Patent number: 6911967Abstract: A liquid crystal display is provided which has low power consumption, and which prevents horizontal stripes from occurring without the circuitry becoming more complex. When the write voltage polarity is inverted every plurality of lines, in the n line where the polarity is inverted, the rise in the drain line waveform dulls due to the charging of the drain line. In the n+1 line, because the drain line has been charged by the writing of the n line, waveform dullness does not occur. A difference between the write states in the two lines causes horizontal stripes. Consequently, the output enable signal is activated at the rise of the clock signal, and the gate line is activated after a predetermined time to start the writing. Therefore, writing is not performed during the period of waveform dullness, and the write state is the same across all scan lines.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2004Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: NEC LCD Technologies Ltd.Inventors: Noboru Okuzono, Koichi Koga

Patent number: 6909418Abstract: A shift register outputs at a terminal C1 to a data register a timing pulse which is active only for one clock in synchronization to the first rise of a clock CLK after a shift signal STH is received as a start pulse, and thereafter outputs timing pulses at terminals C2 through C64 one after another to the data register. Further, a logical multiplication gate AND2 yields the logical multiplication of a Q-output of an SR-type flip flop SRFF3 and a superimposed signal, whereby an inversion signal intPOL2 is generated. This inversion signal is outputted to the data register. As an OR gate OR1 yields the logical addition of an output of a logical multiplication gate AND3 and a Q-output of a D-type flip flop DFF64, which causes rising of a superimposed signal of an inversion signal POL2 and the shift signal STH which is shifted to a subsequent-stage source driver.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2002Date of Patent: June 21, 2005Assignee: NEC LCD Technologies, Ltd.Inventor: Nobuhiro Arai

Patent number: 6897922Abstract: Within a reflective display section R, a part of a light that reaches a reflective electrode through a color filter exits to the outside through slits and a part of a light that reaches the reflective electrode through the slits exits to the outside through the color filter. In addition, a light reaching the reflective electrode through the color filter and exiting to the outside through the color filter, and a light having no opportunity to pass through the slits also can be observed. Therefore, a mean film thickness of color filter through which all lights pass during the time in which they travel the associated distance after they are inputted to the inside until they are outputted to the outside becomes nearly equal to that could be observed in the transmissive section T.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2002Date of Patent: May 24, 2005Assignees: NEC Corporation, NEC LCD Technologies, Ltd.Inventors: Hidenori Ikeno, Eriko Fujimaki

Patent number: 6894673Abstract: A liquid crystal display control circuit receives a data enable signal DE in synchronization with per-line based display data from a computer, and thereby controls a liquid crystal display. A gate drive signal outputted from a gate driver 23 is generated according to a vertical clock signal VCK in synchronization with a rise of the signal DE. In order to avoid a variation in the period of charging the pixel electrodes which is caused by a delay in the rise timing of the signal DE and a delay in the signal VCK after the last line, a gate enable signal generation circuit 10 is provided in the liquid crystal display control circuit 1, whereby the extended output of the pulse of the gate drive signal caused by the above-mentioned delays is inhibited. This avoids display inhomogeneity caused by a variation in the data enable signal and the like.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2002Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: NEC LCD Technologies, Ltd.Inventors: Koichi Koga, Noboru Okuzono, Machihiko Yamaguchi
