance floating on a liquid the light-weight substance is sprayed with the aid of a liquid jet into an accumulator tank in that the light-weight substance lands together with the liquid jet as a downward stream about a lower edge of the open bottom of the tank into said tank.In order to keep the liquid jet effective the disintegration of the liquid jet is prevented. To this end the liquid jet is guided above the layer of light-weight substance along a bar or similar guide means.

Abstract: Copying apparatus of the type in which an original after being passed through a copying path with a copy sheet can be either delivered away or passed back through a return path into the copying path for making another copy is provided with a simple and reliable system for adjustably positioning a side edge of the original, even if it is fragile, relative to a side edge of the copy sheet so that the position of the images on multiple copies will not vary from copy to copy.

Abstract: A cultivator or rotary harrow has soil working members rotatable about upwardly extending shafts journalled in a frame portion that extends transverse to the direction of travel. The front of the frame is supported by a coupling attached to a prime mover and the rear of the implement is supported by two ground wheels. One wheel is located at each lateral side of the frame portion at the rear thereof and a bracket is pivoted to the frame with rearwardly extending arms connected to the wheel axle mountings. An extensible connecting member interconnects the axle mountings to the frame above the bracket so that the wheels can be vertically displaced by shortening or lengthening the connecting members. A sowing mechanism, including a feed box, is mounted to the rear of the soil working members with delivery tubes leading to shoes. A flow control mechanism is driven by a transmission from the wheel mountings and the shoes can be raised or lowered by a linkage and control lever.

Abstract: A process is provided for making frost resistant cement products having improved 28 day compressive strengths wherein a gas is included in the product by substantially uniformly dispersing hollow gas filled synthetic polymeric spheres in the cement mixture prior to setting thereof. The invention also provides a frost resistant cement product having from about 0.01 to about 0.1% by weight based on the weight of cement of synthetic polymer spheres filled with air and having a diameter of from about 10 to about 100 .mu.m substantially uniformly dispersed therein.

Abstract: Perfume compositions, perfumed materials and articles and a process for preparing perfume compositions, perfumed materials and articles which includes the steps of adding perfume components usual for this purpose and additionally at least one compound reminiscent of castoreum which is selected from 8-allyl-8-hydroxytricyclo (5,2.1.0.sup.2,6) decane and mixtures of o-hydroxybenzyl ethyl ether and 8-allyl-8-hydroxytricyclo (5,2,1,0.sup.2,6). Reminiscent of castoreum is 8-allyl-8-hydroxytricyclo (5,2.1.0.sup.2,6) decane.

Abstract: In the preparation of silver halide emulsions silver halide grain-growth is accelerated by the addition to the precipitation medium during or before silver halide precipitation of a compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein: N IS AN INTEGER FROM 1 TO 5R.sup.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl or substituted alkylR.sup.2 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl or substituted alkyl, or a carboxylic acyl groupR.sup.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl or substituted alkyl, andR.sup.4 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl or substituted alkyl group, aryl or substituted aryl or a salt-forming cation.

Abstract: System for quickly locking the lenses to, and easily disengaging the same from, sportive goggles, said lenses particularly being graduated lenses or the like for correction of visual defects; and sportive goggles in accordance with said system, particularly a technically advanced and improved form of swimming and diving goggles affording an easy use, a wider visual angle and greater protection for eyes, characterized by a main body with two countersunk seats for lenses and grooves parallel thereto for receiving a locking frame adapted to be locked in place by a disengageable member serving also as connecting member for the positioning strap of the goggles.

Abstract: A soil cultivating machine has a row of driven rotatable soil working members and a tool bar at the rear thereof to which tools, such as seed drills can be attached. The machine is connectable to a tractor lift and the members are driven via a p.t.o. At least one supporting member is detachably connected to the machine frame and the tool bar for operational support and transport purposes. The supporting member is elongated and extends rearwardly from the frame above the tool bar and to a rear support wheel. The supporting member includes a forward support that is pivoted to a rear arm and a hydraulic assembly bridges the pivot connection. Actuation of the assembly lifts the machine, including any tools on the tool bar so that the entire machine with attachments are supported solely by the tractor lift and the rear wheel or wheels.

Abstract: A device for protecting an audio amplifier against overload or short circuit. The device includes an output amplifier comprising a plurality of branches having output transistors, a preamplifier to control the output amplifier, and means for limiting the current through the transistors at an allowable value. The device further includes means which, when the current through the output transistors exceeds this value, limit this current at this value, and means which, in the presence of such an unallowably high current in one of the branches, immediately disconnect the output amplifier irrespective of the fact that this current occurs in the one or in the other branch.

Abstract: A mixing device comprising a vessel and an agitator extending into the vessel in which the vessel is hermetically sealed from the atmosphere by a flexible member detachably connected with the wall and the agitator shaft. Means are provided to maintain the agitator shaft in a fixed angular position during the stirring operation.

Abstract: The stack forming device according to the invention comprises a traction surface which is rotatably driven. The portion of the trailing edge of a sheet to be stacked is kept in contact with the traction surface so that the trailing edge of the sheet is displaced in synchronism with said surface. This displacement is carried out over a period which follows the abutment of the leading edge of the sheet against a stop provided on a stacking platform. As a consequence the sheet acquires a convex configuration and is finally propelled against the platform or the preceding sheet after release by the traction surface. The device may be equipped with supplementary blowers in order to facilitate the release from the traction surface. It is of particular interest for high speed stacking of photographic film sheets, preferably double-side coated ones.

Abstract: A ram device has a drop hammer connected to the piston of a lifting cylinder which is connected by means of short and wide ducts to a control apparatus for admitting compressed air into the cylinder and for discharging the air from the cylinder beneath the piston, control apparatus directly communicating with the ambient air so as to allow a rapid escape of the air through large air vent ports from beneath the piston. In particular this control apparatus is directly mounted on the cylinder, or is included in an extension of this cylinder.

Abstract: A harrow has a frame and power driven soil-working members on the frame mounted in a row. A roller is connected to the frame to trail the soil-working members. The roller includes a central tube-like support which is surrounded by elongated bars held in position by upright supports.

Abstract: A wheeled vehicle of good stability and high manoeuvreability is disclosed. The vehicle is hydraulically driven and skid-steerable by rotation upon one only, transverse pair of wheels, herein called the pivot wheels, all other wheels being allowed to slide laterally into each new position; and is provided with automatic loading means operative upon the pivot wheels to ensure that ground pressure at these two wheels is always greater, under all drive conditions, than at any other of the wheels. The wheels are articulated to the vehicle frame to absorb irregularities in terrain and provision is also made for adjusting the fore and aft angle of the frame with respect to the wheels for hill climbing or descending.

Abstract: In the process of forming a coating selected from nickel and cobalt-based atings on a surface of a component made of a metallic material having a total composition by weight comprising at least 50% of metal selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt and nickel, the improvement comprising forming at least one layer of an alloy of boron with one of nickel, cobalt and nickel/cobalt on the component, after which the boron is eliminated.
